Quest: boethiahs calling

*Description: Priestess died when a dragon appeared. Now I can't seem to get any further in the quest. The quest won't even show up on the map.

**UPDATE**

Went to a wiki and found an alternate way to complete the quest.

Can't belive my eyes, no one has brought this up?! Guess I have to then.

Quest: Reunification of Skyrim

Type: Main Quest, Imperial Legion (Civil War)

Description: After events taking place in Whiterun you're handed a new quest from General Tallius (think that's correct) where you're ordered
to go to the Imperial Pale Camp and talk to Legate Rikke. When you arrive Rikke does NOT have the correct dialogue option available. There
are supposed to be three things to choose when talking to her, one of them being something along the lines of "What are my orders?". This
choice is not there when you talk to Rikke and I've tried everything to make it pop up.

How To Replicate: As far as I know all you have to do is start this questline until you get "Reunification of Skyrim", then try talking to Legate
Rikke which as I mentioned is impossible.

Stats: I've been playing the game roughly 70 hours, Skyrim had been running for about 1? hour when I reached the problem. I'm level 43 at
the time being (when trying to do the quest) and I have not noticed any prolonged loading times or other issues.

Other: My guess is the patch (1.2) being the culprit behind all this but I cannot be sure. I've tried everything from sleeping, resting, having the
guards at the camp fight a giant by luring him in, cleared my console's cache, reinstalled the game, tried to re-load the save, went thought the
entire Whiterun mission again, talked to Legate Rikke from different sides, tried picking the other dialogue options and I've also pretty much
bashed her to death with my mace to see if that would make it work.

Note that not a single thing of the stuff I mentioned worked to fix this issue. Any help with this bug will be greatly apprechiated!

*Description: Can't start purity of revenge quest
How To Replicate: There are multiple issues here. I have gotten the helm of Winterfell but I have already cleared out the next of Silver Hand at the location we are supposed to be going. So Purity of Revenge doesn't start. Does it ever reset on it's own? The only thing online is for PC. Is my companions questline done?

Quest: Alduin's Wall
Type: Main Quest
Description:
Having already explored the entrance to Skyhaven Temple before the main quest line required me to be there, the puzzles (specifically the three pillars and drawbridge puzzle) were already completed when the two NPCs arrive to enter the temple and proceed to Alduin's Wall. However upon opening the gate to the temple, the two NPCs sprint back to the pillar puzzle and wait for it to be completed (which it now can not be). It appears that the triggers for the NPCs are not set if you explore the area beforehand.

How To Replicate: By exploring the entrance to Skyhaven Temple (specifically, completing the entrance puzzles) before beginning the quest 'Alduin's Wall'

Stats: Level 37, Argonian, 65 hours playtime. However it appears this is a NPC trigger specific bug.

Other:

Please take notice Bethesda - this is a game-breaking glitch and being on the XBOX there is no command-line fix. I really don't want to loose 65 hours of playtime.

*Quest: Trouble in Skyrim

*Type: Companions

*Description:
I was told to "kill the leader of Redoran's Retreat" I went there, killed him, it told me to go back to farkas, but when i fast traveled to whiterun and started walking to the companions place, the quest marker disappeared, i looked at my quest list and it had moved the quest to finished before i actually finished it, also i wasn't able to talk to farkas for the next quest (no option). after reloading and trying again several times i eventually gave up and just continued playing, ignoring the companion's questline (but the quest finished itself a little while later anyway even though i didn't clear the place this time) hoping for a patch.

How To Replicate:
my experience, and things i've read from other people experiencing the same problem, seem to indicate that it might have something to do with the fact that i cleared the place prior to getting the quest, just while i was out exploring, and, though the enemies had respawned by then, something glitched in the system because of it

Stats:(guesses as this happened a while ago)
how long had i played: about a week perhaps
level: around 57
that's all i can remember

Quest: Talk to the companions leaders for work.
Type: Misc
Description: Farkas is bugged and has no option to give you work. You can get work from the others companions, but this prevents the player from triggering Farkus's quest "Purity"
How to replicte: Complete companions questline, do other quests and come back much later, activate the quest in your misc section and speak to Farkas.

*Quest: Hard Answers

*Type: Thieves Guild Quest

*Description: This quest re-triggered when I re-entered the Dwemer Museum at level 51 even though I had already completed the quest in my early 40s. I stepped through the quest and retrieved the chalk rubbing triggering the next step of the quest. The assistant was still in the entryway just below the engraving, sitting down, but there were no guards present to search for me. I returned to Winterhold and talked to Enthir in the basemant of the tavern. Both Karliah (in her full Nightingale outfit) and Enthir were waiting as before. I stepped through the dialog again and let Enthir finish talking. I spoke to Enthir as prompted and then Karliah who again game me the Nightingale Blade.

I didn't have my original Nightingale blade on me as I had stowed it away but confirmed that it was still in storage at one of my houses. I now have two of these blades. The quest ended there and didn't proceed through the remainder of the main quest line.

How To Replicate: No clue how to replicate this. I can't recall if the quest re-triggered right as I entered the Museum or if it was when I unlocked the left-room in the Museum where the Barenziah stone is located. I picked up the Berenziah stone and was accosted by the guard since it was considered a stolen item. It ~may~ have triggered at this point. Either way, I went back a third time to the Museum and the quest did not trigger again.

Stats:Lvl 51 Kajhiit w/housecarl Jordis tagging along

*Quest: Battle for Solitude
*Type: Civil War

*Description:

I have a game breaking glitch on The Battle for Solitude quest. When I get the quest I go to Ulfric outside Solitude and listen to his speech. We then enter the city and kill a few soldiers. I enter Castle Dour and listen to the argument between Ulfric and Legate Rikke. Rikke and General Tullius attacks me but Ulfric and his second in command do not join in the fight. I damage Tullius until he is on the floor in defeated mode but I can not talk to him.

Rikke can not be killed, when I drain all her health she just gets back up again after awhile and is not hostile. When I talk to her she has dialogue options as if the fight had never happened. When I talk to Ulfric he has dialogue options as if he was still on his throne back in Windhelm. Because I can not finnish the quest I am stuck in Castle Dour forever without the key.

QUEST: THE CURE FOR MADNESS

TYPE: Dark Brotherhood

DESCRIPTION: Behold Shadowmere. Or not. I just completed BREACHING SECURITY. I waited in whiterun till the victim got there in the pub and killed him in his sleep while my companion waited at the original dark brotherhood sanctuary. Go to report to Gabriella and get quest cure for madness. Talk to blond lady, search ciceros room and take all his journals in order 1,2,3 ect. Talk to Astrid again and exit sanctuary. Follow arrow to tar pit. I hear Shadowmere stoping and snorting, tar bubbling. Wait, wait, wait for it. Nothing. Walk into arrow in tar pit nothing happens, no evil hourse for me.

HOW TO REPLICATE: unknown. First time I tried I had left my companion at the sanctuary while I did all the other darkbrotherhood quests. Also I took the books out of order and skipped (tapping A every time Astrid spoke) dialogs.
I noticed when I came out to find Shadowmere Aranea (azura follower) had left on her own back to the azura shrine.
Second time I tried I reloaded to before I had completed BREACHING SECURITY and sent follower away. Completed that quest getting Bonus in pub same as before, talked to Astrid, listening to all dialog, got books in order, talk to Astrid, listening to all dialog, no Shadowmere, same bubbles and sounds.
Third attempt. Load back 2 quests to solitude save,BOUND UNTIL DEATH, shoot the lady without being detected, Argonian attacks me when he sees me (not brotherhood one, ja ree or something), guards don't care about me. Go to sanctuary tell follower to go home, get bono u's and next quest BREACHING SECURITY, fast travel to Katlas farm, buy a horse to change 2 c factors, ride to dragon reach. Haikus talks to hai father who is invisible this time. Fast Travel to Riften. Kill giaus in town. Go to sanctuary get bonus the hourse I bought is outside I pick up only quest boomafter talking to Astrid. Astrid as always says "look we have to deal with this situation" then camera goes to her and she says it again finishing the sentience. And no Shadowmere yet again. So disappointed.
STATS: level 53, 70 hours, 309 saves thru 3 characters 2 of which were deleted when I started over.

OTHER: svcks to not have a sweet evil horse. Let's get on the ball developers!
Shadowmere showed up later on. Droped by after completing the quest line and surprise surprise. Shadowmere rose from the tar pit then.

*Type: Mages radiant
*Description: was told to find the staff for enthir so i could get the amulet, i had already done another quest earlier to the lair and found the staff but now it wont give me the option to give him the staff i also have found another one on my travels and i cant get either out of my inventory to put it on a weapon rack in my house which was a suggested fix
How To Replicate: Finding the staff before quest was given
Stats: level 12
Other:

You don't "place" the staff on just any rack. In the house you buy in Whiterun upstairs bedroom is a shield and two swords above the bed...go to it and remove one of the swords, then equip the staff and look at where you removed the sword and it will ask you to activate the rack to place the currently equiped weapon into the rack. Once you do that then the quest system picks it up and marks it...then you just take it to Enthir. It's still a bug, but at least it has a workaround.

Quest: The Pursuit

Type: Thieves Guild

Description: Its pretty simple - after meeting Karliah in the basemant at the Frozen Hearth, she talks about Mercer Frey being a bad guy etc...and ends by saying "meet me in the Ragged Flagon". Well i left, did like 10 other side quests and whatnot, then decided it was time to go back and meet her, but "The Pursuit" objective marker still pointed at Winterhold/Frozen Hearth. So i went back there and sure enough, shes stuck (funny that shes frozen in the frozen hearth). She wont go to the Ragged Flagon. I went to the Ragged Flagon, and all of the Thieves Guild people are just standing around in a fighting stance, and say things like "I cant believe you brought that b@#(h here" or "We need to figure out whats going on" etc. Yea, we do need to figure out whats going on. I really really really dont want to load a save from like a week ago. Please help. I know other people have posted about this online, but I didnt see any posts on here about this bug.....

Stats: LV 42

Other: I found this on yahoo, which looks promising (if Brad L really is a programmer or whatever at Bethesda - make it happn capn!) :)

Side Quest:

*College of Winterhold

*Travel to North Shriekwind Bastion and find a copy of "The Old Ways" for Urag

*I had already cleared this dungeon for a Companion quest to find the last totem of Hircine. I had already cleared out the chests and picked up the book. It was in my inventory when Urag directed me to do the quest, but it would not let me give it to him. It had a marker on the dungeon and directed me there. So I went back and sure enough the chest the marker was on, was empty (as the book was already in my inventory). I traveled back to the College of Winterhold and it still would not let me give him the book. The marker never removed itself from the empty chest. Now it's stuck in my inventory and I can't get rid of it or finish the quest.

*I'm at level 34, plenty of hours poured into the game (dont know exactly)

*Tried loading and reloading numerous times. No fix.

*Quest: Toying with the Dead
*Type: Misc Quest
*Description: Vekel the Man initiates a miscellaneous quest to retrieve the journals of Arondil from Yngvild once the player joins the Thieves Guild.
How To Replicate: Go through the quest and return, seem it will complete but will not reward nor remove journals.
Stats: Level 42, 105 Hrs
Other: Completes like normal but neither give an award for completing nor removes journal. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Toying_With_The_Dead also shows that there is indeed a bug (though it only refers to the PC version) that is on the 360 version as well.

Quest: Assist the people of Haafingar
Type: Misc
Description: Upon completion of this quest, you are made a Thane and given a housecarl (if you have bought a house in Solitude) but the quest it is not removed from the miscellaneous quest log.
Stats: Leve 46, 120 hours
Other: Tried a previous save, before initiating the quest and buying a house in Solitude in various combinations, but always resulted in the quest not being removed from the miscellaneous quest log upon completion.

Quest: Alteration Ritual Spell

Type: College of Winterhold

Description: One of your objectives is to retrieve Kahvozein's Fang and I had to go to High Gates Ruins to recover it. I had already cleared this ruin before and stumbled upon the dagger. I've heard about quest bugs when you pick up a quest item before triggering the quest so I left it there and hoped to come back and pick it up later. The dungeon gates for the word wall and loot that lies behind Vokun's tomb are now locked and cannot be opened. Once I entered Vokun's tomb his coffin flew open like he was still alive but he was infact killed a while back. This is where the bug lies: Kahvozein's Fang lies within a chest in the word wall/loot area that is now sealed off with no entry via the 2 doors and also the backdoor entry is locked as well. I now cannot complete the Alteration Ritual Spell quest and it is now broken for me.

How To Replicate: Have Kahvozein's Dagger spawn within High Gates Ruins final loot area/word wall but don't pick it up immediately, Clear the dungeon and leave enough time to pass so that all enemies respawn and gates/doors close themselves. When entering Vokun's tomb again to pick it up, the game will assume that he is still alive or respawned and will open Vokun's tomb trying to trigger the boss fight again while Vokun has already been killed a long time ago. The gates leading to the loot/word wall area will still be locked with no way to open them including the shortcut near the entrance the the Ruin.

Stats: Attemped at level 50, but cleared the ruins when I was in my high 30's. The dungeon obviously had enough time to respawn all enemies within.

Other: Warning - This might also affect a book fetching quest from Urag gro-Shub of the College of Winterhold who asks you to retrieve "Hanging Gardens" that can possibly appear in the same area beyond the locked gates in Vokun's Tomb.

how to replicate: dont get the stone during DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY quest
stats: level 24 nord, 150 hours in


I missed out on this stone and did what this guy did for a quick fix.

Quest: Companions: Trouble in Skyrim

Type: Companions

Description: On completion of the quest (Ridding Redoran's Retreat of bandits) I 'Return to Farkas' as requested and he fails to give me a reward, instead just starting the next quest (Hired Muscle). The 'Trouble in Skyrim' quest is then moved to the completed list with the task 'Return to Farkas' unchecked. On a previous save file Farkas was impossible to find and was vacant from the rader.

How to replicate: Ask Farkas for work after returning the shield to the female member.

Stats: lvl16 Nord, 24hrs in.

Quest: A Night to Remember

Type: Misc.

Description: I offer to clean up the mess and can only find two wines and two giants toes... (Apparently there is a note someplace too but it wasn't there for me). I had to bribe my way out of the quest which is fine, however the wines and the toes are now perma-stuck in my inventory.

How to replicate: Partially collect the trash items and then bribe your way out of the quest.

Stats: lvl12 Nord, 18hrs in.

Quest: The Jagged Crown

Type: Civil War

Description: Entered Korvanjund, and acquired the ebony claw. I approached the ebony claw door, and attempted to solve the puzzle door. However, none of the "wheels" one the door move for me, they are locked on the dragon symbol. I can place the ebony claw into the slot, but I cannot interact with the door any further.

How To Replicate: I have completed all quest lines, with the exception of the companions and the civil war. I have acquired all the words of power that I believe I can from going back up to visit the Grey-beards... I have all the dragon priest masks, I still need to actually "place" them at the shrine to acquire the final mask.

Stats: Level 64, high elf, 180 hours in.

Other: I have tried saves from a few hours back in game play, and still no luck in accessing the door...

*Quest: Jarl of Falkreath: Becoming Thane

*Type: Radiant and or Misc Quest

*Description: The Jarl of Falkreath will not offer me his fetch quest, or his subsequent bandit quest, only his two dialogue choices show up

How To Replicate:No idea, try speaking to him before the main quest and without helping anyone

Stats: LvL 50 Main quest not completed, DB, Companions, Civil War completed, MQ, TG and MG not completed and started partly, some other radiant quests are active

Other: The steward has given and I have completed her quests including killing random bandits and giants. I have also invested in every shop and done most if not all other quests available in the town including Daedric quests. Any help is greatly appreciated. :)
I was stuck on this one too, until I stumbled upon http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1305229-falkreath-jarl-wont-offer-quests/page__view__findpost__p__19637557 from the awesome charybdisjim. I cleared the "bring the Mirror" quest and the the jarl gave me the "fetch me some mead quest".

Quest: Purity Of Revenge
Type: Companions
Description: After Vilkas tells me we need to go and kill every single Silver Hand, he sits down and goes about his business. He will still give me jobs (minor things like killing escaped prisoners), but won't do the main quest and it doesn't appear in my inventory. When I talk to him, he only lets me ask about why he joined the Companions, what it means to be one, training in two-handed, or giving me a small job.
Two people stand outside with a few bodies and Torvar says "The Silver Hand. They finally decided to attack (yada yada)" and Aela says, "These two won't be a problem anymore". It is also tying up the second armor merchant (the father, usually inside Warmaidens) as he is an onlooker to the event.
Also, because of this, I can only get small jobs from Vilkas. Torvar and Aela simply repeat their sentences, and Farkas is "busy" sitting in the same position for the last 150 hours!
How To Replicate: From what I have been told on other forums, this happened because I completed an earlier quest that caused me to clear Driftshade Refuge, where Vilkas and I were supposed to go.
Stats: First encountered around level 30, about 80 hours in. Now at level 54 over 180 hours in and still having the same problems.
