No, I don't think its worth it at all...and then I said "other" because I had to choose something...

hell to the yes!

other - both, you should be able to buy a dog companion, or find more exotic pets via quests.

This. Best companion I have ever had in a game.

A companion would only be a distraction and burden. And to Animate and design pets would take lots and lots of time and spoil precious money and GBs. So I say "No".

I beg to differ. A dog would be no problem at all, given that it would probably just be a reskinned wolf. That's the attack and movement animations sorted out straight away. As for being a distraction and wasting your personal money, well... You wouldn't have to have them tag along would you? It's better to have something you don't use than want something you can't. I'm sure there's a lot of others who'd appreciate pets, right? :)

The reason I'd want a pet is to protect my property, store, home, mine, farm, or other property I might like to own. It'd be a very nice thing to give the game even more flavor. I'd love to train an ogre, minotaur, or giant rats to protect my home or farm.

I kind of like being alone scouting the landscape. A companion would only be a distraction and burden. And to Animate and design pets would take lots and lots of time and spoil precious money and GBs. So I say "No".

fable did it, and that game is terrible

Say if you kill a bunch of weird beasts then one of the young hatches/ crawls out of a hole to you and imprints itself. I would have a hard time not raising it.

We already have conjuration if we feel like we need a "pet" or companion to fight with us. I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet. I really feel like conjuration makes any pets superfluous, especially the summonable/dismissable ones.

You want a pet?

I like the idea, but I think it should work more like charm creature, so your ranger can domesticate wild animals for a short period of time (or keep using the ability on them)

That works to an extent. Well, for the following and fighting aspect anyway. But I think when most people say they want pets, they mean a pseudo-companion. Something that can be interacted with, probably in the same vein as the dog in Dragon Age: Origins, or Dogmeat from the Fallout games. An interactive pet that you could influence (somehow).

Yes, I get that, but I still think that it would be superfluous to have pets since we do have conjuration. I don't know a lot about Dragon Age, but in FO3 having a pet or companion made more sense and filled much more of a function since there was no other way to acquire those things.

If there are already flying creatures such as birds in the game I would enjoy having a bird as a pet. Wouldn't be much good in a fight besides a temporary distraction of one opponent but I would like to have a raven on my shoulder as I adventure who would fly around at his own discretion. He shouldn't come with me into caves though. Bad bird!

I wouldn't be so sure about that. A couple of Cliff Racers could easily annoy any enemy to death.

No. Other.
Didn't like the dog in DA:O, didn't like the dog in Fable 2, didn't like the dogs in either FO3 or NV. Although if I could get one of those saber-toothed tigers...yeah that'd be pretty awesome.
