Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul SPOILERS

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 6:54 pm

Are the display cases with the Meteoric weapons in Umbacano's Manor supposed to not be opened, ever? After completing his quest (for the first time ever) he drops four keys, most of which seem to not do anything. One of the keys lets me open the doors in the manor, but nothing else seems to open with any of the other keys. Two of these keys aren't in the vanilla game from what I see on UESP, only the Umbacano's Key and Umbacano Manor Key are on it, while Umbacano also dropped Umbacano's Tiny Key and Umbacano's Jeweled Key.

Use the Tiny Key to open a jewel case hidden in one of the bedrooms (the one closest to his study IIRC) - it has the key you need to open the display cases.

First thing I want to say thank you for making this mod, which includes dev, and oscuro and the whole OOO team. Making a game challenging where each region is a different difficulty, its very welcome and brings back the feeling of old RPG's especially dragon warrior where the further you went from the beginning town, the harder things got.

Next is I'm wondering did the new version/beta get released yet? I knew it was being discussed in august, but I haven't seen or heard anything since.

Finally I think that it makes an awesome mod to use, it is truly incredible to see the mod at work, especially with MMM. Now I have to rethink character builds for when I play because armorer and block are two main skills that are needed drastically.

And about Umbacano's stuff, this is unrelated though mildly related, what can we do with the stuff after the quest, not to mention his home, and what mods are there so we can put the statues on display in our own home

Ah, will have to go back and check that out. What's the Jeweled Key for then?

Edit: Hrm, UV didn't like that at all. Got the weapons and removed the script from one to place it in my off hand, game crashed when I attempted to gripshift it. OCPS went off like 20 times really fast before the game ended up crashing anyway. Tried it again and the game window just shut, no crash message or anything,

I have a problem with the Molag Bal quest: I drop the cursed mace in front of him. I hit Melus and he picks up the mace and attacks me and gives me a good whipping. I get transported back to the shrine. OK.

THEN my log entries will be updated with TWO entries for "I have goaded... with the mace... I have been transported back." This update I'm getting twice  Then the next update I get is "Melus is dead, I won't get any reward" and Molag now despises me. Why is he dead? I didn't kill him? My PC is level 4 and has about 89 health points. I heal myself during the fight, I don't think his last hit gets me under zero HP (mentioned in UESP).

Is his death related to his claymore that is still in the ground there. I could not take it out. I got 2 quest entries for the claymore quest as well. I would think the claymore quest and the Molag quest run independently from each other (it's my first playthrough)

I read up the quest in UESP Wiki, but maybe OOO made some changes? I could post a screenie of the 2 identical log entries I get whwn warped back to the shrine. Thanks for any help. :)

I think I found the solution: the hickup was related to the Streamline 3.1 mod. I don't know which of the 4 submodules of SL may have caused it as I run all 4 of them. I suspect it is related to Streamsave where I have enabled "Save after battle". Maybe with the warp-back and the streamsave going on about at the same time causes some interference.

In any case temporarily disabling SL from the load order resolved the issue.

I could now complete Molag Bals quest normally. I do still get two log entries with the "I have goaded Melus... with the mace..." text. But maybe this is normal in OOO?

I'm encountering a big problem in OOO. I am a level 3 thief. I have acquired some decent items (Noble Waraxe, Silver War Axe, Mithril Boots, Orcish Boots, etc.) but they all seem to be terribly underpowered.

Noble Waraxe: 3 damage
Silver War Axe: 2 damage
Mithril Boots: 1 armor
Orcish Boots: 1 armor

Why do these seemingly high-quality items provide the same amount of damage/armor as iron or leather items?

What's your current weapon and armour skills?
The higher they are the better stats on items.

Since I couldn't find the answer myself I'll simply ask it here.

Anyone got a link pointing to a download for Midas Magic for OOO? The link on the Midas Magic page on TESNexus is dead. :(

Wait... do you even need a patch to get Midas Magic working alongside OOO smoothly?

Sorry if this is a bad place to ask this question too, but seeing as how this thread is about OOO..... :P

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23512 allows "the Assimulator in Midas's shop to split gold bars and big gold nuggets, perfect gems, gem pieces, and gold clutter into usable gems." It's broken with the latest releases of Midas, though, IIRC.

So I can DL Midas right now and install it, with OOO running, and everything should work fine? I don't have many other mods installed, mostly companions and such. And the Imperial City changes. So nothing should really conflict.....

Only one way to find out for sure! :P

Yes, they are perfectly compatible except for OOO gold bars etc. not working in the assimilator.

Well I don't even know about that stuff yet :P

I have only played OOO for a grand total of like 10 hours. But, if in the future I find I NEED that patch, at least I know where to look!

Thanks for the help!

Great mod. Question with the lockpicking/bashing mechanics, though.

One of the forts has a level with low water throughout one of the sublevels. There's a locked chest in there. The problem is that I'm always swimming in the water depth, but above the water (don't get the water-draining bar from holding my breath). There's a chest there that's locked. Since I'm swimming, I can't crouch to lockpick. Since I'm swimming above water level, I can't use power attacks to bash the lock open (just not allowed by the game). Is there a way around this without using the console?

Duh, the answer is to just sheath weapon. My bad.

I have a technical issue also, I suspect this isn't the right thread for it though.

Question: how do I get Marus's gauntlets from the Lords Crypt in Fingerbowl Cave?
Am I right in assuming that I need to get his boots first? Because if that's true, it's going to be a while as I don't want to enter lost boy caverns until lvl 23 so I can meet the special lich.
EDIT: I also chose 'say nothing' at the claymore, assuming I would be able to come back later. Was this a viable option?

1st, don't do Molag Bal's quest if you want the Heaven's Fury stuff. This is heavily hinted at in the readme/spoiler page on the OOO site and, once you finish Molag Bal, you can't do Path of Iron.
2nd, no, you can pick up the pieces in any order. I picked up all the ones that were (slight spoiler) guarded by spectral warriors (end spoiler) as I had a good setup to beat them.
3rd, with OOO I didn't run into the well-known lich bug in Lost Boy. Could interact and kill him just fine before level 10 even.
4th, look into Melus more. You see the claymore, you might check out his house some for clues.

I've got a technical question.

While on my way to Skingrad, I passed the Military Build Up quest ( the one with the diagonal tower ), and I think the area has an effect where your screen shakes every half minute or so.

Well, I've passed there, gotten the effect, but the effect won't go away! I'm now in Skingrad and no matter what I do, restart the game, enter a new area, etc etc, my screen will shake every half minute or so. Anybody have a solution?
