Other games like this?

I played Matrix: Path of Neo a few years ago and thought it was awesome, even if it did get a whole lot of flak from critics. I liked the evolution of your character: how you start off as a no one, clinging to the side of a building as an Agent Smith pursues you. Then confronting a single Agent later on in the game, and duking it out with him. Then defending your buddies from three or four Agents. Then learning how to not only dodge bullets, but to just STOP them in mid air. And finally, near the end, how you just become so powerful that you're literally taking on hundreds of Agents at once with your awesome martial arts skills.

Any other games like this, where you start off as nothing and slowly become more and more powerful until the end where you're almost a demi-god? I'm good for any genre, platform, or age. Even if I don't have, say, a PS2, I'll still look into it.

There's this game called Morrowind where you start off as a bum on a boat and later wind up slapping some gods around. Might be worth looking into.

I'd say Star Wars: Force Unleashed though the controls can be a pain in large battles

... Anyways, I'm aware most RPG's are like that, but it's not exactly what I have in mind. While you do become more powerful, you never get a chance to show that power in most RPGs because the enemies just get harder and harder. Except in a game like Two Worlds, where you start as a dude who can barely take on a pack of wolves, then, by the end, you're taking down hoardes of enemies in one swing of your giant ass sword.

That was a sick game. Too short though, and I would have liked to be just a teensy bit more powerful.

The only game that comes to mind as capturing that feeling would be Knights of the Old Republic 2; you start off with no Force Powers or abilities, but towards the end of the game you've recaptured most of your abilities and are hacking through all kinds of stuff. Not sure if that's quite what you're looking for, though.

As stated above, Force Unleashed is pretty good like that, so is Prototype.

But yea, most RPG's are like this; like in Oblivion and Fallout, where in the beginning you struggle to kill rats (molerats in fallout) but by the end of it, you're flicking away Deathclaws and Minotaurs with a pull of a trigger and a swish of a blade.

Hm...Okami? That one can be pretty rags-to-riches on the divine power scale.

There's the Nippon Ichi games, like Disgaea. They're levels so it's more of the whole "the same, but better" instead of a more comprehensive change, but nothing says powerful like being level 9999 and throwing around damage in the millions.

Have you tried Arena and Daggerfall? For those who don't know, you can get them for free off the TES downloads section. Of course graphics are not that good compared to todays games, but were pretty much top notch or really aceptable for thier time.

How about Baulders Gate series or Knights of the Old Republic 1 neve tried 2 yet.

Neverwinter Nights 2 and play as a mage. You're a real weakling in the beginning but when you get to the top you can kill things VERY quickly.

Europa Universalis III! You start off as a minor with a few provinces in the Holy Roman Empire, and bide your time and grow, vassalising electors and seizing more land. Then you either form the HRE and become a massive god-forsaken blob, or form Germany, and expand your glorious Reich to the four corners of the Earth, marshalling hundreds of thousands of soldiers and crushing all before you. Obviously that's just one scenario, and you can have your unstoppable rise to power with almost any country you fancy. :P

Crackdown on the Xbox 360.

I love that game, you start as a fairly standard agent but after a bit of levelling up you can throw buses and jump over skyscraqers. It's pretty fun though not at all RPG-esque, the story svcked as well.

Most RPGs follow that scheme, but one that particularly fits is Gothic (1, 2, 3, Risen). When you start, a rat can kill you if you're not careful, and you have to stay as close as possible to cities if you hope to survive, but by the end you're duking it out with gods.

HO HO HO Green giant

fixed

From the top of my head... The Devil May Cry series. Fable -- kinda, though you get powerful too fast and the game it too short.

That's all I can think of. I need to start gaming more.

For Titan Quest, 1) get the Gold edition with the expansion pack, 2)make sure to get the community patch. I also recommend the TQ Defiler (it's a 3rd party utility made by fans), it comes with some tweak mods (such as potion stacking). Once you beat the game on the first difficulty level, you can go back on higher difficulties to get better loot (creatures are leveled up to you on the re-plays, so they are still challenging) and continue leveling your character. Special bosses also appear.

For LoK: Defiance - you don't exactly become god-like (certainly not as much as in the other games I mentioned)... and the game does have its flaws (mainly, the camera is probably the hardest enemy in the game). However, the story and character development are really amazing. It's the last game in a series that started at the PS1 era. The game manual provides a synopsis, but it is kind of easy to lose track of what exactly is happening, especially since there's some time travel going on. There's a lot of fun puzzle solving, too.

In Rygar... I guess you never become super god-like, but you do pick up two new weapons, and you can find various power stones that give you special skills and buffs. Laughably bad voice acting, but the soundtrack and graphics are awesome. The boss battles can be wicked tough, though.

[PROTOTYPE] is sort of like that. You start the game with a bunch of powers you don't know how to use properly, then you start a few weeks in the past with few powers and slowly work your way up to the super-powerful person you saw you could be in the beginning. It's not the most exciting game in the world, in fact it's pretty repetitive and has little replay value, but it's pretty much exactly what you're looking for and should last you a solid week or so.
