Oscars

Post » Thu Oct 07, 2010 3:10 am

Tom Hanks just mentioned a couple of movies like Ben-Hur, Schindler's List as getting Cinematography, Art Direction and Best Movie at the same time. And the last one being TITANIC ten years ago. Academy wants another Titanic? :toughninja:

So far:

PS. Ten nominations for Best Movie? Just ridiculous.

Wow, I've literally seen none of those movies. In fact, including everything in your poll, I've only seen Harry Potter and Iron Man 2 :sadvaultboy:

I've only seen Iron Man 2. I'm really pulling for the Coens to win Best Director, and True Grit to win Best Picture. I'm a huge fan of theirs.

I saw Justin Timberlake come on screen and say "I'm Banksy!" and that was the end of my Oscar-watching.

I hope True Grit wins something, it was a great movie.

I am not different. :sadvaultboy: Interestingly, all ten interests me. I will see these for sure:

127 Hours
Black Swan
The Fighter
The King's Speech
True Grit

Only heard good things about them.

PS. GO Christian Bale.

PPS. I will decrease the poll options.

I would so love Toy Story 3 to win the Best Picture award. It's about time that the movie that moved me the most this whole year got it, no matter if it's animated or not. We've been keeping the Animation Ghetto for far too long.
€: Meh, checked and seen that it's already "best animated". Oh well, there's always next time. More room for True Grit.

And I'm sure to go to Hollywood and stare really, really evil at those responsible if Black Swan wins. That was one horrible clichéd in-your-face film. Bah.

Voted for everything because I could.

Out of the ones I've seen and you've listed, I liked all of them. I really enjoyed True Grit, but I liked the action scenes in Inception more. Well, I'm no movie critic, but Inception was wildly popular.

On a somewhat tangential note, would you recommend The King's Speech? I've been thinking of watching it, but I heard on an internet forum that their outfits were bad. Inception had classy outfits.

I think Darren Aronofsky is genius. He will get one eventually. I can't comment on Black Swan, I haven't seen it. I would love Toy Story getting Best Movie, but they already gave Best Animation. I don't know.

Inception, 3 oscars so far. Since C. Nolan gets a piece from everyone of them, he has one whole oscar by now. I hope he doesn't get his Oscar from Inception.

I don't like any of those options. Also, which one of us is the REAL C.L.U.?

I've had the pleasure of seeing the majority of the best picture nominees this year, and my personal opinion is that 127 Hours or True Grit should win best picture. However, it's pretty much a shoe in for The King's Speech to win, which in its own right was an amazing movie, I just don't feel it's that much better than all of the other nominees.

I think Darren Aronofsky is genius.

I usually like his movies, too. Pi, Wrestler, Fountain, all really grand. Requiem I can't get myself to like, naturally, but I admire what it is.
Now, Black Swan is so... I don't know if "clichéd" is still the right word. There's everything in there that you expect a ballet movie to have - every stereotype, every scene you need, every great reveal of psychological drama is predictable, there's really nothing new to, it felt so old and dull, yet tried so hard to use its "twists".

It was like Avatar, as in it looked fantastic, but the plot was too cliche.

...As was every other movie I saw this year to be honest.

Tron was the only movie from 2010 that I thought really lived up to it's hype. So, yeah.

Maybe not VFX(it wasn't good in every shot) but that soundtrack was really something. Ten seconds inside and I was already in the mood. Classic Academy ignorance.

The VFX didn't really need to be 100% perfect though, since the whole world was supposed to be digital. I mean hey, look at the original's VFX. Legacy's were a big step up. :P

I think that Inception isn't going to win even it's a great film. I think that Social Network is going to win.
And Billy Crystal was funny as allways.

This guy is funny.

I hate his character in SM3 greatly.

PS. Tron Legacy had some nice twists actually. I was on the edge of my seat whole time.

Can't really vote, but Inception was the best movie I've seen out of the ones in your poll.

I have not seen a single movie in any of those options. True Grit and Inception are the only ones I'm interested in seeing. I vote Scott Pilgrim.

Was severely astonished that Inception didn't win best movie.. I mean, lol? That was without a doubt the most popular movie of 2010, hands down. Do you know anyone who didn't see it? Do you know anyone who doesn't love Christopher Nolan?
What rubbish. The Kings Speech?? LOL. That was an atrocious remake of a classic movie. GG.
