Original 2 Fallouts for OSX on steam

Post » Mon Nov 29, 2010 9:46 am

Hey there. On wednesday the 12th, steam was officially released for Mac. I have just been having a bugger of a time tracking down a copy of the original Fallout. I found Fallout 2 with no problem, bought it, played it through twice and immensely enjoyed it. Fallout 1, however, still eludes me. A while back i found a single copy of it at ebay for like $100.

So heres the deal. I badly want the Mac version of Fallout 1, but am not willing to shell out almost twice it's original value for it. I am rather confused as to who owns the distribution rights for the original games after that legal battle between Bethesda and Interplay, but either way I really hope that they consider adding the Mac versions of the first two fallout games on steam. Considering the PC versions are up there, it can't be THAT big of a request. Please Bethesda, please.

Interplay owns original games. Legal issue about original games is about semantics as trilogy implies to including third part in Bethesda's opinion and that concerns only Fallout Trilogy/Collection collection, that includes FO, FO2 and FO:BoS. Game is that expensive only due to rarity. So go ask Interplay or buy non steam PC version and use DosBox emulator, FO and FO2 weren't Windows native games, those were originally made for MS-DOS.

Actually, they are windows native. FO1 can be loaded in a Windows native, or DOS native environment, but FO2 can only be loaded as windows.

I'd recommend Boot camping for both myself.
