I just wanted to start a topic about the lack of info. It has been quite a while for any type of new. Honestly I have lost interest in the forums and my love for the scrolls is waining ever so slightly. I need something. How does everyone else feel about this?

Why wait for more info if one can just play Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion, with the last two being moddable. Beside, its not like there any big event that will happen during Fall or Spring to begin with in this forum.

Not particularly.
It's not like every time I log onto BGSF I anxiously await news for TES:V. It'll come when it's ready; be patient.

I bolded the problem.

A need for something for which there is no surety of arrival is a destructive and defeating need. You will simply have to learn to do without, just like the rest of us. If your interest in TES is ebbing simply because a new title has not been announced, then obviously you've missed the point of 4 titles that have almost infinite replay value (and 2 non-numbered titles that while nowhere near infinite are still very fun).

Go download Arena or Daggerfall for free, buy Morrowind if you haven't already, and branch out your play styles. Do things you've never done before. RP. You can't tell me you've played all 4 of those games to the fullest, because that's just not possible.

nope. I greately dislike the shallowness that comes with news (or the suggestions thereof). better to have the semblance of an intelligent discussion than ten thousand threads centered around rumors and whining that are a staple preceding release. fun as following the progress is, i prefer the quieter lull of a mature game.

indeed, there is *tons* of stuff to do to keep your TES up. playing older games, playing newer games modded, modding, writing, roleplaying, drawing, studding/debating lore... the list goes on.

Nope, I mostly come here to check up on mod projects that I'm either giving suggestions about or really want to get my hands on, or to discuss and read interesting discussions of lore.

ThatOneGuy hit the nail on the head. You're waiting on something that you have no idea of when it will arrive. Not a single one of us do. It could be Monday or it could be a whole year from now. Or more! If you're upset by the lack of news then it's best to just put the next Elder Scrolls game out of your head completely. Don't fixate on it so much. There are other games to play and other things to do. Besides, it's not like there's nothing to look forward to. We have two(!) Elder Scrolls novels on the way! :)

Having said that, I voted "Yes." The lack of news I can deal with, but the conversation here is cyclical and tiresome and grew stale long ago.

Although I do crave to hear something about a new Elder Scrolls game (Who wouldn't?), I have found that by coming back to Morrowind after re-finding the old discs and putting them on my new computer, I have been able to stave off this craving. So, I guess I don't really mind the wait. I have things in life keeping me busy lately.

Nope, besides what ThatOneGuy said i'll add that if your bored there are plenty of great games to keep you occupied, if you have a brother play muliplayer SSBB (Super Smash Bros Brawl), or if you have a PS3, i recommend resistance and MGS4, both great games that can really keep a person occupied

Well I waited 3 years for Spore... 3 loooong years.

I've only been on these forums for the last 6 months so its not that bad. But with Spore we had heaps of preview vids and EA hyped Spore alot and made it sell realy realy well and there was lots to talk about. But here, due to the lack of ANY information about TESV I dont realy find my self caring too much about TES any more. I've played oblivion to death ever since I got it and its going stale I'm sick of the bugs and I dont want to play it any more. Now I want a new game, I know Beth is making TESV but im getting realy bored of waiting. We've got no information about it what so ever, not even a screen shot to keep us interested, and I am loosing interest.

P.S. I am very disapointed with Spore.

Thing is when they start showing screenshots, thats it, a deadline is guaranteed, they want the freedom to work on it for as long as they want to because in TES IV they lost that freedom with the trailers, fans end up disappointed at the things that didn't make it in the series or the radical changes in the game, people who looked forward to the game were stunned at the difference between the trailer and the actual game (not in a good way mind you), announcements lead to screenshots which lead to trailers which lead to revealing radical game changes which lead to conferences which will eventually set a deadline for the game, because of the deadline in oblivion, many quests were left unfinished and many details were left untouched, some of the major questlines such as the DB questline had elements which weren't finished, many sub-projects had to be scrapped because of lack of time and in the end everybody gets disappointed.

Overall it's best to wait for a great game than to get a screenshot of a game that has so much more potential.

Indeed so, if you're starting to lose interest, the best thing to do would probably be to simply find something else to keep your interest until Bethesda does decide to say something.

But if you DON'T advertise the game, no one will be interested in it, excluding a few devoted fans that will automatically be all over anything related to their favorite series. Bethesda is going to have to give us something at some point, if it turns out that the something leads to hype that Bethesda can't satisfy, than it's a risk that must be taken.

We're still not hearing anything until they decide they're ready to tell us, though, and when that will be, we really can't be sure. Though I'd be lying to say I don't want it to be sooner than later.

I think it's pretty lifeless to just keep waiting and waiting for some announcements and to that as a main thing on the forums..... What if TES V is released.. are you going to to wait for another announcement after you finished it.... Just enjoy on what you have now and don't keep waiting on what MAY come...

I think that with the amount of fanfare that Morrowind and Oblivion created after their releases that TES5 wouldn't need too much sneak peaks etc. Paper a teaser splash page and an ominous quote or something. Personally I would prefer not to know what's coming and just be surprised at every turn.

Wait... what?

You make it sound like your life revolves around these forums and The Elder Scrolls. So what if there haven't been any new interviews to speculate about, or that screenshots haven't been released yet. The game will be announced when it's ready. Until then - LIVE YOUR LIFE. Check back on the forums whenever you feel like it, but don't base your own excitement and interest levels in life on a currently unannounced game.

You're right when you say you 'need something.' It's a reality check.

As fun as speculating around what could happen is, I think that if Beth does announce TESV and even its location, these boards would be going crazy with the speculation and ideas, giving the mods many a-sleepless nights monitoring that pvssyr of ideas which would now be more focused and based off of fact and not just speculation. However, until that happens, I have plenty of other things to keep me occupied which I equally enjoy as much as TES.

Actually.... yes.

I feel as bad for Rohugh as I do for all the creators of the topics he closes. Everything has been said and speculated on nine ways to Sunday. The mods should help us all and refuse to close topics that are redundant until Bethesda spills some beans about ES:V. I say this with the understanding that all the topics about ES:V are redundant.

Except for this one.

Not really since I'm playing Oblivion currently (and might play Daggerfall and/or Morrowind later)

Nope, this community is too good. In fact, I hope they don't release much about TES:V, and then get us a few months before they release the game. Maybe an occasional hint dropping here and there, but nothing major.

I did not mean to make it seem like this is my "life", i have just played many of the games till they have become boring and was simply asking if these forums have grown extremely stale. I was mainly focused on the lack of anything new on the forums.

They won't announce anything concrete for a long time. No doubt not only is TES:V in development, but the setting has probably been decided for some time. But if it was to be announced now imagine the hype and rampant speculation based on a few snippets of info, it'd spin out of control leading to massive hype backlash when TES:V actually was released. Better to keep quite and give no clues.
