Other mods for fcom

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 6:31 am

hey all!

ok so its my summer break and i finally have a computer that i hink can handle fcom!!!!! (iknowits lame but ive wanted to use fcom for goin on 3 years almost!! so excited!!)

im going to try to create a stable fcom but to be honest, once its running, i wanna play and not sweat mods anymore

so my goal is to try to use these mods

?Wrye Bash and OBMM

?UOP, USIP, DLCs & UOMP

?Francesco's Leveled Creatures Items

?OOO 1.33 and OOO 1.34 beta5 (patch requires OOO 1.33 Full. Full version only ATM).

?Oblivion WarCry and the WarCry 1.085b and WarCry 1.09 patches

?Bob's Armory 1.1 and Loth's Blunt Weapons for NPC's (optional)

?Armamentarium and Artifacts (optional)

?Martigen's Monster Mod 3.7b3, Diverse WaterLife Update 3.7b3pF (optional, if applicable)

?Cobl (optional), MMM 3.7b3 Cobl Update (optional, if applicable), MMM Runeskull Rebalance Beta 2 (optional)

?Cobl Races or Race Balancing Project (optional)

?FCOM 9.9 beta and UFCOM, the FCOM_WarCry 109 update

?OMOBS 2.0a

then i want to use a few body and texture replacers

i want to use supreme magicka

midas magic

and then whatever else sounds fun

my question are , i read somewhere that the fcom website is outdated, is this correct?
what other mods go well with fcom??
im hoping for at least one or 2 cool quest mods and other cool mods
is deadly reflex (dunno if this is right name) worth getting?
what else would you all recommend to enhance my fcom experience???

and also, last time when i got fcom running on my older laptop ( like 2 years ago) i remember this cool mod that had all these factions on the road it had traveling merchants and i remember running across camps of hunting parties what mod is this? or is it already part of fcom?

1. Yes, you should use http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1197195-relz-fcom-convergence-and-ufcom-relz/ as the base as it has the latest releases, install order guide etc.
2. Many. Most mods are compatible with FCOM so depends on what you're looking for. Realistic Fatigue is excellent. Zu's SI Overhaul if having Shivering Isles. Etc.
3. Some of my favorite quest mods: Mighty Umbra, Gift of Kynareth, Ivellon.
4. Deadly Reflex is excellent and very popular but not everybody likes it, so depends on what you are looking for as always. Certainly worth to try out I'd say. Note that DR 6 is in beta and a bit complicated to set up - DR 5 is basically plug and play but doesn't have some of the features in 6.

COBL races is mostly just an outdated stripped down version of RBP, so you'll probably want to go with RBP. Also RBP is a requirement for Integration, so there's another reason.

Might consider getting Less Annoying Magic Experience too. SM and LAME work pretty well together, and again LAME is required for Integration. On that note the author of RBP, LAME, and Integration uses FCOM as such the mods have some optimization towards FCOM. I mean I've used them with both vanilla, TIE, and OOO so it's not an exclusively for FCOM type thing, but the RBP+LAME+Integration trifecta should work well with FCOM. For instance in Integration you won't be forced to enter a extremely dangerous FCOM dungeon early in the quest lines. With some other quest mods a simple fetch quest becomes insanely hard because the item you have to fetch happens to be in a dungeon full of FCOM bosses.

I already mentioned one quest mod, which I really recommend getting; Integration is a truly unique quest mod and I mean that in the best way possible. You can find some of my other recommended quest mods and other such "must haves" for me in the below generic copy/pastes.

Deadly reflex is a good mod. It has a lot of requirements though and due to its complexity you may very well run into some bugs. Just a warning, FCOM is hard enough to install and make stable for some people. Personally I wouldn't risk further complications and complexity unless I knew I truly wanted the mod. You can always give it a shot though, and if it doesn't work out just uninstall it.

Hmm... Not sure. Maybe try the mods: tamriel travellers(this might be included in FCOM), Crowded Roads, and Wandering Encounters

Oh! And if you're installing COBL Races or Races Balancing Project, make sure you update the NIF files under Data/Meshes/Characters/saram(in both COBL Races and RBP) and Meshes/Characters/moira(in Races Balancing Project). They both have specific references for textures which are incorrect for most installs of oblivion, rather than static references. Moira refers to the wrong textures entirely.

And by update, I mean alter them yourself. I fixed the files myself, but I'm not sure if I should upload them.

The original page for the resources on the nexus says "You may use and distribute the models and textures freely without additional permission as long as the above my ID included." but I'm not sure about altered versions of said files.
