Quest. White flask (part 2)
Type. Alchemist secondary quest in Windhelm
Description. After i complete the first part of the quest (retrieve the white flask), the alchemist ask me to find 3 composants to repair it. I had previously found some needed hearts, all of them became quest items and even if i found more, no one validate the quest. So i'm unable to finish the quest, and unable to use any of my hearts in alchemy.
How to replicate. I've found nothing but i think that removing, using or eating the hearts from my inventory before i take the quest may solve the problem.

Quest: The Forsworn Conspiracy

Type: Side Quest

Description: Ever since I completed this side quest the guards in Markarth always try to arrest me. The problem with this is that the options the guard gives me ends up in a endless loop, so I can't do anything but to kill him or run away. This means that I can't finish quest lines such as the Thieves Guild, Civial War or Dark Brotherhood. Its really frustrating.

Stats: Around level 35, 50 hours.

*Quest: Waking Nightmare
*Type: Daedric quest (Vaermina)
*Description: The mage you are supposed to enter with ends up at the very end of the dungeon and it is impossible to progress without him. According to the wiki, he is supposed to unlock the way into Vaermina's shrine but since he is at the end of the dungeon, there is no way I can get anywhere in the quest.
How To Replicate: I believe this happens when you enter the dungeon right after he does, in which case he will just spawn at the end.
Stats: It was pretty early on in the game, I might have been around level 20 or so, but I ignored the quest at the time and continued on and now I'm around level 50 with 60+ hours and I'm finding out that the quest is bugged.
Other: This is the only quest so far that has glitched for me. It prevents me from getting the achievement for getting all the Daedric artifacts and Daedric quests are also my favorite ones, so it is unfortunate to see that this one is not working.

Quest: Revealing the Unseen

Type: College of Winterhold

Description: Near the end, you have focus the Oculory by shooting the crystals with flames or frostbite, but i can't make the crystals move, i've tried everything, but the crystals refuse to move at all

How to Replicate:
Get to the room where you have to focus the crystals
Put the focusing crystal in place
Either leave the dungeon or shut off the system, either should work

Stats: Not entirely sure about the hours but I was level 20

Forbidden Legend
Find the Gaulder Amulet Fragment in Geirmund's Hall
Side Quest

Went to retrieve the Amulet but it wasn't there. I cleard this area early in the game when I was like level 7 ish I'm level 50 now. I don't remember if I looted it off the dead boss but I don't think I did. The marker is about where I killed the boss but his body is missing. The dungeon repopulated but its a different boss at the end.

Sorry for not following the template exactly, I already had these typed up before I saw this thread and I'm kinda tired of re-typing all the bugs I come across.

Quest: In My Time of Need

If you side with the girl, and kill the Redguard warriors & leader, you'll later find two redguard warriors lurking just inside the entrance to Whiterun. They appear to be the ones that start the quest chain by getting refused entry to the town. They won't respond to chat, never move or leave, and the area starts to lag badly with them present.

Conversely, if you choose to side with the Redguards, their leader sometimes shows up alone when you prepare the ambush. All his followers freeze up in their lair and become un-responsive. This can cause the quest to be impossible to complete

Quest: Bounty (Dragon Slaying for Jarl of Dawnstar)

After killing the dragon and 'handing in' the quest to the Jarl, you are given the bounty of 500g but there is no 'quest complete' message, and the quest remains in your log permanently. Apparently you can then receive the quest again multiple times, causing it to 'flood' your quest list with no way to complete/remove it.

Quest: Waking Nightmare

If you enter the ruins with a (paid for) companion, he is forced to stay outside. If you then go back outside and tell him to go home, he tells you he can be re-hired for free, and 'you know where to find me'. However, he does not return home - instead he lurks in the area fighting snowcats, and if you re-hire, you'll be charged again - even though he remembers you.

Quest: Forbidden Legend

Inside one of the three dungeons, I think it was Folgunthur, there is a puzzle with four levers and a series of gates. I believe the combination is generated when you enter the dungeon. It is possible for a 'bad' combination to occur, ie it is impossible to have all the gates open at once and thus you cannot proceed or complete the quest. The only way to fix it is to reload a saved game from before entering the dungeon (the auto-save on entry is 'too late') and hope for the best.

Quest: Flight or Fight
Type: Miscellaneous
Description: Help Grosta at http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Heartwood_Mill locate her missing husband Leifnarr.
How To Replicate: Leifnarr's body, labeled Nord, is found behind a secret wall in http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Broken_Helm_Hollow. Clicking on the body gives the player the quest stage "Report Leifnarr's death to his family". Back at Heartwood Mill, there is no dialogue option to do so. Thus, no way to complete the quest.
Stats: I've tried this miscellaneous quest both ways; starting from Heartwood Mill and simply finding his body in Broken Helm Hollow.
Both directions attempted from character levels 6 thru 18, multiple times each way.
Playing time ranged from 12 to 26 hours with Save file size averaging 5-6M.
Other: Definitely bugged; just search the forums for Leifnarr. There is simply no way to clear this quest. It doesn't matter whether you get it from Grosta or first find the body.

Edit: With a game this ambitious, bugs are to be expected on initial release and should be fleshed-out within the first few patches. This is understood by most players and we appreciate the effort. I've been playing TES games since Daggerfall and will continue to do so.
But, this mole hill of glitched quests is quickly becoming a mountain. A game/hobby should provide entertainment and relaxation, not a resigned shrug of the shoulders.
Just a thought

*Quest:Revealing The Unseen
*Type: college of winterhold
*Description: When I go to turn in the quest to savo & mirabelle they go on to try and stop ancano. The flash happens and mirabelle ask if im alright ( finishing the quest ) then ask me to find Savo but then she gives me the normal dialog when you normal talk to her and the quest "containment" doesnt appear. If i go out to the courtyard I can find savo's body on the ground but cant loot it and none of the NPC react to it. Also i can see ancano walking around the college when he should be inside with the magi eye thing lol. Pretty much I finish this quest and it wont start the next quest.
How To Replicate: I reload last save and it still bugged, Tryed a new play through, still bugged

Quest: Season Unending
Type: Main Questline
Description: One of the objectives with this quest is to speak to Ulfric Stormcloak and convince him to attend the peace meeting with the empire at High Hrothgar. I've been able to speak to the General Tullius and have persuaded him to go but am unable to speak with Ulfric. If I try to interact with him, all he says is something like 'Didn't Galmar have work for you?' but no menu is shown (Like the guards) Before I started this quest, I started the quest 'Joining The Stormcloaks' but never bothered finishing it so I guess that is why.

So I decided maybe it will be fixed if I finished Galmar's quest. I killed an Ice Wraith and returned to Galmar to find him and Ulfric discussing a plan. After this I attempted to speak with Galmar but all that happened was he spoke (No menu again) 'I can't believe you convinced Ulfric to meet with the Empire. Worse than a waste of time if you ask me' Although I actually haven't convinced Ulfric as the Greybeards tell me I still need to gather everyone. When I now go to speak to Ulfric he tells me (No menu again) 'Speak with Galmar. You'll be going on a little errand with him.'
How To Replicate:
  • Begin Quest 'Joining The Stormcloaks' but do not finish.
  • Begin Quest 'Season Unending'
  • Try to speak to Ulfric
Stats: Was hour 50 something at lvl 28 or something but I've seen reports from lots of other people so this doesn't seem to matter.
Other: I was able to bring a chat menu up with Ulfric once. He told me to see Galmar about signing up and then I had two options to choose:
  • Yes Sir - I didn't choose this
  • That isn't why I'm here - When I selected this he asked why I was there and then the only option I was given was '...' which ended the conversation.
I had an idea to maybe join the legion and hopefully that would rule out the Stormcloak stuff but it turns out I can't talk to Legate Rikke either. All she says is 'Talking peace with Ulfric? You must be an optimist' (No menu)
I never got this quest. Maybe it's because I finished the war story line before I got this far? 0.0

If it's any help, on this one, you are 100% correct that having briar hearts before the courier delivers you the note will cause this quest to bug out. Have tested this.

I completely agree. I've had many a time when an enemy has fallen into water and then just floated there unresponsive whilst I fling arrows at their face in a desperate attempt to dispatch them. Even just a dagger, as you mentioned, would be pretty handy in these situations. Also BUMP, and kudos to the OP.

I'd just like to remind people that this thread is NOT for discussion, every post is to be report. This is simply to maximise the the thread's lifetime before it reaches the post cap.

Other than that, and while I'm at it, really well done guys! The list is quite extensive now (which is good and bad at the same time haha), I'm positive bethesda will find this useful! Keep it up :D

Quest Name:
Forbidden Legend

Type
Side Quest

Description
The first "dragon claw door" refuses to open in Reachwater rock
Using the Emerald Claw with right combination does not work at all

How To Replicate
I think what may have nbroken the quest is that I tried to go to Saarthal before joining the Mage Academy and then somehow the rest of the quest got messed up.

Stats
35 Hours
LVL 21

Other
The first time I entered Reachwater rock the door refused to activate at all, the circular parts refused to rotate.

*Quest: Helping Hand
*Type: Thane of Riften
*Description: NPC required to start quest (Wujeeta) is gone, and doesn't appear anywhere in Riften
How To Replicate: Wish I knew.
Stats: Level 36, about 40 hours played.
Other: I could probably get a save hacker to spawn her in front of me, but that's not the point.

*Quest: Darkness Returns

*Type: Thieves Guild

*Description: after Nocturnal descends back into the ground, quest marker remains in the ground and next step is never triggered. First time I arrived, Karliah was present during & after speech, but could never speak to her. Following attempts to reload an earlier save and try again, or to return to this mission at a later time found Karliah not appearing at all, or else disappearing immediately after entering the room. But regardless of her status, the marker remains in the ground and the next step is not triggered.

*How To Replicate: this happens for me every single time I try the quest (10 or so times)... I've tried skipping through Gallus's initial conversation vs listening completely to everything he has to say... running through the dungeon as quickly as possible vs clearing the entire thing out... inspecting Anders' remains vs letting them be... etc etc

*Stats: first time I tried this I'm not certain of my level, but it was very high (certainly past 40, maybe past 50)... I'm running copy from the disk, not installed to xbox hard drive
Other: I know others have had similar problems, as evidenced by the "Bugs" entry here: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Darkness_Returns

*Quest: Family Heirloom

*Type: Companions radiant quest

*Description: It's a small radiant quest given by Skjor, right after the "Proving Honor" quest. I'm supposed to retrieve a glass warhammer that has been stolen from a family in Whiterun. It's supposed to be located at a place called Bleakwind Basin. When I get there I find the chest with the quest marker on top of it and open the chest. The hammer is there so I take it. However the marker won't disappear from the chest and nothing happens in the quest log. When I return to Jorrvaskr to speak with the members of The Companions, all they say is that I need to finish the quest I'm currently doing before I can get a new one. This makes me unable to progress with their main quest line, like joining the circle for example. The warhammer is also sellable/dropable which would is not the case with other quest items.

*How To Replicate: The only thing I can think of that may have caused this bug is that I had cleared the camp quite some time before I got this quest. There were just a couple of giants and mammoths there. I also picked the lock of the chest and looted it, can't remember what was in it though.

*Stats: Don't know exactly, but somwhere around 60-70 hours of play and my level was around 30-35.

*Other: I've found one other case with the exact same problem as me, some guy who wrote on a forum but didn't get any real answers. Since it's a radiant quest the locations and items to retrieve can vary. Searching the internet though, there seems to be problems with other versions of this quest aswell. I've installed the game to the harddrive if that's useful at all.

Quest: Boethiah's Calling
Type: Daedric
Description: Cannot get any follower to activate the pillar, and anytime after the attempt, all followers will not activate, wait over, or attack when directed. I've used mercenaries, housecarls, Companions, and Brotherhood initiates to attempt. I've slaughtered every Cultist on the mountain on a prior save, activated the quest with a follower in tow as well as solo, no dice.
I've created 2 seperate characters and this glitch has occurred on both. First character, I recieved the quest after being attacked by a random Boethiah Cultist, the second I rediscovered the location by walking from Windhelm.
I am currently playing from a prior save and avoiding the quest altogether until there is some sort of patch.

Quest: Repairing the White Phial
Type: Markarth Alchemist
Description: Briar hearts are glitched in my inventory and am unable to complete the quest. I had briar hearts in my inventory when I recieved the quest to fix the Phial, but as soon as it begins, it locks my briar hearts as "Quest Items", while still giving me a quest marker to retrieve one from a nearby Forsworn Briarheart. After killing the Forsworn and retrieving his heart, the quest is still marking his corpse as the active quest. I've already fetched the ice and powdered mammoth tusk, and the heart is the only thing left to turn in. I can 'eat' the hearts out of my inventory, up to the last 2, but then I get the "Quest item" line, and still cannot turn in the heart.

(This quest has already been mentioned but the bug I and many others have encountered is a different one)

*Quest: Blood On The Ice
*Type: Side Quest (Windhelm)
*Description: To complete this quest you're supposed to kill a certain murderer named (spoilers ahead) Calixto. However the bug makes him unkillable. He'll drop to his knees when his health reaches zero and then get back up. You can't talk to him either. If you persist and try and kill him again you'll incur an assault bounty. The quest arrow will continually point to him, demanding the death you cannot deliver. What's more, Calixto is holed up in the purchasable house "Hjerim", which he will not leave until the quest is completed. This means if you are able to buy it later, you'll have a homicidal npc attacking you every time you enter.

How To Replicate: I don't know what caused it exactly. From what I've read of others experiences it may have something to do with how the quest was triggered. I triggered the quest by picking the lock into Hjerim and rifling through the journals and searching for clues. Supposedly if you trigger the quest by talking to some guards at a murder scene outside the Hall of the Dead, this bug won't occur. After leaving Hjerim I was alerted to follow up on the clues I had discovered. I did this by showing the Strange Amulet I had found to Calixto, who purchased it from me. Then I talked to Viola Giordano, who suggested based on my evidence that the Jarl's wizard (Wuunferth) must be the murderer. After the wizard is in jail for a bit. The quest starts back up again when another murder occurs. I go talk to the wizard, who predicts the next one will happen in the Stone Quarter around midnight. As soon as I'm done talking to him I receive the prompt: "Go patrol the stone quarter". Immediately after this I receive a second prompt saying I've completed my patrol, and to "Cath the Murderer". I follow the quest arrow to Hjerim, and that's where Calixto has been ever since. He'll attack me every time I enter the house but he can't die.

Stats: Nord, around level 40. Maybe 80 hours in.
Other: Lots of people seem to be having this same issue. Calixto can't die, nor will he leave the house.

*Quest: The Dainty Sload

*Type: Thieves Guild

*Description: After completing the other three special requests for Delvin in the Thieves Guild, I finish five jobs in Solitude and he assigns me this quest. The first objective i receive is to find Erikur. My map marker says he in the bay near Solitude (Blue Palace side). When I start heading that way, my local map marker points to him being inside of Solitude. He's basically outside of Solitude while being inside at the same time. There's no way to advance the quest since you cant find him!

*How to Replicate: I don't think there is a sure way to replicate, while i was digging for a solution some folks seem to think it stems from doing the Diplomatic Immunity quest before this quest.

*Stats: Khajiit, Level 38, 75 hours in

*Other: I found a video of a guy figuring out a way around this glitch, essentially falling through the graphics http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21t6d-5fqY0 but I also found an easier way http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRu93oTXJ-A. Life savers for meanwhile!

*Quest: Wait for Brelyna's spell to wear off.

*Type: Miscellaneous Quest.

*Description: After agreeing to help Brelyna test out some spells on me, she says that I look a little green and that the spell will wear off within a few hours. I've went and completed several quests since then and the spell has yet to wear off. So I can't proceed with the quest.

*Quest: Pieces of The Past
*Type: Daedric
*Description: Silus Vesuis attacked me out of no where in Dawnstar, ended the quest.
How To Replicate: A patch to respawn him possibly and make him unkillable until the proper time.
Stats: Level 20ish 32 hours played
Other: So I was walking around Dawnstar for the first time and this random guy attacked me, I thought it was just an assassin because I've never stolen anything from there or broken any laws and I've had that happen before so I didn't think anything of it. Now I want to start getting Daedric artifacts only to learn that the person who attacked me in Dawnstar was the beginning of the quest, I do no longer have a save before that point and am not able to get the achievement to collect 15 Daedric artifacts, which bothers me because I had an issue with getting a few achievements in Oblivion also, and I'm a person who loves achievements. If there was a possibility to have something included in a patch to have the game notice if he is dead or not, and if the quest is finished or not and have him respawn if needed and prevent him from dying before you have the option in the quest. because I love Elder Scrolls Games and like to do everything for every game. And I would like to not start a new character.

Quest: The Forsworn conspiracy

Type: Side Quest

Description: Apon leaving the warrens and winning the brawl the game will freeze completely when saying the name of the person behind it.

How To Replicate: No Idea what brought it about, reloading recent saves and previous ones always bring about the same thing. I know one other person with the issue but it may be linked with brawls in general.

Stats: level 30 25 hours in (roughly restarted ages ago and now avoid markarth entirely)

Other: I had entered the city and saved the girl much earlier into the save but only continued with the quest after doing other quests that lead to buying a house in markarth, maybe thats related having such a gap between the start of the quest and then continuing.
