Opinions on exclusive in-game items in a Collector's Edition

Post » Mon Aug 16, 2010 11:18 am

Pfff, How is it not fair that the collector's edition comes with extra stuff? That's what makes it better than the standard edition.... That's why it's the collector's edition!

The poll is about IN GAME extra stuff. Of course the collector edition should contain extra goodies, but physical items like books, dvds, figurines, things that people collect, not aditional chunks of game.

You hid the "no, collectors want physical stuff not a different game" option pretty well, but I see many of us have managed to find it anyway.

What is the point adding some unique in-game stuff if we can mod them back, into any edition of the game?

I agree with the majority here, collecting artbooks and posters and coins is one thing while buying bonus game content is another thing. Keep them separate, please.

I don't want there to be exclusive in-game items for different versions of Skyrim. Like, take a look at this http://ps3.ign.com/articles/117/1170911p1.html It's borderline offensive

I'm against in-game bonus in CE, that's not something to collect, it's something to play. The game itself should be available to everyone in its entirety, as it was conceived.

I am a collector myself and will buy the collector's ed but it's not fair to have special in game content. It's like slicing the game and giving more to those who pay more. The collector's edition is meant for collectors, so it should contain collectible physical items.

well why not give us free game content because we pay more but that isnt exclusive CE. Just they would have to pay for it.

I believe what some on this thread can't see is that collector's edition costs more so it should contain more than the standard version. If you pay more for a premium version, you should be getting more and that INCLUDES exclusive in-game stuff. Don't want it? Don't pay for it. It's not like the in-game stuff is god-like gear/items anyway. I apologize if I'm being blunt, but don't complain about not getting a bit more if you're not willing to shell out a bit more cash for it.

The Expansions/GOTY's should be the only thing with more virtual content imo.

If I'm gonna drop a Benjamin on this game I want stuff, Bethesda, STUFF.

To block in-game content from standard editions just encourages piracy.

Never, ever, make the game on the shelves be intentionally inferior to pirated versions online. Hell, you don't even need piracy; someone would just reintroduce the content as a Mod, and the entire issue becomes pointless.

Collector Editions are designed to offer something you can't get at any other time. Game content is just code; it is the physical goods that are collectable.
