Optimal Medic Gun Combination

Post » Mon May 09, 2011 8:36 am

As a medic you should play support and thus have support weaponry.

If heavy, use a machine gun.

If standard, use an assault rifle with an extended drum magazine.

It is also smart to have your weapons silenced, since if you want to continue reviving or healing folks, you want to stay relatively unknown in the background, instead of a target that stands out, when on the attack. Silenced weapons increase survivability.

I think in BRINK there are three medic-playstyles, based on which bodytype you pick.

A Light can obviously not take care of all enemies quickly enough to revive the teammate quickly. So as a Light, you wouldn't focus around weapons, but around abilities which allow you to quickly move across the battlefield and toss out syringes (perhaps even while sliding from cover to cover. Light Medic Mastery).

A Medium has the option to take out a few enemies before approaching downed teammates. But as the Light he is not the one to clear the area before taking care of the team. So he will mainly use suppresive fire to push the enemies back for a moment, so he can throw around his healing gift.

A Heavy can actually focus on wiping out the enemy forces which have downed his teammates and relies rather on his health than his mobility (obviously). So a minigun or LMG could be a good pick for him.

I had been thinking about that as well, but when I noticed that the soldiers had shielding buffs I started to wonder if maybe having a medium medic running with a heavy soldier would be a better option because the medic's speed benefits the soldier and the soldier's protection and firepower benefits the medic. Obviously this has some to do with having partners in the first place, but I'm starting to wonder which classes will work best not just on their own, but with certain other types.

Well yer that and it's also that it'salmost the rule book for making games with healers. Healers be the most OP and everyother toon falls by the way side. maybe it's different for Brink i don't know, I am hoping.

There is a difference between Healers as in "Priest" and Healers as in "Druid" or "Paladin", though.
Because the first is usually grind-meat when soloing.

Shielding is gone.

This.

Hmm. I guess that changes that, is there a complete list of abilities for each class/type somewhere. I had trouble opening the Compendium.

Not sure what primary I plan on using yet but I'll definitely be rocking the Caesar as my secondary.

Oh, just give me any darn gun and I'll shoot things (anything that moves who are not teammates) if I have to. ^_^

I want to do mostly healing, but I will shoot anything in the face that's got the red aura (or acts strange if it's an operative), lol.

Anyway, I don't know if I'm doing Medium or Light body types, but in most of the few shooting games I DO play, I tend to use SMG's and any kind of rifle
and, in some games, AK47/M16 or whatever that generic gun that I get from most terrorist enemies, and sometimes pistols/repeaters.....(whatever those are).

I'd go for a shotgun, preferably modified to get the most range and accuracy, even if that means fire rate of nothing.
For a backup, some SMG with fairly low rate of fire, medium-high damage, large clip, and fair accuracy.

Shotgun for split-second encounters, ripping off a large chunk of health in one go, most likely in an ambush.

SMG for prolonged encounters, like if I see someone coming at me, I use the prolonged window of damage an automatic weapons gives.

I wouldn't use any weapons suited for long range, as a Medic's job is to get in, heal, retreat. He's very intimate with the action, and needs firepower focused on ~8-15 feet.

Ooh, that sounds like a good combo, there.

I totally forgot that Medics have to get close-range for buffs, so having a close-range gun would work in those cases.

I'll be rocking a light rifle and revolver so that I can kill from afar or weaken the enemy for my team and the enemy won't be able to do much from long distances.

Its really the most popular choice as far as I can tell. Second comes SMG or Light Rifles for their higher rate of fire. Edit: Don't forget range, duh.

I'm thinking a shotty-revolver combo for my medic. The shotguns look like medium range here and would fit my play-style well.

On a side note, If I were playing Medic, I'd most likely be seen wielding a shotgun. I prefer the burst dmg over an smg.

Edit: A side pistol would be my choice for secondary, something with an average clip size with a high rate of fire. More of a backup pistol really.

Conversely you could be a heavy rocking an auto shotty and watching your teammates back as you advance.

Go crazy. :celebration:

Im liking the shotgun idea for the medic because I think as a medic they will be in the thick of it.

Because it's all about personal preference and some people prefer revolvers.

As long as pistols aren't gimped I'll be carrying a pistol (possibly a revolver if there's one I like). I don't need 20 bullets when I can do the job with 2. The fun I used to have with pistols in CS, I miss pistols being useful.

I have to say i cant wait for the game and id go with the shotgun or sniper for medic to use back up support or choose to be in the action but its your choice really there will be many ways you can play the game theyve taken some restrictions out with smart.

my character choice will be sercurity ftw and either light opperative or light medic and use the HOCKLER Ftw. :gun:
Will be the best Fps game going love free running aspect. :bolt:

PS: Would love to play with a team on brink for online and campaign.

Same. Spent the last few years without a team/group to play with. Tired of playing with myself.

Indeed, and its something Ive picked up as instinct after playing CS for so many freaking years.
Something like 11 years.

I've played it much less but switching to pistol when low on ammo is already instinct.
(I recently glocked a guy with an AR after a firefight around some crates, sneaked up on him).
Still trying to remember to look at radar before rounding corner though.
I say for mid medic, you want to be versatile to complement their playstyle.
So, use equip straps to be adaptable.
Scoped Lobster for tagging.
Taped mags AR for bagging.

Pistols in MW2 were okay. I love to use a silenced USP.45 or Ext. Mags M9 in it. Without Stopping Power, of course.

Sure, but nothing like their status in Counter Strike, GoldenEye, or dare I say it, real life. People freak out when they spray their SMG like a fool and get dropped by one or two well placed shots from a pistol.

Or you end up like BO and have dual revolvers that fire super fast and accurately despite the fact that the player isn't aimed anywhere near the target.
