2 Options that need to be in every modern PC game @ launch

Post » Sat Mar 29, 2014 3:43 am

I already pre-ordered so i am playing my free 30 days + early access.. but until they add True-Fullscreen which enables Multi-GPU support (Crossfire/SLI) and FOV slider, i will not be giving zenimax any sub money. These days with the graphic fidelity available on the PC platform (multi-gpu's sometimes required to hit 120+ FPS on max graphics options) and 120-144hz monitors there is absolutley no self respecting PC game that should not have FOV adjustments and a true-fullscreen option out of the box. Not really complaining, i enjoy the game but these 2 options need to be in every pc game at release/launch.

Not sure if I would demand that a FOV slider be included with every game at launch, as it is has been my experience that most games do not come with that option, however, I am totally on board with the True Full Screen(e.g. SLI support, SHadowplay, AA). No reason at all in 2014.

I thought I've seen people talking about using Crossfire/SLI already, no?

I hear mixed things. SOme people say they can force it via the nvidia control panel, and other saying it doesn't work. I don't have SLI, but wanted to use Shadowplay, and not to mention get some anti-aliasing and possibly a better framerate as a result of true full screen.

Ah, so it's not officially supported yet, but it works for some.

I have crossfire, but it seems to be working, My FPS almost never drops. Why do people threat about quitting the game if they don't have X or Y or Z in it? Why not give feedback and give ZOS time to add XYZ to the game. MMO are very complex software and they have to be very very careful not to make more bugs. I bet their number one concern ATM is launch, then have to work on the console side plus making content / end game content for all the platforms. Their plate is full, they said they are looking into a FOV slider and true full screen, but it is not easy just to add that into a game in 3 secs.

Can the OP help ZOS out?

Well they have mentioned that full screen would be implemented. But not really if it was on release or later.

Personally I want it so I can use adaptive vsync and shadowplay.

They have stated it will be added after launch, but really, it should have been there to begin with. Very sloppy.

I tried forcing SLI through the control panel, it caused a massive drop in frame rate over even using one card.

I agree, very sloppy for 2014...

They've already said they plan to add both.

Its not sloppy if you concider they only added first person view because 'we'' the gamer demanded they added it, so they were awesome and added first person.

What's the deal with the FOV slider? Is this related to multi-monitor support, or just being able to see more around you (pvp advantage)?

I hope you get what you're asking for. I know it's hard for developers to get everything they want in a game finished before their financial situation forces the game out the door, but full screen support doesn't seem like the kind of thing you would leave until after launch day.

FOV = Field of Vision which depents in your screen resolution

Yes, a greater field of vision gives advantage in PvP

Instructions unclear, $%^& caught in Cyrodiil!

More specifically, I was asking is the request for a slider just to provide the option so that you can see more in PvP, or is it also being requested because it's necessary for people to get the appropriate Field of View if they are running 3 monitors side by side? Due to my work set up it's been too much of a hassle to switch to a 3 monitor set up but I've always been curious about tripple-monitor gaming and want to enjoy it vicariously.

Thanks for the reply ;)

I have 3x monitor setup and it really really helps one to get into the game. Been playing Oblivion like that way and it is really fun! (at 4800x900 res)

well, I don't know about you, but, I refuse to play any MMOs until they give me unilateral power to banhammer [censored] [censored] people at my own discretion...

Just ccurious what OP plans to do with those extra FPS as anything above 60 is a waste. Your optical nerve cannot process more than that.

No game needs SLI or XFire these days. Literally the only reasons to do so are if you have crappy gfx cards by todays standards or you are mining crypto currencies. 0 other reason to use one and it will have little to no effect in eso regardless.

Most of the fov slider issue is pertaining to first person only. I believe the way it is now is only like 60 and alot of people get nauseous playing that way. Most other first person games have a fov slider that goes as high as 110. For me a fov slider will make first person way more viable and fun. I don't care for the horse blinders we have currently.
