My Opinions on Fallout 3

Post » Thu Feb 25, 2010 8:11 pm

look. the Fallout is Fallout.
'fallout 3' is not the Fallout.
first of all.
yep, there was 'karma' in fallout.
but the Fallout NEVER judged me. it never showed 'that's good' and 'that's bad'. I was free in that world.
but fallout3 JUDGES me! it says 'that's good' and 'that's bad!" awfulll!
The fallout was a Universe with is'd rules, it's history.
You've broken it!
WTF, SUPERMUTANTS ARE NOT ORCS!!!!
why does their's 'outposts' look so ORCISH with 'blooded pikes' ? ? (in fallout3 that's metal pikes with rust, but when you look at them from a distance, you see, that's thay are identical to wooden pikes with blood that orcs have on their buildings).
what a groupthink?!
the fallout universe has it's rules.
a lot of skills depend on SOME attributes!
you can't pick electronic lock with a hairpin! yep, tehre are TOW types of locks. mechanical and electronic.
and... why a hairpin ? there are fully qualified lockpicking sets! but mechanical lockpicks doesn't work for electronic locks. electronic lockpicks doesn't work for mechanical locks.
chance to hit depends on weapon type, it's range, perception and skill!!!
that'w awfull, when I have identical chances to wit with laser pistol and laser rifle! rifle should be much more accurate at distance!
books.... books effectiveness depends on skill level! the more you know in a skill, the less you'll be able to get from books!
drugs. i've nere needed to use drugs in fallout-3. why ?
don't you know what are they for? for example, drugs are good for book reading :) but not in fallout-3.
drugs are almost not used in 'skill checks'. you can wait a little and increase your skill. drugs are used in attrib checks.
fallout-3 is full of idiotic propaganda. that sux.
the Fallout univerce has it's history, it's specifics.
game developers SHOULD PLAY FALLOUT 1,2 AT LEAST ONE.
the best - several times. first tiem without special manuals. second - with special manuals, that describe all specifics, quests etc.

the Fallout is 'six, drugs, rock'n'roll'. where's six (blackscreaned, i think) in fallout-3 ? ? ?

I understand that this game is nothing like the originals, and that makes you unhappy, I would be too. But most of us here understand that now. It's the same argument over and over and over.

Just try to think of it as having nothing to do with Fallout 1 or Fallout 2.

Im...not sure what it is your saying?

To quote Chris Tucker in one of the Rush Hour's:

I am not understanding the words that are coming out of your mouth!

Edit: I wouldn't even call the OP's post constructive on the simple basis that no sense can be made of it.

Even though the topic creator's post looks like it was written by a chimpanzee on crack, he still has just as much right to criticize the game as we do to praise it.

I don't understand why a lot of people around here want a happy, politically-correct "carebear" land when it comes to the forums. It would make things terribly uninteresting.

I know, I understand why. It's just it isn't interesting anymore. I didn't mind the first few back in November, but now we're getting the same arguments over and over. It's just getting repetitive is all.

I have to agree on the Super Mutants, in Fallout 3 atleast they are just an excuse to have Orcs in Post-Apocalyptic world, haven't encountered them in the classics yet. Still :fallout:

It's just getting repetitive is all.

Other things are getting repetitive as well, such as:

- WTF? Level cap is 20? How do I change it?
- Oh noes! Quantum Chemist doesn't work on Ice-Cold Nuka-Colas!
- Hey guys! I know it's been officially stated, but even still I don't understand for some reason! Are the DLCs really coming to PS3?

I could keep going on, but criticizing the game is just as frequent, if not less, than what I've listed.

You've broken it!

Bethesda owns the Fallout IP, they can do whatever they want with their games and it will still be Fallout. I enjoyed the original two games and I also believe that Fallout 3 is a worthy sequel.

Is it really? Theres another person on here who fell in love with it last week or so. I'm looking to buy it. It won't be for a while though since I'm saving up for something else.

Definetly, the originals are spectacular games.

Yeah, there ar some differences, but you must understand Fallout 1 & 2 are very complex and detailed games. To completely emulate them in the format of an Elder Scrolls game would be almost impossible. I for one think Bethesda has made a sensational game. Sometimes, change is good

The problem is these days, is that every franchise seems to be getting a "face-lift" in an attempt to attract a crowd who were never originally fans of it. Everything from James Bond to the Dukes of Hazard have suffered from this, and Fallout 3 is nothing more than another victim of the retro-redo fad. Had Fallout 3, stayed true to its principles, or even better had Fallout 3 been "Van Buren", yes it's true that it would not have had the market penetration and "general appeal" that Fallout 3 has, but it would have been better for the true fans. Fallout 3, should have instead been billed as an alternate Fallout history, or a Fallout remake.

Can't ~they branded it #3 (even though its true).

I know, I understand why. It's just it isn't interesting anymore. I didn't mind the first few back in November, but now we're getting the same arguments over and over. It's just getting repetitive is all.
So the gist of that is essentially... make you peace and get out?

Bethesda owns the Fallout IP, they can do whatever they want with their games and it will still be Fallout.
No it won't... [Same thing with the new Dune books].
Fallout died with its creator [BlackIsle]; Fallout 3 is "impostering" ~but with all the right paperwork :deal:.

look, developers said that most of then even haven't played Fallout 1 or 2!
yes, Fallout 1&2 are very complex, detailed games.
yes, they can't do the same.
but they should try to do something, that looks like the Fallout universe, has it's spirit!
and they should try avoid useless and illogical things.
force picklocking (open it or jam forever) - is useless until you have a special perk.
unlocking electronick lock with a hairpin is illogical!
large metal alloys that that stick out of orc's buildings are not 'defensive things'! they do nothing! they're 'just for fun'. they might defend against elephants. but there are no elephants.

I'm not against changes thay had to do.
VATS instead step-by-step is ok.
increased ammount of vaults if ok.

but....
'repair' skill is used only to repair weapons and armor.. why ?
the Fallout had chances in lockpicking and hacking. any multiple attempts with chance (small) of jamming (chanses depend on skill).
fallout3 has direct checks lockpick/science skill (25, 50, 75). so, you can't pick a lock if you lack 1 point in skill! in the Fallout, the less you skill, the more time you will try to pick a lock. and the more chance that you will pick it.

the Fallout hac direct checks for speach. you have a skill to persuadec, or you haven't.
fallout3 has 'chances' in speach :)

finally.
one could polish any skill to 300! in the Fallout.
the better your skill, the more skillpoint cost to increase that skill.
100 - is normal level.
a a point for skill in 0 - 100 costs 1 skillpoint to increase.
100 - 150 cost 2 skillpoints.
250-300 cost 6 skillpoints to increase.
and that does matter!
with shooting skill 100 one shoot well.
with 150 - he is an ace!
and so on.

and the story...
the story of fallout3 is just a variation of fallout1 and fallou2 storylines. ) )
