I love them more every game, maybe I'm biased, but each game the Altmers always got a few more interesting NPCs and quests involving just them. I thoroughly enjoy playing as them so all my first and headcanon characters in TES games are Altmers.

Besides Altmers, elves in TES are generally more interesting and just better portrayed than elves from other games IMO. But again that opinion could be very biased since I love TES so much.

I just started an Altmer (female) character. There are plenty of high elves who don't buy into the supremacy doctrine of the Thalmor and just want to live and let live, just like there are Dunmer who don't support slavery. Some, like Niranye in Windhelm, have even managed to gain the acceptance of Nords, however grudging. I figure an Altmer Stormcloak wouldn't be too much of a stretch, given that a) Ralof openly states you don't have to be a Nord to sign up, b ) Mer are accepted as long as they make their allegiances clear and c) when you're an Altmer who had to flee Summerset after openly criticising the Dominion, where else are you going to go, Hammerfell?

I like all the races for they're culture & quirks in the TES games.

I didn't care about elves until I got into TES, and I was like what? They're ugly! The "High Elves" are the bad guys? (yes, I KNOW Altmer =/= Thalmor; I'm talking about my initial reaction.) Orcs are elves? And they aren't evil? Man, this is good!!!

Now I love elves, but only the Elder Scrolls version. Skyrim made me like both elves and dragons, while I cared for neither before. I guess they did a good job!

Altmer? They are excellent mages, and pointy-eared banana wo/men. Just saying.

They are fun to kill (Regarding the Thalmor sect of them).

My Altmer now not only has the Dark Brotherhood after her, but a Thalmor death warrant has been issued as well. Meep.

I have no real opinion on altmer.

On the other hand, the only good thalmor is a dead thalmor.
