README:

To report a broken quest, fill out the template provided below
When filing a report, be sure to use the meanings below the template to make the report as helpful to the devs as possible
Make sure to read the current list of reports so that you aren't posting about an existing report
If you want to discuss something with me or with another member please do not do so in this thread, use the PM system
If you want to, you can stick a link of this thread in your signature so that we can try and cut down the useless multiple thread system that is in use ATM, thank you

After seeing a thread claiming to help by putting all bug reports into a single thread I noticed how messy it was so I've decided to take the same idea on but organise it all a little better!

So basically I've got a template post for you guys to fill in and if done correctly and are the first one to report that bug then I will put the name of the broken quest in the list at the end of this post along with the post number. NOTE: Before posting check the list so that you aren't doing something pointlessly.

Template Meanings
- Quest Name
  - To find the name of a quest just look into your quest log by pressing start
  - If it is not there then check the misc objectives and report what it says there
- Type
  - Main Quest - By completing a main quest, you will progress through the storyline
  - Side Quest - A side quest will be in your main quest log but will not be given to you by a guild and will not progress you through the main storyline
  - Misc Obj - A misc obj will be recorded in the misc objectives tab in your quest log
  - Companions - Any quests given to you by a member of the Companions
  - Dark Brotherhood - Any quests given to you by a member of the Dark Brotherhood
  - Thieves Guild - Any quests given to you by a member of the Thieves Guild
  - College Of Winterhold - Any quests given to you by a member of the College Of Winterhold
  - Bard's College - Any quests given to you by a member of the Bard's College
  - Civil War - Any quests given to you by either the Imperial Legion or by the Stormcloaks (Sometimes known as the Liberation Of Skyrim)
  - Daedric - Any quests given to you by a Daedric Lord
  - If there are other guilds then please inform me via Private Message
- Description
  - Type here any information regarding the problem you are having with the corresponding quest
  - Try to be as thourogh as possible so that the devs have more to work with it
- How To Replicate
  - Type here what you belive to have caused the quest to break and/or how to make the quest break a second time
  - Once again try to be as thourogh as possible
- Stats
  - How long you had played when the break occured
  - What level you were
  - Any relevant statistics or skills to do with the break
  - Save file size
  - Loading times
  - I could go on..
- Other
  - Type here any information that you think may be relevant to the quest breaking but you can't be sure

Starred items must be filled in but you can be extra helpful to the devs by filling in everything.

One last thing, I will be seriously annoyed if people start not using the template and posting stuff like "WTFF BETHESDA!?!?!" or start discussing problems with other members. Quest: Season Unending
Type: Main Questline
Description: One of the objectives with this quest is to speak to Ulfric Stormcloak and convince him to attend the peace meeting with the empire at High Hrothgar. I've been able to speak to the General Tullius and have persuaded him to go but am unable to speak with Ulfric. If I try to interact with him, all he says is something like 'Didn't Galmar have work for you?' but no menu is shown (Like the guards) Before I started this quest, I started the quest 'Joining The Stormcloaks' but never bothered finishing it so I guess that is why.

So I decided maybe it will be fixed if I finished Galmar's quest. I killed an Ice Wraith and returned to Galmar to find him and Ulfric discussing a plan. After this I attempted to speak with Galmar but all that happened was he spoke (No menu again) 'I can't believe you convinced Ulfric to meet with the Empire. Worse than a waste of time if you ask me' Although I actually haven't convinced Ulfric as the Greybeards tell me I still need to gather everyone. When I now go to speak to Ulfric he tells me (No menu again) 'Speak with Galmar. You'll be going on a little errand with him.'
How To Replicate:

Begin Quest 'Joining The Stormcloaks' but do not finish.
Begin Quest 'Season Unending'
Try to speak to Ulfric

Stats: Was hour 50 something at lvl 28 or something but I've seen reports from lots of other people so this doesn't seem to matter.
Other: I was able to bring a chat menu up with Ulfric once. He told me to see Galmar about signing up and then I had two options to choose:

Yes Sir - I didn't choose this
That isn't why I'm here - When I selected this he asked why I was there and then the only option I was given was '...' which ended the conversation.

I had an idea to maybe join the legion and hopefully that would rule out the Stormcloak stuff but it turns out I can't talk to Legate Rikke either. All she says is 'Talking peace with Ulfric? You must be an optimist' (No menu)

Please Bethesda if your reading this, all my bugged quests below are of a similar nature, that I have encountered and kill creatures/people before finding the quest and now the quest arrows point at corpses and I cannot proceed, definitely an issue that needs to be addressed.

*Quest: Animal Extermination
*Type: Companion Side Quest
*Description: Need to clear out Greenspring Hollow and kill the Sabre Cat, but have already killed the sabre cat in my travels before this quest, the quest arrow now points directly to the corpse and I cannot continue, I have tried raising it as a zombie and killing it again and the quest marker now points at a pile of ash.
How To Replicate: Basically, enemies that are around for quests and normal world interaction need a re-spawn cycle to avoid this happening, or the game should recognize that the enemy is already dead.
*Other Info: this quest is seriously impeding my companion quest lines.
Stats: Level 44, 76hours approx

*Quest: Kill the Hagraven Petra
*Type: Misc Quest
*Description: I have to kill the Hagraven Petra, I have killed her, but the kill hasn't registered for some reason, again the arrow points at the corpse, I believe it was because I didn't accept the quest until after I had already killed her.
How To Replicate: Basically, enemies that are around for quests and normal world interaction need a re-spawn cycle to avoid this happening, or the game should recognize that the enemy is already dead.

*Quest: Disrupt Skooma Operation
*Type: Misc Quest
*Description: As the title says I have to disrupt the operation, however I have already cleared the cave in question during my travels, the enemies do not respawn and I cannot disrupt the operation (because everyone is dead) the only 2 enemies that respawn are the door guard and one mercenary, these I've killed several times, in addition the quest arrow has vanished, I cannot hand it in or even find the cave for this quest anymore as it doesn't show me where to go.
How To Replicate: Basically, enemies that are around for quests and normal world interaction need a re-spawn cycle to avoid this happening, or the game should recognize that the enemy is already dead.

*Quest: Find the source of the murders in Frostflow lighthouse
*Type: Misc Quest
*Description: When I entered the lighthouse the first door I saw was a master key locked door on my right, I immediately picked the lock and proceeded to explore, I cleared the caves and killed the giant Charus (sp?) went back up the cave to the lighthouse and then the quest activated once I went further in, and to my surprise I follow the quest marker and it once again points to a corpse, which I cannot do sod all about =/
How To Replicate: Basically, enemies that are around for quests and normal world interaction need a re-spawn cycle to avoid this happening, or the game should recognize that the enemy is already dead.

Those are my only bugged quests so far, but as you can see, definitely all bugged the same way, please resolve this in the patch this week!

Quest: Steal the Dragon's Breath Mead for Olda
Type: Misc Obj
Description: Dragon's Breath Mead is Missing from the crate.
How To Replicate: I went in spells ablazing, throwing Fireballs left right and center. I think I hit the crate before I picked up the Mead. I can't find it now. The quest arrow points to the crate, but it's not there. I assume it is behind the crate or inside the cliff.
Stats: Level 51, Forever and ever

Quest: Find a copy of War of the First Council
Type: Companion Side Quest
Description: Picked up the book in previous quest. Book is stuck in Inventory. Quest arrow points to empty crate
How To Replicate: Pick up the book before you are asked to

Quest: Find the source of the murders in Frostflow lighthouse
Type: Misc Quest
Description: I was able to get this quest removed from my list but I've got the Father's head in my inventory. His wife's? dairy said he wanted to be cremated in the lighthouse fireplace if he ever died so he could be there forever. But you can't put it there? Maybe I'm missing something here.
How To Replicate: Pick up his head.

Quest: Steal the Dragon's Breath Mead for Olda
Type: Misc Obj
Description: Dragon's Breath Mead is Missing from the crate.
How To Replicate: I went in spells ablazing, throwing Fireballs left right and center. I think I hit the crate before I picked up the Mead. I can't find it now. The quest arrow points to the crate, but it's not there. I assume it is behind the crate or inside the cliff.
Stats: Level 51, Forever and ever

Quest: Find a copy of War of the First Council
Type: Companion Side Quest
Description: Picked up the book in previous quest. Book is stuck in Inventory. Quest arrow points to empty crate
How To Replicate: Pick up the book before you are asked to

Quest: Find the source of the murders in Frostflow lighthouse
Type: Misc Quest
Description: I was able to get this quest removed from my list but I've got the Father's head in my inventory. His wife's? dairy said he wanted to be cremated in the lighthouse fireplace if he ever died so he could be there forever. But you can't put it there? Maybe I'm missing something here.
How To Replicate: Pick up his head.

Climb the ladder in the second floor, then outside, the ladder to the lighthouse's main fire, It's there where you need to burn the skull

*Type: Companion's Main Quest
*Description: After talking to Vilkas about how we have to destroy the Silver Hand and retrieve the fragments he just goes about his daily routine and refuses to talk about it again. Also the quest does not show up in the journal
How To Replicate: No idea
Stats: Level 11 13 hours roughly

Quest: A Cornered Rat
Type: Main Quest
Description: After completing "Diplomatic Immunity" Delphine does not give me the next quest "A Cornered Rat".
How To Replicate: Being a member of (not personally confirmed) or the leader of (personally confirmed) the Thieves Guild.
Stats: In the 30's when this happened.
Other: Delphine's dialogue changes if you are a member of the Thieve's Guild when she is describing your next quest. This may have something to do with it.

Quest: Hired Muscle (Commander Maro)
Type: Companions
Description: I am told to go rough up Commander Maro (who was randomly selected for the quest). The problem is that when I talk to him he only talks about how (Dark Brotherhood SPOILER) I destroyed the Dark Brotherhood. He is an essential character so I can't kill him to fail the quest. I have heard that you can get this quest if he is killed during the Dark Brotherhood storyline, in which case the questline breaks also.
How To Replicate: Do the "Destroy the Dark Brotherhood" quest and then try to get Commander Maro for the Companions quest "Hired Muscle". The list of randomly generated quests is probably huge so this would be hard to replicate.
Stats: In the 30's when this happened.
Other: Radiant Story quest

Quest:Under New Management
Type:Thieves Guild
Description:Quest can't be finished because at some point in the past I sold my Thieves Guild armor and so can't take it to be upgraded by Tonilia. This wouldn't be a problem if she would just let me pick up the Guildmaster's armor but she will only let me upgrade a piece.
How To Replicate:This is happening because I sold my Thieve's Guild armor some twenty levels ago and as such have no way of recovering it in order to get one of the pieces upgraded.
Stats:Level 44 around 55 hours played

Quest: No one Escapes Cidhna Mine

Type: Side Quest

Description:Escaped the Mine with Madanach who has "taken credit for all my past crime", the quest is shown as completed in my log but the "Escape Cidhna Mine" objective is showing as incomplete. As a result all Marketh guards try to arrest me on site as if the quest was still active. I am unable to pay off my bounty and when I agree to go to jail the guard states "No one escapes cidhna mine" but nothing else happens. I dont get sent to jail but am stuck in an infinite loop with the guard.

How To Replicate: After escaping Cidhna Mine with Madanach et al. Not all the guards were killed and left the city?

Stats: Was around lvl 20 at the time, am now level 38. quest completed around 20 hours in or so.

First of all, thank you for making a more organized and concise list. I implore you to keep up with it though!

Listed below are the bugged quests that I've discovered so far. If I find more, I'll make a new post.

Quest: Talk to Mulush about Omluag
Type: Miscellaneous
Description: I started this quest after I did "No one Escapes Cidhna Mine", and during the battle in the city (where the Forsworn are clearing the way out of Markarth), Mulush gro-Shugurz the Smelter Overseer was killed. Turned into an Ash Pile. The problem is, the quest was still triggered, and didn't auto-fail on acceptance. It remains in your journal, but there are no quest markers on the map, and obviously you cannot talk to Mulush since he is dead.

Quest: Get Derkeethus out of the Cave
Type: Miscellaneous
Description: This quest begins in Darkwater Pass. Originally, I went through this cave (more like a tunnel) at the TOP of the waterfall down to the bottom instead of the other way around. The map image for Darkwater Pass is on the bottom entrance. I found Derkeethus and accepted the quest, but proceeded downwards through the Pass and out the lower entrance. Derkeethus was following me the whole time until I left the cave, then he disappeared and I was not able to complete the quest.
I went back inside and he was back at his spawn, the little cage in the floor. I tried to get him to follow me but he would walk really slow, and when I FINALLY got him to either door of the cave the same thing would happen - he wouldn't exit with me and he'd return to the cage. I even tried attacking him and letting him chase me through the cave - same result. He also can't die so you can't intentionally fail the quest by killing him either.

Quest: Taking Care of Business
Type: Thieves Guild
Description: The instructions are to "Locate Brynjolf at the Ragged Flagon", but after he did his distraction for the shopkeepers in the market in Riften (for the quest "A Chance Arrangement") he is permanently stuck in that position and still doing his distraction. This means he doesn't go to the Ragged Flagon and you cannot continue the Thieves Guild questline. As well, this also disables all of the Riften Market Shopkeepers - you can't access their shops but you can still talk to them.
Additionally, you cannot complete the Miscellaneous Quest "Bring the Unusual Gem to an Appraiser" because the appraiser requires you to finish Brynjolf's quests. Again, you can't complete Brynjolf's quests because he's stuck distracting people in the market forever.

Quest: Waking Nightmare

Type: Side Quest (Dawnstar)

Description: When following Erandur into Nightcaller Temple, he's supposed to lead you through a blocked passage by casting a spell on the blockade. Instead, upon entering the temple, Erandur is gone (presumably already beyond the blockade), while you are stuck with no way to progress forward.

How To Replicate: Started the quest, and simply enter the temple with Erandur. (It's the first step in the quest)

Stats: I was level 36, and about 30 hours in when it happened, but it seems like a ton of people are having the same issue.

Other: This quest as a whole seems pretty bugged, as there are a lot of different ways being reported that Erandur completely disappears, rendering the quest impossible to complete.

Main Quest: No one escapes Chihna Mine
Problem: Last Part: When trying to follow Madanach: At the end when you escape with Madanach, Madanach does not attack the Yarl and fight all of the guards. HE just stands there, so I have to kill all of the guards to just complete the quest and now I am wanted in The Reach which leads to further problems, because I cannot submit and go to jail (dont know why), so therefore I cannot talk to Raerek to accuse him of worshiping Talos.

Main Quest: Compelling Tribute: (Also effecting Liberation of Skyrim)
Problem: First Part: Since I am wanted in the Reach, and the guards will not take me to prison, I am attacked whenever I enter the Reach and cannot talk to Raerek and accuse him of worshiping Talos because he just tries to attack me. So I cannot conitinue the Liberation of Skyrim.

Main Quest: Promises To Keep
Problem: When return to Louis Letrush: I jumped off of Frost, and now he is gone forever and doesn't respawn at the stables, therefore I cannot complete the mission.

Main Quest: Forbidden Legend
Problem: Find the Gauldur Amulet in Folgunthur
I went into Folgunthur earlier in the game, killed the Drugur with the amulet and I lost it somehow. Now I do this mission and I cannot find it and it just has the white arrow where the amulet is supposed to be pointing at a stair with nothing else there.

Great game, but just a few to many bugs and glitches which is very understandable because of the outstanding caliber of this game. GREAT GAME, to many bugs and glitches that make it very frusturating.

Quest: A Cornered Rat
Type: Main
Description: Delphine did not give me the quest after I finished Diplomatic Immunity
How To Replicate: I'm almost positive that this happens of you talk to Brynjolf before finishing Diplomatic Immunity, which i did. I've finished the thieves guild quest line, and I can find Esbern but he won't let me in. None of the chat options for Delphine or anyone in the Thieves Guild activate it.
Stats: Probably around 16 when I tried. About 30 now....
Other: It's a main quest! I really want to do it!

Next:

Quest: Attend Your Wedding (?)
Type: Side
Description: Lydia, who died a really long time ago, shows up dead on the floor when i try to get married. Everyone leaves and I fail the quest.
How to Replicate: It might be because I was the one who killed her. I'm trying to marry Sylgja
Stats: About level 30.
Other: This makes me sad. I don't want to be forever alone!

Quest: Return Armen's Family Sword to Armen
Type: Miscellaneous Objective
Description: Completing the quest can result in a huge penalty to one-handed skill rather than the intended increase
How To Replicate: No idea.
Stats: I was around level 10 or 11 at the time.
Other: I just know that my stats were fine immediately prior to handing in the quest and were broken immediately after completing the quest. The quest rewards are supposed to be a one-point increase to block and to one-handed skills, but instead of increasing one-handed from 40 to 41 it halved it to 20. No negative effects were listed in the menus and I found no way of fixing it aside from loading a previous save.

I dont think any of them are part of the main storyline, most likely side quest (misc if they're in the misc tab in your quest log). If you could please redo the post with the correct quest type and using the template I could go ahead and stick them in the list, thanks!

Quest: Dampened Spirits
Type Thieves Guild
Description- When turning in one Thieves Guild quest and receiving Dampened Spirits, you are told to speak to Maven Black Briar. The quest disappears for no reason whatsoever from your quest log and you are not able to complete the Thieves Guild missions.
How to replicate If you do not rush to talk to Maven immediately after being told, and decide to do the quests in the order you see fit then this bug occurs.

That quest is already in the list anyway, besides its more the reason that the poster didn't use the report template so its messy. The whole point of this thread is to make it easy for the devs to find out info on broken quests

Quest: House of Horrors

Type: Side quest/Daedric quest

Description: When I finally talk get out of the cage that Molag Bal put me in; i try to leave the house but the house wont unlock, and i forgot to save before the quest so my character is stuck inside the abandoned house
at Markarth and the only option i have is to start a new game which i don't want to do, so it would be awesome if this was fixed.

How to Replicate: Well Vigilant Tyranus amkes me angry because I looked up online what is supposed to happen and hes supposed to move, which he dosent he just stands there so the
quest dosent progress, so I found out online he's supposed to die, so I kill him and the quest progresses and after the conversation with Molag Bal I go to the front door to continue the
quest and it dosent unlock like it is supposed to and my character is now stuck with no way out and i looked online and this happened to alot of people lol.

Stats: Im lvl 23 and i searched for an exit for about an hour then i looked for the "key" the door says it needs for another hour and since i couldnt find it I gave up and turned off my xbox.

Other: Please fix this because the only way i can continue playing the game is if i start a new character and I dont feel like doing that, because I like my guy lol I put some good amount of hours into him lol
(sorry I wrote so much, I just want this fixed)

Not sure if there's an official quest or not, but I'm stuck on becoming Thane of Riften.

The quest log says to check in with the Jarl, but there's no conversation options that will let me progress. She told me to purchase Sunnyside from her advisor and then check back with her. I bought and upgraded sunnyside in one go, went to take a look, but when I came back, speaking to the jarl would not advance me.

*Quest: Trinity Restored

*Type: Thieves Guild

*Description: On the Thieves Guild mission 'Trinity Restored' I have to "meet Karliah at the standing stone" however when I get to the stone she is not there and nothing happens. Brynjoif is not at the stone either but is infact still in the Ragged Flagon and has no dialogue options. The quest marking is on the stone so its definitely where I have to go. Due to this bug I can not continue which the Thieves Guild questline.

How To Replicate:

Stats: Level 40 , 100 Hours.

Other: It is not bugged for my level 36 character save. Main missions done between that save and the level 40 bugged one are "Diplomatic Immunity", "A Cornered Rat", Alduin's Wall". It may be to do with the main storyline quest "A Cornered Rat" if you complete it at the same time when being told to go to the the stone as it recalls Brynjoif to the Ragged Flagon.

*Quest: Conjuration Ritual Spell
*Type: Master Conjuration Spell Quest with unbound Dremora given by Phinis Gestor at College of WinterHold
*Description: I summoned the unbound Dremora on the Hall of Attainment roof, after talking to the Dremora I proceeded to kill him. However I could loot his corpse and could no longer resummon him. Thus breaking the quest. If I go and talk to Phinis Gestor I get the same lead into the quest but still can't resummon him. This also means I cannot learn any master level conjuration spells
How To Replicate: Some bug with him being able to respawn after killing him. I also looted him before attempting to resummon, not sure if that could have caused the issue
Stats: level 27 - 30 hours or so
Other: I'm currently on the quest The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller for the main story line, I have also finished the main quest for the college of Winterhold

*Description: Quest not starting. No blood. No guard. No body. Tried all recommendations, and no results.
How To Replicate: Unknown cause = unknown replication method.

Other: No methods that have been suggested stimulate the quest's activation. It should also be noted that the quest may possibly be bugged at a later stage if you killed an optional person in the Dark Brotherhood quest: Mourning Never Comes.
