Overhaul Poll

Post » Mon Jan 24, 2011 11:27 pm

I've seem a couple of posts recently stating that most people on this forum use FCOM . I'm sure that lots of people do, but I thought it would be interesting, and perhaps helpful if we could gather some hard facts by running on overhaul poll. I've included in the poll all the combinations that I'm aware of, it's possible that I've missed some.

Now this seems like an obvious poll to run, but I can't remember seeing one, and a search didn't reveal anything, so I thought it would be an worthwhile exercise.

So roll up and vote. Is Fcom really dominant? How pervasive is MMM? Let's find out.

Personally I use OOO alone.

All are different in their own way catered to different styles of gameplay.

Sometimes I think I'm the only one left who doesn't use one, and now so far this poll confirms it :( Although granted it is quite early :P

The only overhaul in my load order is Jog's Stealth Overhaul. :D Although, does UV count? I use that as well. :D

I use OOO and MMM

But i really think the most important thing is, is your pc a deficient pc with great cooling. Then sticking to some golden rules to see what works for you, as there are so many users that expect crashes at a hourly interval as norm.

My mods setup, all DLC installed, then all unoffical patches to v328, and no lod mods at all. Now once up to level 20 i got no crashes at all, after that it might be occasionally once a day, till the end of game where it might crash at every 6 hours sometimes. I did have so many mods was too many to count(hundreds), but have weed them out to 30 mods with a old game save maxed out, and only adding one mod at a time.

Using TIE as the overhaul right now. Had Frans in the mix with it until the caliper scripts went bonkers on me again and wouldn't correct. So I've mixed in Armamentarium for loot variety which is working pretty well so far.

I use OOO + MMM, when I was last playing and the excellent armamentarium for my enjoyable loot variety. :)

I suspect that this poll might be skewed... You're posting this in the mods forum - you'd probably see different results just by posting in general. And of course you have all the people who don't frequent the forums at all, but that's always a factor, isn't it?

Right now I'm trying out TIE and Armamentarium Complete (for added items of course). I figure if I dont like it I can easily get rid of TIE and go back to OOO. But right now I'm enjoying it. We'll see what happens once UV2 comes out :D

Voted OOO since that's what's installed right now, but I'm not married to it... for most of my Oblivion history it was Fran's, and I just wanted to try something different. Both have their upsides, and I wouldn't call either perfect or even optimal... IMO there's still room for improvement in this category. It's just a really tough category to work in, and there are solutions significantly better than vanilla already, so it's not common to see a (good) new entry because there are domains which need more attention and take (much) less effort.

Currently using OOO, since I'm in the mood for it, but will likely return to "just" Fran's , or Fran's + WAC when the mood for OOO passes, since Fran's is my favorite.

I have used TIE, OOO, Fran's and OOO+MMM so far. As well as FCOM, which I am still currently using. So I voted for that one.

My favourite of them would be Fran's, but curiosity - along with a desire for more, well, stuff :P - got the better of me in the end. Can't say I'm entirely unhappy with the results, either. Its team is doing a great job. :)

Have yet to try WAC... Hm.

^ Because MMM is creature addition mod rather then a full overhaul?

Using TIE + MMM (yea, there are some conflict, but I can live with it *gives a huge wink to CorePC to finish TIE reborn faster*) + Arma Complete.. Being a level 1 mage (with nGCD) has never been satisfyingly hard experience :D

If you have CUO in the list, you should also consider adding RIBO (both are from the engineering guild) ..

I use Fran's. To anyone suffering from the caliper bug I can only recommend http://www.mediafire.com/?y2ozkmyxmzl mod I made. Been playing with it for ~20 hours now with no caliper problems. Only small problem is that you need to use the default loot settings and can't use the in game customization menu. The esp I uploaded is on hardcoe, currently I use extra hardcoe so if anyone wants that I can upload it as well.

I'm a bit surprised that so many people don't use any overhauls. Do they really play the 'everything levels with you' vanilla style? Hard to imagine that someone may actually like this as it is probably the worst gameplay mechanic I have ever seen in a CRPG. But tastes are (very) different I guess.
