Orc Armour Pic

Post » Wed May 18, 2011 11:09 pm

i think the pic is quite old and is more focused on the map but if you look to the right there is some concept art of the orc armour, i don't know if this has been posted already, but hey, there ya go....

Morrowind armour - Japanese
Oblivion armour - Chinese
Skyrim armour - Mongol

I like all three styles of orc armour, though probably Oblivion's the most, partly because it's less bulky and I've never been a big bulky armour fan. The Oblivion one had pretty awful helmets though.

Unless it was revealed today, then you can bet that it's been posted before.

Regardless, it looks pretty cool. It looks more like Morrowind's Samurai-esque Orc armor as opposed to Oblivion's.

It looks really cool actually, definitely an improvement over Oblivion's orc armor which I liked a lot.

Yup... and I assume it's this: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IKzrWIsV5q4/Tawwxvs8MfI/AAAAAAAAAhw/aZz4JYD6Wv4/s1600/skyrim_orc.jpg
Looks cool, except one could wish for better textures.

The orc race looks visually better than Oblivion which is nice, ive always liked playing as an orc my first playthrough in Skyrim will be with a Nord but definitely will go with an orc second.

Thats still the difference between Morrowind and Oblivion. Which was fairly immense.

It could be, but the concept art looks much darker, less red and more oriental styled. Honestly, they don't look that alike.

I loved Morrowind's orcish armor, it seems that out of all armors in TES games orcish always looks the coolest, to me anyway.

The thing that looks alike to me is the pointy pauldron-thing and how the shoulder of the armour look. Also look like it might be the same blade. Finally... an orc wears it :P

But yeah, I wonder why it's so dark. Perhaps it was because of the view the camera or something. I can't see why one would paint such a dark concept art for armour otherwise.
It could also be that those who made the models made it brighter.

ATM I don't think they're the same. The shoulder blades on the screen look much bigger and blunter (more rounded edges) and just generally it doesn't give off an even vaguely Mongol look, where I get a completely different vibe from the concept. I don't think it's the lighting either, since other images in the frame look plenty bright.

EDIT: Let's just say if it is the same, I'm a little dissapointed, it looks much more badass in the concept art.

For me, it's some kind of "Mongol Dark Lord" armor. I like it a lot.

What game have you EVER seen where the concept art is the same as what actually makes it into the game?

While there may certainly be changes between concept art and actual in-game models, you can usually see that the ingame models are based on the concept art, seeing as that's sort of what concept art is for, but here, I'm not really seeing much resemblance, though to be fair, the image is fairly small and looks a little dark, and for that reason, I can't really be certain if it's supposed to be the same armor or not. And also because of that, I'm reserving judgement on the orcish armor until we've seen a clearer image of it, or even better, an in-game screenshot that is confirmed to be orcish armor. For the orc picture, we must keep in mind here that orcs don't necessarily have to wear orcish armor.

I don't get the Mongol thing. Looks very European to me, especially with that plume and visor.
