Assassin's Creed and Red Dead Redemption's horse riding are nice. Thief for stealth. Dark Messiah for combat, magic (freezing enemies, freezing the floor, setting environment on fire with fireball and stuff like that) and a less overpowered kick ability (it should still be possible to kick people from cliffs if they are standing near the edge). Though I think mostly the animations and the feel of the combat should be Dark messiah like, the damage should be determined by your skills and maybe stuff like the momentum/speed of your weapon (like in Mount & Blade).
Assassin's Creed and Mirror's Edge for acrobatics (if you have a really high acrobatics skill) and maybe Brink's SMART system could work.
The Witcher for it's darker atmosphere (you might even look at the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games for inspiration, though these are off course far less similar to The Elder Scrolls than the Witcher is).

Aaaah yes the horse riding. True enough, though I think thats more about doing what they already do better. Same with the Thief part.

I voted for none, even though I love some of those series. I want TES to be TES.

What I do want to see is combat on horseback, nothing was more annoying then having to stop and get off of my horse to fight something. Or you'd be attacked near an Imperial Soldier, and he'd casually get of his horse, and then start screaming and waving his sword around

It's hard to say. I absolutely love Assassin's Creed, but I'm unsure how its features would translate to a first person game. I do love the story telling, graphics, and melee combat.

I also chose Myst as it was the first series of games I played. The puzzles were hard but worthwhile.

Fable - in a very loose sense, as in more social iterations please, and I wouldn't mind a pet :)
The Witcher - sword fighting styles, and awesome animations for it, switching between styles for different combat situations is great. Oh, and six :D I liked how it was done there :D
Assassins Creed - acrobatic, what else I can say? We have the skill let us use it!
Thief - for in depths gameplay for a stealth character, that part of TES is sorely primitive for now.

It's not on the list, but some Zelda-style puzzles would be nice.

Dark Messiah had interesting combat. Mirror's Edge and Chronicles of Riddike both showed off how 1st person Animation should work. And Bioshock provided interesting (if car too limited and predictable) elemental effects, such as lightning conducting through water and fire actually causing fires with the correct materials.

I wouldn't expect a copy of any of these games, Bethesda need to keep Skyrim unique and definitely an RPG, not an Action game. That being said the added believability that comes from things as "simple" as physics and animation should not be discredited. I've always felt immersion is just as important to a game as it's story and features.

Yeah that's true.

I guess the reason I said this is I never knew anything about TES when I first heard of it. Back in 2006 a friend said I just had to get Oblivion. After further prodding didn't work he showed me the game. I had never played anything like it. It was kind of like a single player MMORPG, but better (that was how my mind interpreted it I'm not saying it's like MMORPGs).

Its skill up system reminded me of Final Fantasy II, but done better. That was the only comparison. I was in awe that a single player game would be so open. I know many think Morrowind is better, but Oblivion has that "first game I played in the series" nostaligia for me. I really can't imagine what I'd want them to take from another game, simply because TESIV was so different from other games I'd played.

I guess the horse combat from the 3D Zelda games, just to try and choose something? I know they do that well. I'm not all crazy about horse combat but I know some are.

Sword horse battle from Twilight Princess:

I couldn't find a video of arrow use. I had to think to find anything from another game I'd want them to add though.

i understand what your saying, my first elder scrolls was oblivion too, i just installed yesterday morrowind on my laptop, but oblivion is really special in my heart, i love the music (have it on my ipod) i love the enviroment, i love the daedra dimension and its characters, they have something so evil, but i really dont want to play that game again because of its flaws that i m discussing here and other threads, so i hope they will make a change but i m not fanatic, if that one wont make it for me then its ok, maybe some time after years i will get the next one, i dont like fall out at all its really ugly, horse combat would be really something on a game if its done well

-Masseffect/DragonAge for great characters, story, and voice overs. Possibly even the ME2's speech-wheel.

-Theif/AssasinCreed for better stealth

-DarkMessiah for pretty much better combat in all categories

-ALL OF THOSE GAMES for a better UI. Scrolling through slow animated tabs and no UI-keybinds/hotkeys = fail.

Where's the "none of these" type of option?

I really don't want elements from other series. While Oblivion really didn't show it... TES has enough stuff in it for versatility and variety.

Mirror's Edge for how they did the first person view, Assassin's Creed for cloth physics, horseriding mechanics, and city design.
