Orc: two handed or one handed?

Post » Fri Oct 18, 2013 12:55 pm

hi ... need opinions please... I started an Orc fighter/warrior but I am undecided to use perks towards one handed or two handed?

I want to lean towards one handed because they are quicker and I also like to have another hand for destruction like fire or sparks.

But I am hearing also that the Orcs are perfect for two handed like the Battle Axe?

I am only level 5 so I am starting to put my perks towards heavy armor and one of these weapon styles...

help!

thanks !

Orcs start with an extra boost in Two Handed, but that only matters early game. If you want to use spells and magic at the same time, go One Handed. Though if you have never tried Two Handed, I'd suggest giving a shot. It's fun if you've never used it before.

The way I see it Orcs are meant to wield blunt weapons so either maces or warhammers would be fine, though I'd lean more towards warhammers.

One handed, duel wielding orc berserker.

Though if you plan on playing the character for a while why restrict yourself? Spend points on both.

well OP, it really depends on which play-style you prefer.. there really is no "correct" choice in this instance..

nah, Orcs are meant to use Axes.. wasn't there a rumor in Oblivion "Nothing is scarier then an Orc with an Axe"?

Strange, I swear it was Nord=axes Orcs=blunt and Redguards=blade

I always imagine Orcs in fantasy settings wielding clubs which is also another reason why I think they are meant to carry blunt weapons.

went and looked it up, when you defeat an Orc in the Arena Owyn (The Arena Master) tells you:

granted, Axes in Oblivion were considered Blunt weapons, so in a way we are both correct :)

I always imagine an Orc with a two handed battle axe although I suppose they can carry any weapon they like (whose going to argue with one?) LOL. i think for this reason and just because I like it, i may just go with perking up two handed and strive to get myself a powerful enchanted battle axe.

If I want to use destruction there's no reason I cant switch it up mid fight with the favorites buttons..

hehe been replaying Morrowind too much lately which is why I kind of made a differentiation between the two.

Orcs are pretty much the best warrior race IMO. Boosts to all warrior skills except archery (the +10 to heavy armor makes getting to level 70 easier), a boost in enchanting if you plan to use that, and while they have no passive abilities, their racial power, berserker rage, is very useful at all levels and is extremely powerful. This means that you can pretty much choose whatever fighting style you want as far as melee weapons. Hell you might even be able to do both 1 and 2-handed. Orcs are not better or worse with swords, axes or maces/hammers, so again, choose whatever you like. One thing to consider here is attack speed versus stagger ability. Regular swords are pretty spotty as far as staggering enemies. War axes are noticably better, and Maces will do it pretty regularly. Two handers in general will almost always stagger an enemy with a power attack, with the warhammer almost being a guarentee.

Personally, i like my current "Grunt" build: Heavy armor, smithing, block (with shield), one handed (war axe), and lockpicking (sort of simulates the pillage ability from Warcraft 3).

Either way is perfectly feasible but I personally prefer 2 handing with my orcs, and specifically warhammer. Still working towards acquiring a dragonbone warhammer which will just suit my orc perfectly.
