Optimal Medic Gun Combination

Post » Mon May 09, 2011 1:33 am

I am planning to be a Medium Medic (sec or res it doesn't matter).
I was wondering what guns would be best for that role. I understand play style has a lot to do with it but is there a combination of guns that would help me be a better medic?

Right now I'm thinking shotgun for close up stuff and smg for longer ranges (slightly longer).
AR would be good all around with maybe a revolver sidearm.

Are there specific gun combinations that would help other classes too?
Like shotty, smg for defending demolitons for soldiers.

Or is this entirely a personal play style issue?

I'm thinking a shotty-revolver combo for my medic. The shotguns look like medium range here and would fit my play-style well.

You got it.

On a side note, If I were playing Medic, I'd most likely be seen wielding a shotgun. I prefer the burst dmg over an smg.

Edit: A side pistol would be my choice for secondary, something with an average clip size with a high rate of fire. More of a backup pistol really.

Good call, just be sure you good on ammo...I don't know the reload speed in the game, but if it is anything like other games... Just be on the high side of a "clip"

I am going to be playing a Light medic, and use the either the Kross, Carb-9, Drognov and Berret. With this setup I'll allow fellow teammates to advance as I follow behind softening targets. Being a Light body type I can quickly maneuver the field and help players and if I die I can quickly get back to the action and repeat.

Indeed, and its something Ive picked up as instinct after playing CS for so many freaking years.
Something like 11 years.

Edit: Oh yeah, my STEAM account got hacked and VAC banned before it was returned to me, so as of 4 months ago, Ive run out of FPS to play.
And now I can't log in anymore, just never loads up with my account login.
BlackOPS, TF2, CS 1.6, CS:S, all the rest of the Valve games, SC:2, WH40K 1series and 2, and Global Agenda.
All gone.

Edit2: My Guild Wars account was also closed from being hacked. Sad thing about that is I don't have any information on the previous owner of the account
seeing as how it was given to me way back about 2 months after Prophecies was released. Talk about bad luck.

Since weapons are not dependant on class but on body type you can do whatever you want.

As hydra said be light and fast and provide sniper overwatch.

Conversely you could be a heavy rocking an auto shotty and watching your teammates back as you advance.

Go crazy. :celebration:

I plan on playing a Heavy medic with either the heavy shotgun and an assault rifle with a beta mag, or a Machine gun and a medium shotgun, depending on the size of the map I'm on. Either way, the idea is to have something I can spray for suppressive fire, and a close range weapon to make people back away from the patients.

Thought I would toss the link to the working list in incase anybody needs it.

My medic will likely be a medium, although I'm not certain yet, with an AR and a pistol as a sidearm.

I would say Mossington and either the Carb-9 or the Hockler.

I think I'd grab an assault rifle. Medic is the only one whose job isn't dependent on how you play, but rather on how the people around you did. Sometimes a guy will drop in a corridor and sometimes out in the middle of a huge open area. I think you'd need the most adaptable gun in the game.

I have to agree with that logic! But i'm assuming that you won't just have an Assault rifle. i was thinking something more like rifle with underbarrle nade launcher with optic sights. or something like that.

Oh definitely, I mean, who could say no to a grenade launcher? I'm starting to like the idea of a medic more and more actually. It's gone from my least favourite to the one I'm considering starting with. Going to be awesome.

well it does have the highest XP gain of the classes, but the only problem is that you will expect to see a ton of operatives and medics in the beginning then it will slowly even out once they find out that you can't win with half of the classes playing....

I didn't know about the XP. So much for my favourites, I want to be that balancing element in the game <_<

I think in BRINK there are three medic-playstyles, based on which bodytype you pick.

A Light can obviously not take care of all enemies quickly enough to revive the teammate quickly. So as a Light, you wouldn't focus around weapons, but around abilities which allow you to quickly move across the battlefield and toss out syringes (perhaps even while sliding from cover to cover. Light Medic Mastery).

A Medium has the option to take out a few enemies before approaching downed teammates. But as the Light he is not the one to clear the area before taking care of the team. So he will mainly use suppresive fire to push the enemies back for a moment, so he can throw around his healing gift.

A Heavy can actually focus on wiping out the enemy forces which have downed his teammates and relies rather on his health than his mobility (obviously). So a minigun or LMG could be a good pick for him.

Makes sense. I always just automatically think of the medic as a medium, whereas a tank-like medic might be pretty cool.

I think it kind of sad that the medic is as in all other RPG's and MMO's the most OP toon out there. some may say oh but you just use another tank like toon against them. but the truth is medics are the most OP.

OP? You mean because he can buff his own health?

If you have PS3 you can be 100% sure I'll be watching your back (and if I am not watching your back... I'll be going Daniel Ilabaca down the field and saving your ass)

Well yer that and it's also that it'salmost the rule book for making games with healers. Healers be the most OP and everyother toon falls by the way side. maybe it's different for Brink i don't know, I am hoping.
