Original Guns vs Real Life Inspired Guns

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 8:56 am

In the footage we've seen it appears that there are more original looking weapons that aren't inspired by real world weapons. The assault rifle, the pipe rifle, and what appears to be a SMG are all original weapons that can't be traced to a real world firearm. The only two weapons I saw that look like real world weapons were the scoped bolt action, and the double barrel shotgun. In the previous games we had plenty of weapons inspired by real world counterparts, such as the Chinese assault rifle(ak-47), and the marksman carbine(AR/M4), just to name a couple. I'm wondering if F4 may be going away from the real world weapons in favor of original designs.

Which do you guys like better original or real world inspired?

Both are great, but being original is good, and it's great to have real world weapons in the mix. but i like more original gun better.

I like them both tbh. Although mods that add real world weapons usually come out anyway.

The only real world weapon I like to have when I can is the MP5. It's a pretty famous firearm though, I'm sure there will be a mod for it

I'd imagine that we would see FO3 guns again.

Base weapons
Assault rifle
Chinese assault rifle
10mm pistol
10mm SMG (receiver is different, might be lumped together into a 10mm)
Laser pistol/rifle
Plasma p/r
Gatling later
Minigun

Etc

IMO it's a mix of both. remember we share a timeline with the fallout universe up to the mid 1900's. Our guns were inspired from previous guns in our timeline, just as fallouts guns are. so some traits will be similar and some will be different. the AK47 was developed in 1947 and was inspired by a german gun in world war 2. so you see how inspiration is a mix of what we have currently experienced in history and what the developers create for their own fallout timeline

Yea, I understand why they have similar weapons, from the shared timeline and everything. Although there are plenty of different things that happened before the mid 20th century that make it different from our world.

With the new modular weapon customizing system, it might be harder to have guns that look very close to IRL ones, or even all of the ones in FO3/NV.

(And yeah, I'm sure there'll be mods. My current play of FO3 is using the FOOK2 mod, which adds dozens of real-world guns on top of the regular ones. My current load includes a PSG1 sniper rifle, Eulogy's gold-plated Desert Eagle, and a Benelli M1 shotgun.)

Im very happy with the original designs, give the devs more creative freedom and overall makes it feel like Bethesdas Fallout.

I'd take the F4 assault rifle, over the F3 assault rifle any day. So originality is good, although a few real world inspired guns aren't so bad either.

A healthy mix of both is nice. Although I do prefer the original designs slightly more.

Beyond a revolver or two Im doubtful, with a East coast setting again the cowboy angle of NV doesn't work as well.

Yeah... I still want them.

Watch - all that E3 weapons stuff will turn out to be fake and all the guns will be muzzle loaders. For East Coast atmosphere.

I don't know. Look at how many variants there are of the AR-15.

We have different tastes then...much prefer a CETME rifle, even though the assault rifle has a more 50s vibe to it.

While having new cool-looking guns is great. There's nothing that's more badass than http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/.45_Auto_pistol

Can't stand the look of that new Assault Rifle. The carbine version isn't quite as bad but I really hope it's not the only Assault Rifle to choose from. I would love to see a return of the R91 (I'm definitely modding it to be like the Infiltrator if it does come back!), an AR15 type weapon, or maybe even a bull pup design.

I'm easy. They could call a 38mm pistol whatever they want, so long as it looks good and get's the job done.

Its quite amusing in a way that a lot of these Countries that existed before the Great War, now really only exist in name because of signature weapons scattered across the wastelands of America.

since there semes to be a full auto mod worst case scenario you could slap that on a semi auto you like the look of.

Hmm, I had not considered this. What kind of semi automatic gun would you see this working with?

I guess it could work with an extended mag mod. Though it would be kind of funny to have an assault hunting rifle lol

I agree, I don't completely hate it, but I would much rather have the Chinese assualt rifle over the new design. After looking at it some more, it looks like they took inspiration from the WW1 maxim machine gun.

each to there own, I like it, looks like a 1950s car designer was allowed to make a gun, plus hey at least its not boring generic ak or M16 number 3 bazzilion.
