On many magazine/review articles/sites, a games review can be expected to directly reflect either the already established hype, or how much the company said paid them to review the game. This has been going on since the dawn of time, and is how even a terrible game will get shining golden reviews. Most of said bad games are from companies that dump large amounts of money into these review sites, like gamespot and "insert console" magazine. Of course the hole effort is rather clandestine but known non the less. This is likely one of those scenarios. Either that, or its totally flunk and is based by popularity. Brink is, still, a little known title. Most of my friends know little to nothing about it, its not terribly well marketed and most of its hype was started by word of mouth and then the interested person looking into the game and finding the hype.
