Organizing mods

Post » Sun Oct 31, 2010 1:13 am

Okay once you go to data files there is a couple of folders Meshes and Textures is what you put most of the mod things in. And under those folders is a mass of files. I know you cant put those files in an addon folder. And I dont think you can seaperate mods in the meshes and textures folder either. I have about 6 or 7 mods and sometimes they glitch and I remove some and I dont want to delete the wrong thing. Does anyone know a way to organize mods?

You cannot move around things in your Data folder because plugins will not be able to find the moved files. You should use a mod utility to install your mods instead of doing it manually.

Edit: If you must go the manual route: http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/installmods/manual-installation. Read http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/intro as well, in order to learn more about file format and whatnot.

The safest way is to use BAIN to install mods. Then you have full control over every single file that makes up the mod.

I agree: http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/walkthroughs/baininstallguide

Edit: The main site pages are more uptodate. Keep that in mind, but that walkthrough will suffice for the BAIN part.

Edit: It is simpler to read the http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/installmods/baininstallation page, and then read http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1084204-bain-mod-installation-projects/.
