Option to Remove spells from your spell list?

Post » Sun Feb 13, 2011 1:09 am

After a while I had so many spells that it was just overflowing with them. I had the ones I used the most on the hotkeys, but when I wanted to look for a spell it took quite a few minutes. Will there be an option to remove a spell that we just don't use/need anymore?

Yes please! If it's outdated, I don't use it any more, and I've got a more powerful version that's actually- y'know, useful- let me get rid of it!

EDIT: Of course now I'm going to cause a riot when some people see me actually support an idea...

Wouldn't mind the ability to remove a spell. But now with favorites it seems it's going to be less of a nuisance compared to what it was.

Not being able to delete spells causes only one thing: Save Game bloat. We need to be able to delete them. Morrowind had it, why didn't Oblivion?

I suspect that with the new 'improved' spell system there will be no need for delete, at the very least I guess the idea of more, or less, powerful versions no longer applies :(

Pure speculation of course and if spell making does make it into the final game then yes, delete is a must.

I'd like to be able to delete unused spells, but I'd also be satisfied with being able to move any spells I don't use into a separate "Junk" tab or something similar.

allow people to make "folders" of their spells so they can hide spells in them an put all the "useful" ones in an easy spot.

Pretty much this, but for eveything. Clothes/armor, Weapons, SCROLLS, KEYS, artifacts, books.... EVERYTHING!

I would rather a favorites list.... like you have all your spells in one folder right... and then it says press X to open favorites folder... :foodndrink:

Yes, wholeheartedly. Let us shift-click to delete a spell like we could in Morrowind.

I'd like to be able to delete spells and organize my spellbook. Or at least a better way to sort spells.

well with no more spell making this probably wont be a problem since we just need the base spell and there would be no real reason why we have extra ones to delete

I doubt it. I craved the ability to delete a spell well before I got into the Arcane University in Oblivion. Novice and Apprentice spells got pretty useless pretty quick.

but spell and spell effects could be the same thing, just your level determines how you use it. so you wouldn't get a spell that is fire damage 3sec on target you would get a spell that is fire damage

i meant it as you can create and place folders so you can make a favorites folder and then have a separate folder for everything else or have them sorted by fire, frost, etc, but allow you to place rules on them, kinda like iTunes Playlists. like your desktop for your computer, you keep the things you use the most close at hand and everything else is linked to by a folder and requires a bit of digging or something. perhaps you can make your favorites quickly avaible and then everything else gets put in a single other folder of junk. if you understand what i am trying to say.

That would be awesome. I enjoy making hundreds of spells for trial and error, to find out what suits me best, and to try out different methods and combinations.

i want to pick the spells my mage has in his memory and to forget them (delete) if i dont use them. i also want to collect all my spells in spell books for later reference. this way i can relearn them and use them later if i wish to. whats the point of being a mage if i dont have a bunch of spell books to read through.

It depends on what spells we get, and how they function with levels.
If every spell is tiered and becomes mostly useless after X levels this is a great idea of the OP.

However if spells are more leveled to the players level, then it may not be needed.
Certain spells were good to have around such as lower level damage ones.
As you just had to make weakness X to magic + elements spells for 3 secs, then use a cheap damage one.
Or they came in handy for leveling up skills on helpless fools that dropped down pits.

I do know where you're coming from and if this was made possible it would be an improvement. As I upgraded spells, I still had to scroll through a long list of spells I no longer used. I'd ask for this option to be included. I'd like to store old spells in a chest. :)
