Oscaro's Oblivion Overhaul Help

Post » Thu Aug 26, 2010 6:28 am

I downloaded and installed OOO without any problems but as for playing it I can't. It's too damn hard. I mean I wanted a challenge but I can barely take down a Mountain Lion without dieing. So I am looking for tips on basically getting started. I made an ork battlemage and I am using the Alternative Start Over Haul. I started in Anvil and decided to do the "Ghost Ship Of Anvil" quest. Big mistake I went in and immediately go killed by the first wraith. So I reloaded and tried again and died again. So I decided to try again this time I ran in casted a shield spell and beserk and just charge to the crystal ball grabbed it and ran the [censored] out. I made it out with 4 health left. Now I get OOO is supposed to be hard but how am I gonna level if I keep dieing over and over? So I am looking for tips on surviving OOO

Apart from the OOO tips thread, which is around somewhere, you could try some of the ruins and forts very near the Imperial City. I might be misremembering, but I seem to recall that some of these, at least, were kind of intended to be early experiences for the tender OOO PC.

For example, I just went in with a new character (Level 2, actually) to Vilverin and cleared it out. Not the easiest thing I've ever done, maybe especially at that level, but hey, it's done now, and she's gained a tidy amount of XP from it as well.

I'm playing FCOM, mind you, which although centred around OOO, is a bit different, naturally. Possibly a bit harder though... it's been a while since I played pure OOO, so I couldn't be sure.

You should have started in the prison so you get some armor/weapons, the imperial city area is the easiest... remember there's no auto-level anymore with OOO, and wraiths are pretty powerfull... I don't think I was able to take down mountain lions neiter with lvl 1, I always go to do the quests around the imperial city (easy ones), first battles in the arena, vilverin/sideways cave and other ruins near the IC (bun not the last areas!)

Now there're more guards patrolling the roads, that might help... very important thing is to use your money: buy scrolls, weapons, armor... whatever. People recommend buying "open very hard" scrolls for the last chests in Sideways cave hahaha

I dont remember the name but there was a wolf cave which was pretty easy too... just go exploring (as I said, around the imperial city not ANVIL) and do whatever you can... if you're planning to be mage most of the recommendation quests are easy so do them early (not the leyawin one) fighters guild...well I don't think the mountan lion quest in Anvil was that hard (did you do it?) so yeah you could begin too... don't go to kvatch early though, I'd wait until... level 5 or so... I went very early and used resurrect on the dead guards lol

This is normal: with OOO the world no longer turns around you: some places are naturally impossible to do at level 1. A good general tip is to remember is that you should start at the imperial city and explore some dungeons near the IC: they are easier. The farther you get from the IC, the harder it gets.

Um yeah, thought I pretty much covered that upthread. ;)
