Other ways of texturing weapons and objects...?

Hey,

I'm the author of thus far two mods that both texture vanilla weapons to glow (http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198012464076/myworkshopfiles)
However, I find that when I do the glow textures that the part where the vanilla textures split (like most swords do mid-blade, for instance) is tough, because the textures has to line up correctly...

My question is if anyone knows of a software that somehow makes it possible to get these to line up someway easier than editing and checking in-game untill it works (last time, it took me two days to get one weapon to work, using that method...)...

Maybe something that let's you paint a texture right onto the weapon model?
I don't know...

Thank you for reading (:

I think you want http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/NifSkope. It allows you to view the model and texture you're working on, but you will need the model unpacked to open it not just the texture. Or you could just view it in the Creation Kit.
