Orcs ?

orcs are twisted elves they are supposed to be ugly, not savage and somehow pretty...
I think they looked fine in Oblivion they pretty much looked the same in Morrowind, could you even be an Orc in Daggerfall? I don't remember.

psh i loved the orcs. and similiarity between them and nords are to be expected. They are essentially the same type of characters. Orcs being a little more gifted in armoring and heavy armor and nords being a bit faster. But they are both essentially barbarians and fighter types so they will sound the same when talking. i had no problem with it. I dont want orcs to be overly monsterous because it takes that "human" element out o fthem. I love the orc characters in the game and i think they should actually make them a bit smarter. Maybe tougher faces but not uglier faces. Orcs are my favorite race of all time. then argonians.

I thought everyone in Oblivion looked like balloon-animal versions of themselves. :whistling:

I just want their skin to be more sallow.

Brown and dark skin and no more bright greens. Ok maybe a little, just so my character can be his own glow in the dark orc.

Brown or yellow like the one in Morrowind, green looks cartoony. Somewhat darker voices, the body and face is ok.

I wouldn't mind them getting changed a little bit

I just hope they don't have all the orcs in the world and all the nords in the world with the same voice actor. Anyone else notice that? They have the same voice.

I agree they shouldn't have the same voice actor. Orcs should sound mean and tough, Nords should be similar but more barbaric and different then Orcs.

I'd say that Oblivion's orc design was mostly fine, the problems with them were mostly ones that all the other races in the game had, so I'd say that if Bethesda fixes the problems with the Oblivion faces, the orcs would look better too. I guess I wouldn't mind darkening their skin a bit, as I tend to try to get darker skin than the default orc NPCs when I make them in Oblivion anyway, other than that, though, I think Bethesda has the right idea. Orcs aren't supposed to entirely fit what most humans would call "pretty", but the Elder Scrolls orcs aren't supposed to be savage monsters either, so making them like the orcs from the Lord of the Rings movies wouldn't make any sense. Besides, the orcs in the Lord of the Rings movies don't really fit my vision of orcs that well anyway.

In OB there was one Orc in Cheydinhal who looked like the man off of the tango advert.

As my favourite race I would like to see Orcs a little reworked. However, stereotyping them into ugly brutes is going a bit far. I'd definitely like to see a more aggressive face, and a slightly more beast like animation to them (not to the same extent as Kajiit or Argonians though). Improved voicework would go a long way too, maybe slightly huskier, and deeper. Not stupid though, Orcs are capable of intelligence just like every other race. You must remember that they are cursed Mer so they have to retain a semblance of that Elvish look. A browny green tinge to the skin would be good.

I think they look fine. Just need a bit more work and different voice actors.

The option to give them tattoos, piercings, and facial hair would also help.

the orcs appearance is fine, but they should have angrier facial expressions and louder angrier voices

edit: orcs appearance is fine, they should have angrier facial expressions, louder angrier voices, paler skin, no eyebrows, and are considered beast npcs with their own walking animation

I thought Orcs served a perfect role in oblivion: Mostly civilized, but almost always hiding a core of aggression (not necessarily violent, but very assertive.) The Skooma dealer gang in (I think) Cheydinhall was one of the best examples. The orcs would close dialogue repeatedly. From Dulfish gro-Orum, taken from the UESP wiki:

""Get lost. Or I'll pull your arm off.". The next time, he'll reply with "You don't listen? You stupid? Crot. I'm wasting my breath. Then go ahead. Stand there. Talk all you want. You're a fly. Go ahead and buzz." but will at least let you ask about Cheydinhal, to which he will politely respond "Look. A fly. Buzz, buzz. Hey. Look everybody! I'm talking to a fly! Buzz, buzz, buzz!". After that he will only ever say "Buzz, buzz, buzz. Go away, little fly."."

This was so astoundingly annoying I actually wanted to punch the guy. I think that went over great to get the right feel of how a hostile orc would act in a place where hostility gets you beaten by guards.

Orcs seemed to be for comic relief in OB. I don't mind levity but the bright green skin, pig noses, purple lips gotta go. I'd prefer a more menacing take on the cursed ones.

I agree thoroughly. I'd love to play an Orc, but they're just too stupid looking. I don't think they need to be made to look like evil brutes LotR style, they just need to be made not so goofy, cooler that is.

That exchange would have been better though if the orc had 'looked' more intimidating.

The orcs in both Morrowind and Oblivion were a little too tame for my taste. They need a good kick in the pants. I hope they take advantage of some of the lore and throw some conflict in there between orcs and the other races.

I prefer the more beastly and savage orcs as it shows there hatred for the empire dating back to Pre Daggerfall era when they weren't even consider to part of the empire, and it shows the corruption of the elves when boethiath ate trinimac so basically I am saying I want them to be Savage the orcs in TES are too Tamed.

I just started a new Oblivion game using a warrior themed Orc and thought he was fine.

Admittedly a little green (but that can be changed using the complexion slider during character generation).

sure, the voice sounds like a nord, but that's a minor complaint.

And how are Oblivion Orcs cuddly...?
They're all rounded and smoothed out like little plush dolls. The dark elves look like big bluish plumbs.

I still have a game mag with Miss Orc 6 on the cover. That really rocked my thinking about Orcs. I may want to revise what I said earlier in this thread. What a "greenie" can do.

I actually kind of like ES Orcs. They give you the impression of being on the fringe between civilization and savagery, much like the Dunmer. But where the Dunmer are a little closer to civilization, Orcs are a little closer to savagery. It's an interesting dynamic and a nice switch from LotR "OMG eeeeeeeevil" orcs. ;)

Since Orsinium and Skyrim share the Wrothgarian Mountains as a common border, and considering how often they do work together-ever raided a Maurader Den?-They should add a few half orcs into the game.

I really dont care as long as they aren't cuddly. ;)

You must be talking about the Khajiit if you're talking about cute characters. They're all cute as kittens, and that's how I want them. Especially in dialogue with those ears.
