[Relz] Overlooked Meshes Galore - OMG

Post » Tue Mar 08, 2011 8:15 am

OMG!
!Surprise!

Hello everyone,

This is my surprise release of the month! I have compiled a bunch of the useful unused meshes done by Bethesda. Most of these have great possible applications! I expect to be seeing these in some mods soon :grad: . No, just do whatever you like with these. We all have easy access to these. But I find it useful to have them all in one spot. No need to credit me for these, I didn't make them. If you want to credit me, just say I compiled them or something...

Want a sneak peek of some of the things you'll be getting if you download? Of course you do!

Alright, here we go.... OMG!!!

These are just a few of the meshes you will find in this resource! So get it today to be amazed at what you never knew was there!!!

The pictures shown here are just a few of 127 total meshes in this mod!

Nothing is added in game, the .esp simply references the Morrowind Data Files to add the meshes into the CS. Note that I have not included any items which also appear in the CS, these models are straight, and only from the disc itself. Without this mod you will not see these meshes in the Construction Set. This is a Modder's Resource of sorts (as really, all of you already had all of these at your disposal as soon as you installed the game...). All of these meshes use vanilla textures, but they are ripe for the retexturing! So have at'em!

The meshes I have included are retextured vanilla meshes. I retextured them because they referenced textures which no longer exist (they were test textures).

All of the new meshes start with md_ they are found in the Lights, Static, Weapons, Miscellaneous, Activators, and Door tab of the CS. But mostly in the Statics section.

Enjoy! Feel free to post shots of how you plan to, or have, incorporated these into your game.

Dude, sweet! Where did you find these?

All of these came straight from the Morrowind data files :)

Hard to believe, I know.

So like, you dissected them out of the .bsa, or what?

No, I opened the data files on the CD, copy and pasted the ones I wanted (took a lot of digging, going through all of Morrowind's meshes). And packed them up for release :D

I didn't have to touch the bsa.

I was just informed over at TESNexus that this is illegal. Because these are still stock Bethesda meshes, with no modifications and Bethesda only wants them associated with Morrowind directly or some-such. Therefore I am removing this mod and closing this thread. Sorry, perhaps this will incite an interest in people to look in their data files CD at least :(

If someone else knows otherwise, I still have these files for personal use... so they aren't gone. But everyone else has them anyways if you have Morrowind installed, I was just trying to make it simple and easy to access them :)

p.s. Anyone is welcome to PM me if they want more information on these special meshes. They should be used more often!

Are you allowed to post a text listing of them? That'd be useful.

There's nothing illegal about listing the unused meshes here - you just can't redistribute them. -_-

Please do list them. Hate to see your efforts go to waste.

You could make an esp assigning them to the construction set , assuming they are not there already.

Yes, that would be nice. It would spare us the work of finding them out by ourselves and adding them manually.

As copyright holders it is up to Bethesda as to what form redistribution of their copyrighted materials is acceptable either in full or in part.
They will likely allow redistribution of their materials if it benefits them in some way, eg if you include retextured models in your mod they will probably allow or even encourage it as additional content increases the shelf life of their games. If redistribution of their copyrighted materials contstitutes piracy and/or likely to harm their business then they will likely intervene and put a stop to it. Your mod sounds like the former case of being likely to increase the shelf life of MW which is not the same as unlicensed selling of their stuff nor harm their business and therefore likely that Bethesda would not object. IMHO

That is a great idea! I will do that this afternoon. I feel silly that I didn't think of that before :)

Right now, I gotta shower and go to class, I have a Calc 2 test today :P

Also a FULL list of of items would be apriciated instead of just a few listed ;)

i presume that you have included the unused crossbow? The unused Azura Star thrwoing weapon? The unused Riekling shield? I already knew about the shackels but the others i didnt.

I've seen a few of these, but I have a question, are these in the BSAs? Because my CS CD doesn't work anymore, Vista doesn't let me access it's files :( , but I do have my BSA's extracted, soo...

I didn't add the Azura's star weapon because it had the same mesh/texture as Azura's Soulgem. But I will add it in for completeness. And yes I have the crossbow/bolts and a couple other weapons as well. I have not added any unused meshes from Tribunal or Bloodmoon though. I knew about a bunch of these, but I was VERY surprised by some of them! (The cot for example! There are also rugs to go on beds/cots as well as a new pillow)

They may be in the bsa I don't know. I got them straight off the CD, that's how I usually like to mod is looking at meshes on the CD.

That's strange, I run Vista and I don't have any problem with the CD, but Vista is very finicky.

*frowns* Why does my CS disc not have TB and BM files on it? Is it supposed only have the stuff used in Morrowind, and not the expansions?

The Construction Set CD was distributed together with vanilla Morowind since its original release; I'd be surprised if assets from Tribunal and Bloodmoon were actually available at that stage.

I don't know about the GotY package though.

I have the GotY PC-CDrom edition. Didn't even come with a map. :meh:

EDIT: http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Random/My%20Games/My_GamesPCGames_2_s.jpg. I got it new from the Target website, but no map. I am sooooo angry. I'm gonna send in the dinky little product feedback card to Bethesda, asking for the map. Someday.

CS and non-BSA resources comes with the Morrowind Disk. Then with Tribunal and Bloodmoon the resources are on the relevant CDs.

I've made it easier for myself and copied the folders from all 3 disks into one resource folder on my computer - no more CD swapping :D

i know the UMP tried assigning some of these meshes, like the shackles, which caused some issues. but a seperate ESP would be grand!

Oh, also worth noting that not all of these unused models are actually usable. Some have no real UV mapping with just 1 texture stretched over the whole thing, or the collision isn't suitable.
I found this lovely curved staircase which I carefully retextured, then found it was impossible to climb.

Ouch.

Well, use it for the realm of Sheogorath ... make a room with lovely curved retextured staircases in every corner, all unclimbable, and the only working staircase is invisible in the middle of the room. Or something like that. ;)

:ahhh: It's madness, I tell you! Madness!

I wonder why Bethesda included unused meshes and textures in the final release of the finished product...?
