Our First Look at Piper...

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 11:53 pm

No. This is an illogical inference. Unless Beth explicitly says only ONE companion (human or non human) can occupy a custom made settlement at any given time. All 12 of those companions might be able to inhabit exactly one settlement (similar to custom mod player homes in Fallout 3 and NV). Or we might get the option to settle any number of them in 1E+06 possible homestead building site locations across the wasteland....

The point is nobody knows what the settlement number limit is except Beth. Anything posted until then is 100% concentrated fan speculation.

edit: based on your reasoning, it would make more sense to assume at least 12 settlements at minimum...

I'm really hoping for this as an optional feature. Especially since we're going to be limited to the one traveling companion. Because that would be

1. an excellent resource of security specialists (with their specially upgraded weapons and capabilities) to defend your settlement and

2. a very convenient pool of recruiting companions all nicely located in one place. I'd prefer to leave Dogmeat in particular guarding my player home since he's lacking armor and would be the most vulnerable to being knocked unconscious.

This would also appeal to my hoarder trait. It would be nice to have everything in one tidy place tbh. :) And I must admit I find the idea of crafting and storing custom armor for the dog (much like that of the DG huskies in Skyrim) also extremely intriguing.....

I dearly hope that it doesn't have to do with Karma. In NV I couldn't have Cass as my companion because I was too evil and that was so annoying. I always, usually, play as the most evil character I can be. Being nice to only people I like. I would have had to be a totally different person to have her as my companion. I am completely unwilling to do that. Bethesda, please don't restrict me...

Heh, that would be pretty dope. Like, after the fight we step onto the vertibird that dropped them off (as shown in the first trailer).

I like the fact that you can order followers to loot bodies in an area, including the dog.

I also rather enjoy that there will be perks available for peeps that travel alone.

... followers can be fun, and they're great as pack mules, but, I've yet to find one that don't ruin stealth.

I'll certain "collect" all the available followers, dress them up, and park them at one of my settlements, but, I don't think I'll be travelling with them much.

Not even the puppy.

Ugh, so true. In FNV, the meter going from hidden to caution caused my companions to bolt into action. [censored] that was annoying.

Apparently, the guy who recorded the audio suggested that the character in the bottom of the video at 4:01 looks close to Piper ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5esyZPt5Jo), I can't find the comment anywhere I saw it last night, but that might have been in the Youtube comments for the Gameplaysyou upload, which has been taken down due to Zenimax.

She's even got a notepad if you look closely.

EDIT: Actually, I just found it. It also has what may be Piper's little sister.

Trying to get them to only shoot when shot at or when I shot was a pain, hopefully this time they do a better job...oh who am I kidding if anything it was a bigger pain in Skyrim at times.(seriously I honestly suspect that tis time around the perk they keep talking about by going lone wander is that you dont have the idiots breaking stealth and charging into your line of fire.

um that bird was already there aparently since that takes place at concord and the BOS drop happens in Lexington..

I approve!

I think you're getting lost in my translation. I'm talking about the event which occurs in Lexington where the BoS drops off to help the player. I'm not talking about Concord.

Just a quick point to do with how karma would affect various followers in previous games, bearing in mind we have no confirmation either way as of yet with regards to Fallout 4. Listen to what Brian T Delaney says on the subject during https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGnCrgw9BU0&feature=youtu.be&t=14m31s interview... very interesting.

EDIT: could this mean that our companions, including Piper (and of course our protagonist) may actually have a karma level?

I think faction allegiance will play as big role as karma for the companions

I wonder how many of the companions we haven't seen are human.

I don't expect to see another dog or robot, but I'm betting we'll get a ghoul and super mutant. I'm also betting they won't count as "human" so no romance with them.

So maybe 8 human romances in total? Unless we get some other non human companions.

If companions are tied to settlements I do hope that if I choose not to pick up a companion that it also locks me out of building a particular settlement. If they are tied together I wonder how tightly.

That image he shows looks like someone wearing a revolutionary era, tri-corner hat, not a Red Sox baseball cap....maybe I'm looking at it wrong.

I wonder if Piper is massive baseball geek.

Piper: So watcha think about sox?

Player: well i am confident that Knicks will dominate the stanley cup this year (insert fallout version of hockey trophy).

Piper: -_-

Player: It is the same sport right?

I think the reversal would be true.

Player: So, Piper, what's your favorite baseball team? I hear the Sox got their ass handed-

Piper: Uh...dude? Baseball team? Red Sox? You remember what year this is, right?

Player:

Piper: Sweetie, was life really that peaceful in your time?

In the Quakecon demo Todd said she's wearing a old fashioned paper boy hat.

Heh, I keep forgetting that our character won't be a man of the time he's living in. In the first three games your character was an outsider but they had at least grown up with the apocalypse being a historical event.

And yet the past your F4 character lived in is still nothing to do with our present.

I don't think the picture is a glimpse of her. Googling for a little more information on her (and perhaps a better pic) I ran across a Reddit thread where a poster identified as a Quakecon attendee (StealthSuitMkII) described her like this:

Shes a reporter for the Diamond City.

She wears a trench coat that looks a little big on her, and a different color from the mysterious stranger.

She wears a cap, like that of a British Golfer or newspaper boy.

She is distinctively female, but isnt amazingly attractive.

She also has quite the personality.

As the girl in the picture is wearing what looks like a summer dress and not a trench coat, it's probably not Piper if this description is accurate.

You are correct about it being a car manufacturing line. There was a Corvega plant in fallout 3 as well. Corvega being a brand owned by Chryslus.
