Original TES games available as console downloads?

Post » Tue Aug 20, 2013 6:04 am

Could this possibly be done? I know fans of TES who don't have/can't afford a good computer would love to be able to play the original games on console, any thoughts on this forum? Because I know I wouldn't mind playing them myself if they were released on the 360.

Also, If all you're going to do is whine about how YOU think that the original games should be left alone then please don't bother posting a response.

It's not a matter of whether we WANT them ported to console or left alone, it's a matter of economics. The cost of labor to convert the games, the cost of licensing the tools to convert them, and the fees charged by the console makers for each game ported to their machine, mean that it's not economically practical, even if it's possible. I also read something about the source code for Daggerfall being lost or something to that effect, so they might have to totally remake the game from scratch. Not going to happen.

These are DOS games, and no console is going to emulate that OS. The games would have to be completely re-written for a new engine that could run on a console. So, do you want them spending their time and resources to offer old games on a new OS or for them to make new games?

Besides, the PC needed to run these older games can be purchased used for about $100, or even free, as someone has to pay to throw these out now.

There are several threads about this subject already in the http://www.gamesas.com/forum/15-past-elder-scrolls-games/ forum, no need for more.
