I wish Bethesda would confirm they will fix it with a patch, because if they can't I'm going to try and argue my local EB into giving me a refund. They sold me a product that promised to have a feature which it doesn't; I think that's worthy of a refund. Regardless of if they are at fault they are still selling a malfunctioning product; we should take it up with the stores we bought it from, and they should take it up with Bethesda. This is, of course, if Bethesda can't fix the issue; so hurry up and let us know! :P

Yes Bethesda what's going on? Cuz after hearing that the DLC wasn't goig to be released for the PS3 I went and bought it for the PC along with all the DLC only to find that the computer crashes all the time! (yes it's a very good gaming comp with all updated drivers) Now I can't load up my old game and I'm tired of starting over and not seeingthe new stuff!

Ya seriously what the heck is going on?!? At least come out and say you'll fix or won't fix this. I want to argue and try to return it too if this can't get fixed.

Supposedly they are: "Hello,

This is an issue we are currently investigating. "

so investigating....how long until this becomes a resolved issue that I remember every time I see Bethesda on a game box.

Yes, same problem as well - extremely disappointing....

I bought the game on Wed and was totally shocked that it just didn't work with original saves. Wish I had known before hand as I would have held on the purchase...now that the weekend is here, still can't enjoy the expansions. As a PS3 only owner (no 360) I'm totally let down by Bethesda...not only with the year long wait for the 5 expansions, but this compatibility issue is salt in the wound.

I feel the same way, i've actually written to them and they've assured me that they're investigation the situation. Still I've actually lost faith in Bethesda. I don't want to play Fallout 3 anymore (especially since I'll have to replay over 100 hours just to get my character back) and I'm definitely not buying another game developed or published by them ever again. Additionally, I'm letting all my friends know not to buy Fallout 3 GOTY. Bethesda better pick up the ball on this cause they are going to lose a lot of fans.

I've got the same complaint that the rest of my fellow Canadians have: bought fallout3 and played 100+ hours on it with the BLUS-30185 version, just bought the GOTY edition today with the BLUS-30455 version...and now my save games aren't recognized by the new disc. This is very upsetting, since I purposefully decided not download the DLC and instead went with buying the new GOTY edition. And both the games were bought at the same store too.

I know Bethesda says they're looking into this, but I'm sure all us Canadians would just like to know some more info as to when a patch will be available. Most stores won't take back a game once its been opened and I'd hate to have the game sitting on my shelf doing nothing but reminding me that I wasted $70.

You guys probably saw this pinned topic recently. http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1048408

It mentions the Canada issue, but I think the serial numbers pretty much explain themselves. Canada originally had two Fallout 3 games. The largely for USA game, 30185, and the French-Canadian version, 30234.

When the GOTY came out, apparently only the French-Canadian version, 30455, was shipped to Canada. What can gamesas do? They need to ship the USA GOTY to Canada so gamers can exchange their wrong version for another. Do we really need developers messing with the game even more with a patch? Seriously, lol. This isn't really a software issue. It's like if the local North American video store got a stock of the Japanese version of a DVD. It's not going to work on the majority of DVD players.

All of this information would have been GREAT if it was, you know, released before people went ahead and dropped $70 on something that doesn't work like it's supposed to. I would have spent my money elsewhere, maybe towards a game the worked out of the box.

Right but then why did Bethesda ship the Collectors Editions with US versions of the game? My "Canadian" CE has a BLUS- 30216 number on the sleeve while the game inside is BLUS- 30185. If Bethesda shipped the proper version in the first place this would've been all avoided.

I still even have my receipt for my "Canadian" CE, lol.

I originally bought the Collector's Edition of Fallout 3 and it probably only contained the US version of the game, sold in Canada. I can't confirm the code as I traded it in for for store credit.

I bought the CE and now the GOTY from the same store, my local Futureshop (or Futurescam for those that can relate)...

Honestly, this region code compatibility issue is not hard to fix. I believe Bethesda already has a fix for us, but they're hoping to add more fixes into the patch they'll release...but when it is they do plan to release depends on how many bug fixes they're trying to cram in. Personally and unfortunately, given their track record support for their PS3 games, I don't have much faith in them giving us a fix any time soon.

So yeah, I'm hoping for the best from Bethesda for a quick fix and punctual support response, but at the same time, I've been burned too many times from them...I just don't want to get my hopes up too high and again face complete disappointment.

Maybe what I or most of us don't realize is that were just small time Canadians to the rest of the world.

I don't know why it happened. Maybe because they tried to cut costs on producing a bilingual version of the game. No clue.

All I know is that there were two versions of the original game sent to Canada. My point is that I don't think a patch is going to fix this problem. It's much easier to just get the correct game than to mess with the coding. Heck, the 30234 game, doesn't even have the original patch yet! The patch is done, and gamesas still hasn't gotten to resolving this issue. If they can't even patch that game almost a year later, it makes me wonder how they plan to patch only one version of the game to work with a certain GOTY.

So maybe we shouldnjist go and get our refunds get a used copy of fallout and download stuff we want. I mean having already spent 70 bucks we could trade it in for the now cheaper Fallout and get the good DLC for cheaper anyway! Well maybe... Ha! I hate speculation.

Yup. Well since they've been unable to confirm that they will fix this issue, I'm heading to EB Games to fight to return my copy as defective. I'd like to spend some of my leisure time this weekend enjoying a game. I've read excellent reviews on Demons Souls. Thinking it'll be a pretty good Action RPG.

"looking into" and "aware of" does not equal "committed to fixing". If they had of committed to fixing this issue, whether by replacing our game discs or patching the game, I wouldn't have cared if it took a month or more. As long as there was some form of commitment to those of us who were loyal enough to buy their game not once, but twice. Simply unacceptable. I will no longer be a loyal gamesas customer. I figure by the time this is resolved I should be able to pickup a copy used for 30 or 40$ off of Kijiji.

Thank you for caring enough for your Canadian customers to show some sort of resolve to make this right. /Sarcasm

Maybe I'll submit this to Slashdot and see if it'll reach the front page....
