Original fallout 3 saves

EBgames is corporate run not franchise, so if his EBgames will take it back and mine will too, your EBgames is sure to as well. If they haven't heard of the issue (mine didn't) just explain the situation....usually EBgames staff are pretty reasonable...just remember your receipt.

Waiting is a [censored]

right on, I'll have to go give it a shot.

atleast in Kingston, ON they are not letting me return the game. They are insistent that there will be a patch as it have been said on the forum which atleast I haven't seen.

Anyways stuck with this for the time being and as I said earlier, I shall be waiting till the end of November afterward I will just trade it in

Insistent on a patch? gamesas has not made any mention of any sort. That's just speculation on our part. I hope they don't use speculation to deny you a refund.

I just came back from my EBGames franchise near Montreal. And a refund is not possible. I'm freaking pissed right now!!! I don't care if I have to buy an american one for my saves to work. Just refund my GOTY back. If they don't fix this soon... They'll lose 1 loyal customer...

Gstaff.... Where are you now...?, We miss you...

...Until it starts freezing and glitching.

Sorry, I had to do that.

But there's no need to be like that, there are many people in here who are much less fortunate with the game than yourself.

I can't see the freezing and glitching of this game ever being fully corrected. They may eventually fix the game breaking issues with the DLC one day, & look into the issues with the save files. The save issue will have to be fixed though, since the wrong region of the game was distributed and sold to many people, so in fact a law has -in some way been broken for the consumers here.

I don't like the fact that the game has been out for a year and it's still in such a shocking freezing glitchy state. It would seem to the consumers, that Bethesda do not give a damn. I want to be proven wrong one day and have a game that I can enjoy...

The games freezes for 2-3 seconds sometimes (happened 3 times this afternoon), no other problem.
It's not like Demon's Souls that somethimes start being REALLY slow (something like 5 FPS) until you get to a loading screen!

guys, let's try to stay on topic here. which is getting our original game saves to work with the GOTY for Canadian users, and other affected users.

NOT how buggy and glitchy the game is... which I have to say, is greatly exaggerated by many. The PS3 is no more buggy than any other versions of the game, other than in PointLookout, and The Pitt. Since starting over with a new character in the GOTY on the 16th, I've only had 2 freezeups.

but again.. bugs are not what this thread is about... this thread is about game saves!!!

Agreed. There are plenty of other threads about freezing and glitches. Mind you this thread is gonna be locked soon anyway. Mind giving us an update Bethesda? And not just were orking on it? Please?

The producer doesn't like Fallout3 too much. But that is really good costumer support. It took em less then 1 day to fix this.

Sort of off topic, but it's interesting that Fallout 3 also had a friend's list problem, along with any sort of system message, that would slow the game down anytime someone logged etc. A temporary workaround was to play without an internet connect, but controller issues would still affect the game.

As I mentioned earlier, the first patch came out almost two months later that addressed this issue. To gamesas's credit, the patch also did include trophies and other bug fixes, but that's a pretty big time gap in comparison to Gearbox.

I doubt very much if this is all that difficult a problem to solve. My guess would be that the problem is if gamesas releases a patch that alters a "save file" what's to keep all the busy little hackers from using the patch to alter the game file in any way they want. The patch would supply enough coding to reverse-engineer the save file - thus opening a virtual Pandora's box of trouble for gamesas. The fix will probably have to come in the form of an update where actual game files (not "save files") are altered. That takes a little more time. Patience brethren.

The most painless and easiest method for fixing our save problem is for Bethesda to release an app for windows that simply changes the BLUS code on our save files. It's simple.

1. Download app from bethesda onto PC
2. Using a USB key, copy the save games from your PS3
3. Plug in the USB key to your PC
4. Run the Bethesda app and fix the saves
5. Copy files from USB back to PS3
6. ENJOY!!!

Here's an even quicker fix, take your game back to EBgames, get a refund or trade it in (at this point it doesn't matter anymore) and get something that was actually produced by a group of professionals. Seriously, I'm waiting another week then I'm getting rid of this game. How long does it take to release a patch? Gearbox took care of it in one day. Get your act together Bethesda, you're losing customers off this. I'm never buying another game they release in the future.

Couldn't have said it better myself. After really enjoying Oblivion this is pretty disappointing overall and I will not buy another title they put out until I know it's fine.

BTW, Gearbox fixed the issue in just less then a day. They also said we promise to fix this issue. Its taken Bethesda over 2 weeks, and they still haven't confirmed anything.

I finally got tired of waiting for a patch that will never come. I've learned my lesson, sold my Canadian GOTY to a guy and bought the game again from amazon.com(US) not the .ca. I lost 20$ in the process, but at least I got rid of this doomed version. By the way, the US version cost less than the Canadian one if you check their value with the exchange rate. LOL I will never again buy a Bethesda game from any Canadian retailer. It seems I have no choice of buying US. At least I'm helping the economy.

Bethesda:
The noted exception is problems some folks are having with the Canadian release. We're still working on that and when I have more information to share, I'll let you know.

More interesting problem is freezing problem.

so the other day i sent an email to bethesda support:

-----------------------
hi there, i am from canada and my save file will not recognize on
my goty! the blus of my fallout 3 is 30185 and blus30455 for my game of
the year. i was under the impression that they would work. if you could
help me with this issue i would appreciate it. thank you in advance

and then a couple days later they responded with:

Hello,

The GOTY will not recognize the save files from the Canadian version of the original Fallout 3 game.

Best Regards,
Ye Y. at Bethesda Softworks Technical Support
support04@gamesas.com

WTF?!?!? no word on a fix or anything!!! this is really annoying!! anyone else write an email? what was the response you got?

Aw man, that response svcks big time. This is totally expected though. A company that makes broken unstable incompatible games is obviously going to have problems of the same throughout the entire company in every department, level of employee, etc... - that is their fundamental company motto.

Fact of the matter is, Bethesda will NOT fix our save compatibilty problem - Canada is too small of a country for them to even bother. They screw up with the release versions here, and we pay the price of the problem. Canadians that have supported Bethesda over the years are now VICTIMS of FALSE LOYALTY.

What I do urge is that all of you fellow Canadians just simply not buy and support any future games from Bethesda. I will, like I've done with Electronic Arts - never bought a game from them in the last 10 years.
