OutfitsTraining adding to SPECIAL?

Given how Fallout Shelter seemingly already has some very direct correlations to Fallout 4, for example Fallout Shelter has Food, Water, Electricity and People the same way the new communities that you can build in Fallout 4 shows. (Side note... wonder if babies will be made in the same way as well?) If there is also a correlation between Shelter and 4 when it comes to outfits/armor, then it may be possible that specific armor/outfits increase SPECIAL stats as well. I know in previous Fallout games depending on what you were wearing some SPECIAL stats were increased, now with the layered armor system instead of just 'all one outfit', that could lead to some pretty interesting possibilities. I guess it depends on how the layered armor system will work. Perhaps it is the base 'outfit' with additional 'armor' items above it. Still, looking forward to the possibilities.

Additionally, in previous Fallout games you could find books scattered throughout the wasteland and when you read them it would increase one of your SPECIAL stats by 1 point. Now, in Fallout Shelter there are training rooms designed to increase a 'players' stats. Now, I don't think you will be sitting in a room for 'x' number of hours to increase a specific stat... but perhaps there will be a time related training system that allows you to slowly increase a specific stat. Because, lets be honest, reading a book doesn't realistically give a good basis for immediately increasing a SPECIAL stat but a time related 'training' period would be more realistic.

Anyway, its just speculation. Curious what you think though.

One last thought. Preston Garvey. In Fallout Shelter Preston Garvey has 39 base SPECIAL points and 8 (well, actually only 7 because of the cap at 10) additional SPECIAL points added due his outfit.

Without outfit.... S:3 P:9 E:8 C:6 I:4 A:6 L:3 Preston Garvey Outfit: S:+2 P:+2 I:+2 A:+2

Wearing outfit... S:5 P:10 E:8 C:6 I:6 A:8 L:3

So, not only was that character not limited to the SPECIAL stats cap of 28 (the number of points we can allocate at the beginning of Fallout 4 as shown in the demo), but his stats are also increased further due to his clothing options. This is what got me thinking about this whole thing.

Most likely outfits will indeed add temporary bonuses to special and possible also temporary ranks to perks, similar to how clothes could give you temporary skill points.

As for special increase, common theory is that you will be able to use perk points to increase your attributes directly via the perk chart.

actually, reading books increased skills, not your special stat.

It was heavily implied by Pete Hines in an interview that we can increase SPECIAL stats at level-up instead of taking a normal perk, much like the old Intense Training perk (and hopefully with a similar limit). Given this revelation, I can't really see any other form of 'training' being available, although we do know bobbleheads are in so they could provide a boost.

As for outfits, my guess would be that yes, they (or a least some) will provide bonuses to SPECIAL and possibly even perks. I wouldn't expect armour pieces to do the same though, because the new system has us wearing both outfits and armour simultaneously.

There is also the possibility of implants which increase SPECIAL.

It's possible, but I can't see it. As I said, we know bobbleheads are back and I'm assuming the SPECIAL ones work like in Fallout 3 (Perception bobblehead giving +1 PER etc.)

It seems from the article I linked that we have a system for raising SPECIAL in a similar way to the Intense Training perk. I just can't see there being three ways of increasing our stats. Implants could however provide other benefits like the health regeneration one in New Vegas.

I kind of doubt it, I suspect you have to add modules for most of the bonuses this time(some of the armor bits looked more like poutches than actual armor on some of the screen caps
