Orcish Mythology

I meant them more as nouveau riche industrialists than effete and courtly. The new kids on the block with gaudy taste. Dark leather everything, Orcs in the back sippin' 'gnac y'all wassup?

If given enough fleshing out, especially along the line of what Huraren wrote, they could turn into one of the more interesting races of the series. They definitely have the potential given the little bit of info we do know about them.

Thank you Huraren.

I like the stuff concerning the centipedes. We need more shaggy centipede lore in general. Now someone explain how they are mythically significant (like how their wanderings mimic the movements of the serpent in the firmament that orthodox orcs refuse to look at directly or something).

Also we need a document that explains why Malacath is the most important actor in all the mythic in a way that is totally up in the faces of everyone who thought he was just some leftover dung, hardly noticed within the divine roster. Because Malacath as the center of the universe is just to good to pass up.

Edit: Obviously the release and subsequent hunting of the matriarch-form centipedes is a great ritual undertaking. The hunters reenact their creation myth with meticulous detail for to aproach a matriarch-centipede in any other way would be inconceivable. Also the creature's (proper) death triggers it's reproductive cycle.

So, Happy Gilmore orcs?

Edit: Albides' http://www.monkeytruth.net/texts/orccreation.shtml is alive, and I can't imagine MK not using it. ( Please say you have, MK! ) It's pretty much my favorite ever. That still leaves a place for 'Lessons for Iron Chewing' and 'Power-Farting like a Boss' by Nobody gra-Cares.

Mauloch's realm is 'nebulous', and he's a turd, the ultimate outcast. Without Auri-el, or a God to Champion, Trinimac is changed into Mauloch. What happens to our heroes, when their story's over? Nobody cares. He's like the appendix, because most everyone believed he was useless. That is, until recently, when it was decided the appendix is a useful producer of white blood-cells.

Edit: Wrong movie, the one I'm thinking of is Mr. Deeds.

I know I'm in the minority on this (wasn't it declared 'good enough to be canon lore' or something by MK?), but I am not the hugest fan of the Orc Creation Myth. It's well-written and interesting, but it could be a bit more concise. Maybe I'm calling it self-indulgent?
And I think it's a bit too 'In the beginning, there was... and so..." The kind of puffed-up King James Version styling that seems so out of place in what is usually a much more 'exotic' and esoteric body of lore.

I'd somewhat agree; its my favorite piece of TES fan-fic, but I'd prefer to see MK rewrite it if it is going to be included in skyrim (and I truly hope it is)

Also, huaren, would you mind posting a link to some of your other musings?

Who's telling the story?

Edit: My only issue is the beginning, when the orc reveals he's not speaking, but writing.

My signature has a link to some mediocre fanfic, and a tumblr which should give you some idea of how I envision valenwood (I have about 5 times as many pictures still on my hard drive, but uploading to tumblr got to be a pain in the ass).

Most of my 'musings' are in the form of very rough notes. I wrote those paragraphs about orcs for this thread. I'm not usually so organized.
Maybe I'll get to writing some more stuff on my favourite topic, Bosmer (or Meh Boiche in Bos... oh, did I mention there's a language? Christ.), although I am lazy and have some romantic attachment to the idea of lore being revealed slowly through fiction rather than artless infodumps like I did here.

I know you could make a wicked guide for Valenwood.
