Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul SPOILERS, Thread #27

Post » Mon Jan 31, 2011 7:50 am

Is there a 2 handed winged sword? I found a winged longsword and a 2 handed winged axe, but I want a winged greatsword so badly.

There's a Winged Claymore in a container in Umbacano's house. In the "attic" IIRC.

Did OOO change the Sideways cave in terms of geometry? I cannot find a way across the pit right next to the entrance of the cave. I vaguely remember there being a passage in the middle of the far wall of this pit in Vanilla Oblivion, but I can't find it now.

No, it's at the bottom of the pit, on the left side as you look from the entrance. There should be a pile of rocks on your side of the pit that allows you to descend safely. You can then 'double-back' on yourself to get to the far side of the pit.

Sweet. Shame it has to be stolen, but I just enchanted that bad boy. Besides, Umbacano is an evil genius anyway.

Sinkhole Cave. You could go to Vilverin too, but don't venture to the bottom level..thats where you'll have your first Spectral Warrior encounter...and at lvl1, you wont win lol.

I imagine most of the caves(except memorial maybe) around the IC area are ok for low level characters. However.. some of the sewer waterways have high level vampires.

All my chars tend to start out like this:

1. Vilverin (the Ayleid ruin you see from outside the sewer exit). It's a nice starter dungeon, except for the last section.
2. Market City, Imp City. Sell stuff and buy a couple of Open Hard and Open Very Hard scrolls, plus other items useful for the char.
3. Sideways Cave (the cave you see from the sewer exit). The last section is doable but can be tough. Nice loot for a Lvl 1 char. Need to be able to open a Hard lock.
4. Market City. Sell/buy stuff.
5. Nagastani (Ayleid ruin you see from the road to Cheydinhal). A fun challenge for low level chars. Use traps to your advantage if needed. Lots of nice loot for low level chars. Need to be able to open Hard and Very Hard locks.

It's a doable and quite profitable starting run. My current char got around 10,000 Gold for it, so she could buy all spells she wanted in Imp City, plus the bedroom and (more importantly) the Spell Making altar for Frostcrag. Sort of a flying start really.

I have a question with optimized meshes I currently run ooo 1.34 beta 5 with no problems . I found the optimized meshes for both 1.33 and 1.34 beta 5. My questions is can i just install these over the original package or do I have to start a brand new game and use they instead of the orignal1.33 and 1.34 beta 5. Thanks for any help.

You can install them over the original OOO install. You do not have to start a brand new game if only adding/replacing data files. There are few mods that have that heavy requirement anyway.

Thanks I can always count on you for help as usual. I have about 150 mods instead and I am pretty far and really don't want to start over . Thanks

Anyone know what the actual values of the Transcendent Sigil stones are for i.e. "Absorb spell" in OOO? In vanilla it is 15 - has this value been changed, or nerfed, in OOO? I haven't been able to get one of those at any rate - they seem to spawn unrandomly rarely...

OOO only nerfs the Sigil Stones with Elemental Shield so the Absorb ones still have vanilla values. Of course, the level at which you get Transcendent ones etc., is also changed but that's another matter.

Rats - might as well make my own ones then.... get 15% from grand soul gems, but the cost is a bit high (I am running LAME on top of OOO if that did not make sense to you). Oh I get Transcendent ones - just not those. Must have tried about 20 times now... plenty of fire-damage ones though... :P Seems to me that it is not entirely random as some of the enchantments are reappearing quite often whereas I have still to see a single one with "absorb spell" I guess the gold massed during 300 and something hrs of gameplay finally will come to use....

Thanx for the feed-back.

I am bumping this one as I really want to know. Don't see the point of LOD when it really does little damage to wamps even when fully powered up. Sorry if I am flooding a bit.

LOD (Light Of Dawn) Question:

After what seemed like an eternity of Vampire-grinding I finally got LOD powered up fully, got a little bit more fire-damage, and something called "destroy vampire on strike" - What does that last thing do? I was so thrilled about getting it maxed - but now I am thoroughly disappointed. The final stage LOD seems to kill Vamps a bit faster that lvl 2 LOD did (about 3p extra of fire-damage faster), but still It's much faster to just sneak-attack 'em with Goldbrand for 8xdamage and 20p of firedamage than using LOD. Yes I know I can't get disarmed, but so what - that matters little to me, I thought that "destroy vampire" thing was going to do something big, but I really can't tell what it does - I tried striking a Vampire just once to see if it was draining it's health or something but that does not seem to be the case.

So:
1) What does "destroy vampire on strike" really do and/or
2) Am I experiencing any bugs?

Jac

I'm having a little trouble with the Path of Iron quest. I'm having a bit of trouble getting the pieces of armor that were described in the guys journal. I've tried getting the boots and the chest and it says i need to unlock its mysteries or something somewhere else. What do i need to do?

To be able to pick up the armor pieces you need to get the quest started by:

1. Trying to pick up the sword.
2. Read the journal.
3. Return to the sword, try to pick it up, answer correctly.

Perhaps you forgot the last step?

A little faster? Let's see now... The first upgrade of LoD will do 3 points of fire damage and 10 points of 'anti-vampire' damage. The final upgrade will do 9 points of fire damage and 40 points of 'anti-vampire' damage. When you add the base damage (which increases with each upgrade) and a decent Blade skill, you should be doing something in the region of 3x the damage of the first upgrade with the final one. Of course, the 'anti-vampire' damage only works against vampires, so against anything else it's not going to be as good as something like Goldbrand, especially if you're sneak-attacking. :ninja:

Was just wondering if someone could give me some hints towards a place to find heavy-warrior enchanted armor and light-ranger type armor, i really hate enchanting my own gear with only 1 stat :(

?? I've got the Armor and Boots, Pretty sure if I would've took the sword, Molag Bal would not be possible, as is, it's still an option...

The steps I mentioned are to get the quest started, i.e. to be able to pick up the armor pieces. So you must have done it already. In order to actually pick up the sword you need to have picked up all armor pieces first.

I'd say the Winged Bow. For location, see OOO Spoilers FAQ linked in the OP.

What are the costs supposed to be on the various merchant enchanted items (say, Dondoron's Juggernaut)?

And are custom enchantments still superior, or has OOO added some powerhouse defaults?
