+1 to class-based multiplayer, and elaboration:
It's not just another class-based shooter. Team Fortress 2 is class-based, but the class differences don't tickle me the same way as Brink's. TF2's classes all have different ways of killing the enemy, and just two of them actually interact with other players on the same team. (Four if you count compression blast and Jarate, but those are pretty weak interactions.) I love TF2, and the diversity of the classes is excellent, but it's not fundamentally for people whose great joy in multiplayer gaming is working together as a team (ironically enough). No matter what class you are in Brink, you are able to interact with your teammates in some way. Either you're giving them health, or ammo, or a damage buff, or enemy positions on their minimap, and each of those things is a really big deal. It makes each member of the team important and meaningful even if most of the killing is being done by one or two guys, and that means it feels like more of a team.
