No optino for First Recon to help with Drive Nephi?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 9:38 am

Ok, so I go to the Lt to ask for their help in taking out Driver Nephi and it's an optinal task on my Pipboy. But when I talk to him, no option comes up to ask him to help me. And after I talk with him, the optional task is gone from my Pipboy. Is this a bug or have I missed something. I'd like their help but I don't seem to be able to ask them for it. Anyone? Thanks.

Its probably a bug. I have 3 quests that I am unable to complete due to the same kind of bugs.

It's possible that you've already killed Driver Nephi. All the fiends on the bounty list can be killed before the bounties are given. I had already killed two of them when I first started the quest.

Thanks but I haven't been near him. And remember, I said I still the the mission to kill him from the officer, I just can't get First Recon to join me.

You don't need their help to take Nephi out - you should be able to get him on your own and complete the quest just fine regardless of whether you've spoken to Gorobets or not.

In fact, I'd recommend just going ahead and killing Nephi without their help in any case - it's much easier just to finish Nephi off in that dump you find him in rather than following the more time-consuming and roundabout approach that Gorobets suggests if you want his help. (in my own playthroughs I spoke to Gorobets and asked for his help just for the hell of it but ended up killing Nephi myself every time)

You'll actually be better off if you go it alone, I think. You'll be more careful to not mangle his head.

I know all that but that's not really the point :)

Ah. Well then to go back to your other question - it's probably a bug. New Vegas seems to have quite a few of these - conversation options that don't go the way they should (or disappear outright) if you don't do things in the "right" order.

Ah, figured it. I had already killed him without knowing while going to kill Violet before getting the Nephi mission. It seems though that if you do this, the game doesn't recognize it in any way.

I had his head in my inventory, and was able to inform Major Dahtri that I had killed him when he wanted me to go take him out. I also ran into him on the way to collect violet's head.....
