Original fallout 3 saves

Post » Sat Apr 02, 2011 4:48 am

Prob is I opened it BEFORE knowing about all of this. So I'm SOL.

You're not catching my drift. You won't get your money back, but atleast you'll be extending the time you need to find a good deal on the game. Mine is open too...

It's not just the Canadian collectors edition that's having issues, I baught the normal edition and still can't load my original saves to the GOTY.

Whilst I was out I happened upon a few shops with both Fallout 3 original and Fallout 3 GOTY Edition and every one of the original Fallout 3 copies had the US BLUS-30185 so if Canada even got the BLUS-30234 then it's not anywhere near me. So the problem is all the original releases were US coded. I'm not french darn it I just want my old save to work... :shakehead:

Im in uk same problem

I though I had that problem with the EU English version as well... But for me it turned out Gamestop gave me the wrong disc last year... So I had the NA English version of F3 and now the EU English version of GOTY... So it was not a software problem for me, but a retailer problem.

But like I've seen others post, it could be your users account that's not the same as well, which is has to be.

Hello folks.
Just bought a UK version of the GOTY game (BLES00737), while I played the original Fallout 3 on a US version (BLUS30185).
I just learnt through this forum that the saves are not compatible from a region to another. Before I ask for a refund, I would like to know if this compatibility issue will be addressed in a coming patch, or if I should just get a US version.
Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately, no one really knows. All that we've heard from Bethesda is something like "we know there's an issue and we're working on it." No specifics as to how or what they will do.

Personally, I don't think they will patch it. The saves should work if you get the corresponding GOTY for the US version of the game. Considering that you're in the UK, it seems even less unlikely they'll patch the game for the UK version, being as they think UK players should be playing the UK game.

The funny thing (let's look at it the good way) is that I'm not even in the UK, but in France... Bought the 2 games while travelling abroad !

My mistake. The region free PS3 games is nice, but it kind of makes it a mess for DLC and such considering those still seem to be region locked . . .

I agree alefin. This is when the whole region free concept shows its limits.

Not likely...now a week has passed I don't think we'll see a fix for our problem.

Hopefully someone smart out there will create a Windows app that'll let us convert our PS3 saves to our GOTY disc version.

Some comments, I tried fixing the save files through a hex editor... although PS3 recognized the save file correctly, when I tried to copy the save from my memory stick to PS3 it read the file as corrupt.

I only found the BLUS code in the PARAM.SFO file. Uncertain where else to change in the files.

Can someone look into this as well? I'm certain it's really not that hard to fix this compatibility problem.

It looks like the majority of the posters here have already brought the standard edition and GOTY. The fact is that gamesas already has our money so their primary object has been achieved. I believe gamesas have commited limited resources and time to fixing this issue as they can be better used else where. Hence their delay and little communication. Its unfortunately but that's the way big companies operate.

With that being said, I was also svckered into getting GOTY and its in the mail right now :P

Ugh... wonder how much $ we'll lose for doing that. Might not be worth it. I guess it's time for me to start that Female, chaotic, heavy weapons, explosive expert chick! I wonder how hard it is to finish the game with out using a single weapon, just my fists?

For your game saves from Fallout 3 to work with Fallout 3 GOTY, make sure your versions match up. If they don't match up (US disc to US disc, UK disc to UK disc, etc) you're going to run into compatibility issues.

English US
Fallout 3: BLUS-30185
Fallout 3 GOTY: BLUS-30451

French Canada
Fallout 3: BLUS-30234
Fallout 3 GOTY BLUS-30455

English UK
Fallout 3: BLES-00333
Fallout 3 GOTY: BLES-00737

French
Fallout 3: BLES-00334
Fallout 3 GOTY: BLES-00738

German

Fallout 3: BLES-00336
Fallout 3 GOTY: BLES-00742

Spanish

Fallout 3: BLES-00337
Fallout 3 GOTY: BLES-00741

Italian
Fallout 3: BLES-00335
Fallout 3 GOTY: BLES-00740

Austria

Fallout 3:BLES-00399
Fallout 3 GOTY: BLES-00739

The noted exception is problems some folks are having with the Canadian release. We're still working on that and when I have more information to share, I'll let you know.

Bethesda should get a reward for releasing important information like this in a timely manner... like when everyone has already propped down their cold hard cash with the promise that their old save games would work fine...

Well,I guess I'm not the only one that is hoping that a patch to fix this mess is in the works. My problem is exactly the same as yours.Pre-ordered the GOTY edition from EB Games and traded my old version in.My BLUS# is 30455 and have no idea what the old one was. I have 160 hours into the original-so now I sit and wait for some kind of a response as to what the "plan" is to fix this. :toughninja: I am English Canada and the BLUS# posted before is listed English Canada....

I am also got the BLUS bait and switch (FO3:30185(US)/GOTY:30455(FR.CAN)) and it's been a week already since I got my copy. I hope Bethesda patch this before Nov starts, some hacker makes a program to able to mod the game saves without disable the trophies or someone calls lawsuit for false advertising. Ether way, I just want to continue from my game :(

Good lord Bethesda, give the people what they want. Such a talented group of people working on such a superb game can't possibly let something like that fly. I am angry and I have every reason to be. The lack of information/update is genuinely disheartening. Maybe a lawsuit might surface soon, who knows. It's not a threat, it is common sense.

So, still no response?

Maybe they did release one, but it's not compatible with our version of the internet...
