Orcs, yeah...

Post » Sat Jun 23, 2012 4:29 am

They are extremly ugly, and I have spent hours to try and make mine look human-ish and it has ended in failure. There are hardly any hair styles and the one that looks OK is pulled back so far on the head, it's actually worse than others. Does anyone have any tips on how to make an Orc look humanoid, without mods please, as I'm playing on the Xbox.

I don't think Orcs are supposed to look human - humans don't tend to have huge tusks ;)

But I have no idea. Perhaps bringing the jaw back, thinning the face and making it less bulky?

I would say try and make your Orc look like an Orc, rather than more like a mer (human). There'd be no point in different races if they all had strictly human features.
I love the way Orcs look even with their bright green skin (though i'll admit Skyrim did them better). Anyway, if you can't love the Orc for what it is chances are, even if you get him looking close to what you want, it will probably be a short relationship between you and your character.

Here's the thing, in Skyrim I made my Orc how I wanted him to be, and felt that it was right to make this character, I want to do something similar in Oblivion. I'll take Solitudian's advice and see how it works out.
P.S. Even though it wouldn't be the first playstyle for an Orc, I'm going to try and make him stealthy, using Destruction and Mysticism, using the Beserk power in a pinch.

I see what you mean. If I'm having a hard time creating my character just so I usually put all the sliders to an extreme (all the way left or right) and then bring them more central. Sometimes that helps rather than slowly adjusting from the middle.
Best of luck.

I've spent forever on it, it's a lost cause. Just accept your character for who he is and love him, like I did! :D

Yes, and if we want to get technical ... Orcs ARE mer! Their 'official' name is OrisMER, and are a race of elves. They don't really match the stereotypical Elf look though ...

Yeah they made them look terrible in Oblivion, like Shrek.

Orcs had some strange features in Oblivion which set them apart from the other races far more compared to the other games. For one they had a very angled forehead. They just looked more silly as opposed to cool and intimidating.
