In or out?

I've not been on this board for a few weeks and was wondering if there has been any announcement in regards to a survival/hardcoe mode. This is, without question, the number one thing that I hope is included in Skyrim.

To my knowledge there is no official word. I'd like to see it as well, but its not a dealbreaker either. Just another thing that can add to the experience.

Difficulty slider up does not fix insta-heal potions and spells, bro.

Its not about the difficulty. I want to be required to eat, drink and sleep. That's all. And I am buying it on the 360 so mods will not be an option for me. I know people don't like to compare Fallout to The Elder Scrolls. And especially Fallout: New Vegas, but the hardcoe mode in that game made it worth the purchase. I'm hoping its in Skyrim.

hardcoe mode worked in Fallout because it was just stimpaks. You can't really say with a straight face say that magic should only heal in a certain way.

Yea I'm not sure how magic would work in hardcoe mode.

I think if there is one, magic should work as usual but potions should administer results over time like stimpacks in New Vegas. And ofcourse there should be a need to stay hydrated, eat periodically, and have a regular sleep cycle. It seems like a relatively easy thing to implement and if they haven't already, it's not too late to work on this aspect. I'd assume most fans would enjoy a hardcoe mode in Skyrim.

But if the magic parameters are exactly the same as "normal" mode then it just doesn't make sense.

From a gameplay standpoint, yes I can. Especially if it's only doing this in a some type of mode that is dedicated to the purpose of altering the gameplay to be more "hardcoe". Alternatively, cooldown or massive magicka cost (assuming potions don't insta-heal magicka) work too. It doesn't have to be the exact same as NV, it just has to do the trick.

Right, but while you're at it you might as well gimp other classes as well. Like if someone in heavy armor gets knocked down then then they are unable to get back up and are screwed.

While hardcoe mode was fun for a while in FNV, It just became to much work later on. I did go through with it and got the trophie, but i would not do it again.

In Skyrim with potions/magic/scrolls/enchantments it will be hard to do. Even in real life food can feel like work (and is if you make it yourself.)

Optional challanges in different forms would be great, i think. In more trivial ways, like;
Go through the game without using potions
- || - getting killed
- || - buying anything etc.

One way you could get spells to be more "hardcoe" Is to make them have effects over time.
As for whether they put it in or not I hope they do. I personally won't play it but it is nice to have options.
