Is it or is not "linear"

AIX and PR maps are twice as large as vanilla BF maps (especially the shoe box BC maps) it takes oyu 30 minutes to walk from one side to the other non stop (turning takes through building takes an hour)

If i had jet in Cyrodill i could show easily thats close to the size of that map

Trust me, they are not comparable

I just realized that Skyrim's graphics according to the screenshots aren't too far ahead of Oblivion's.

Sweet [censored] - the game hasn't even been released yet! Unless you have your own personal copy to examine, you can't make that judgement yet.

I'm still not sure OP is serious.

Also not sure if the person comparing Battlefield to TES is serious

I think they are, unfortunately. I think the art direction oozes with personality. The forests also look really nice.

They're good enough. Morrowinds graphics have become unplayable without improvements, and Oblivions graphics (while styled poorly IMO) are fine.

I mean, Skyrim is CLEARLY a graphical upgrade to Oblivion. More so than the majority of other sequels during this gaming gen. Has CoD had a graphical upgrade once since CoD4?

Lets just be happy we're getting Skyrim. I don't wanna wait for the next gen consoles and I'm sure most of you don't either.

Anyone's got any screenshots of Oblivion development mid-2005? That would hardly be a precise equivalent to Skyrim's current graphical polish, but could give us a good notion.

Besides, as long as the PC version's graphical evolution is representative of the hardware development that did not existe on consoles, I'm happy.

Before Skyrim was announced I thought for sure the next TES installment would be a next gen title, so I couldn't be happier we are getting Skyrim this year.

COD is a bad example because Activsion and what ever dev they choose knows they can make a carbon copy of the game slap their excellent sales campaign and make a profit.. If you want to compare graphics do it with Crysis, if you want to compare console graphics compare it to AC.

AC is not the best console graphics.

There are no games on the market that I can think of which are even anologous. If Dead Rising were open world instead of a bunch of closed cells that'd be one of the closest I guess.

Like I said before, you can't compare TES to a shooter

Surprise surprise, we've hit a ceiling on the graphical capabilities of the current generation of consoles.

I for one have noticed quite a bit of improvements over Oblivion, and even some over Fallout 3.

Yeah, the graphics do look better, but they have pretty much hit the ceiling for the current-gen consoles, so it isn't going to be a huge leap, nor was I expecting it to be. The animations, however, do look far better than Oblivion's.

True. I would say Uncharted is the best looking console game, but it's an exclusive. I do think RDR looks better than AC though.

I agree with OP, the graphics could be a lot better. Why are so many people so gullible? When they saw the quantum leap of Oblivion's graphics they jumped for joy, and now that Skyrim's graphics is receiving some criticism, "graphics don't matter as much", they proclaim. I agree that graphics are secondary, but when I see an ES game graphically limited from what it could easily be, it angers me. Just imagine how spectacular Skyrim could look, if the developers were allowed to use the latest technology! You can easily tone down the graphical fidelity, but it is difficult and inefficient to go up to higher fidelity than what the devs did.

Damn consoles. I hate what consoles have done to gaming. To all you who own consoles, I hope that that extra couple hundred dollars you saved was worth selling your soul and effectively neutering video games for.

Graphics seem more than up to the job if you ask me. Besides, the graphics of almost any game released in the last 5 to 6 years looks great to me.

I like to play games on the PC but one capable of just running modern games is far far far beyond my price range whereas any 360 game will play on my 360, and that's a console I bought about half a decade ago. People can go on and on about cutting edge PC graphics, but the fact is that not a lot of people can afford rigs capable of rendering those graphics.
