Orcs and Chain Spells

Post » Fri May 25, 2012 9:06 pm

Hi there folks :twirl: Thought I`d put this post up in order to prove you don`t need to be a High Elf or Breton to be a powerful magic user. This Orc character is probably the best build I`ve had in a very long time, and playing around with Chain Spells is loads of fun  He`s level 50 at the moment and here`s how the stats look - Health 681 Magicka 354 Fatigue 414.He`s completely off the wall an nothing like a normal Orc build, but still performs as well as any other Orc warrior. Here`s his major skills - Heavy Armour, Conjuration,Destruction,Illusion,Restoration,Marksman,Sneak.Your first aim should be to get Destruction,Illusion and Restoration all up to 50,then buy Fortify Magicka and Weakness to Magic spells.
Chain Spells are by far the most powerful in the game, and once mastered - they`ll give you countless hours of enjoyment. Here`s the general setup for chain spells:

1) The 50 magicka chain spell:

* fortify magicka 100 pts for x sec on self
* any spell effects you desire to use the 50 magicka

2) The 100 magicka chain spell:

* fortify magicka 100 pts for x sec on self
* drain magicka 3 pts for x sec on self
* any effects you desire to use the 100 magicka

3) The 300 magicka chain spell:

* fortify intelligence 100 pts for x sec on self
* fortify magicka 100 pts for x sec on self
* drain magicka 3 pts for x sec on self
* any effects you desire to use the 300 magicka

Here`s an example of a 100 destruction 100 magicka spell to give you an idea:

* fortify magicka 100 pts for 3 secs on self
* drain magicka 3 pts for 3 secs on self
* invisibility for 3 secs on self
* fire damage 100 pts for 1 sec on target
* weakness to fire 100% for 3 secs on target
* weaknesss to magic 100% for 3 secs on target.

So there you have it,Orcs can indeed be excellant magic users  once you`ve got the hang of these basic formulas - then you`re off and running. You can do allsorts, like if you`re sick an tired of mages running away from you all the time then throw in - paralyze for 1 or 2 secs on target and laugh at the continous loop you put the mage into,as he stands up and falls down again constantly :woot: I realise a lot of people will already know this information, but there is also a lot of people who don`t,so this post is for their benefit

No problem friend  I`ve noticed a few people are still saying they can`t get Orcs to do magic etc...so thought I`d stick this post up to show everyone how I do it.Glad I`ve changed your opinion

Three seconds is too little time to get a second whack or spell hit in though. Or maybe I have slower reflexes than you. I don't know, I can be a twitchy shooter.

Once you get your Destruction,Illusion, restoration up high enough, then you can increase it to 5 or 6 secs,I just put 3 secs as a rough guideline really.

Well done! And orcs have that wonderful 25% magic resistance and born knowing the mighty 'drain attribute' ability for custom spellmaking/enchanting.

Just for completeness: There's a down-side to chain spells, too. They completely drain your magicka when you stop firing, and the fortify wears off. So if you get attacked again by an enemy you didn't notice, you'd better have a potion handy to get you going again. The potion also needs to be instant - Potion of Sorcery rather than Restore Magicka. The more points the destruction part takes, the more magicka you need to regain before you're back in action.

On the other hand, if you're an Orc, you can probably just take out an axe for a while and wait for it to come back on its own!

At level 50 any race can master anything. I played an Orc mage (birthsign) to level 35 and finished all vanilla guilds and most OOO quests. Now I am playing a Redguard. To compensate for low Intelligence and magicka, in the "dumber" races, I use one sigil stone that enhances magicka and put points into Intelligence and Willpower. The differences become less as one levels up.

I agree  any race can master anything, plus any race can master chain spells also. Its good to see someone else playing an Orc as a mage rather than the usual warrior type. Its the first time I`ve ever took any character that high, like you I`ve done all the guilds and completed the main story,so I thought what the heck,I`ll just keep playing

Orcs are sixy! Skyrim did them better though, same with Argonians, I mean even I agreed that the male Argonian voice in Skyrim was just..*drool*

Erm...anyway It's really not that hard to make a Mage Orc, I done several, the only differences in race a bit in the starting stats and looks, of course the Racial skill, I never really done chain spells though.
Also I freaking <3 Orcs, Renee should know :3 I have a Orc for everything :| (Mage/Rogue/Warrior types)

What's wrong with Argonians!? They're cute when they smile.

OP: this is a neat build, well done. I might consider trying this out when I've modded out my game (so I can include a mod that makes orcs look a bit more aesthetically pleasing to play)
