Overpowered - bored out of my mind?

This is amusing, in a sad sort of way.

OP, there is no problem except what you make it. In other words, your argument is that you want to use the best gear and complain that you are OP. Well, that's like mages in Oblivion saying they want to use 100% Chameleon because it is the max Illusion spell (or one of them, anyway) but then they are OP. See the problem? It isn't the game that has a problem; it is the player and the choices made that lead to being OP. This is true because Beth allows the player to make choices in this regard rather than forcing choices onto players.

Too bad Beth didn't do the same with character creation... :(

You're not forced to do anything. Make a choice. Either walk around in OP gear and one-shot everything, or walk around in crappier gear on higher difficulty and get your challenge back.

Repeat: Nobody's forcing you to do anything.

Such a terrible answer, getting kind of sick of hearing it too. You should NOT have to wear crap armor to avoid trivializing 90% of the game. That's just bad design.

It would also be bad design to scale enemies so that those who utilise the crafting synergies get a challenge. As that would leave everyone else in an unplayable game, or force them to do the same and thus remove choice.
The arguement isn't about wearing crap armour, it's about using armour that you wouldn't find anything even remotely close using other methods in the game (not even the stuff aparantly made by divine beings - maybe they should have been making iron daggers too).

Okay one-hitting was exaggerated -exaggeration promotes understanding. But its very easy to kill most monsters.

*sigh* Not this again. Being overpowered to the point of breaking the game should NEVER be a choice, because if someone for some reason (roleplaying reasons maybe) wants to take blacksmithing and enchanting, they are screwed (they lose the choice to play as they like). If someone wants to 1 shot monsters all day, they can switch to novice difficulty or use mods.

The problem may be your thought , not the game.

For me, it's a game of advanture , for knowing the skyrim by reading documents , talking with NPCs , choose the different forces , and of course fighting a part of the game but it's certainly not all of the game.

Before you fight you should think about that. Wish it could help , and enjoy the game.

Didn't know you could forge and add anything in alchemy haha  . And the argument about removing your overpowered gear isn't valid. Why are you forced to NOT play with the gear you like the most, and obviously also what looks the coolest. No one in lvl 40 would run around with an iron sword when other other swords are available. What I'm saying is that I PERSONALLY think there's not enough challenging moments in late game, and especially not if you have to PURPOSELY use crappy gear to still be able to have fun in late game. You see that we have a problem here ?

I smell something fishy here then, friend. I am lvl 25 with a Redguard who is specializing in 2H/Heavy Armour/Restoration/Conjuration on Expert and I really cannot ONE-SHOT anything, let alone Master. It's why I am forced to ask for a full view of your perk tree/list, preferable a screenshot with everything in view. It's impossible you can do this without using the overpowering synergy of Alchemy/Enchanting/Smithing.

If you did manage to do that on Master, without abusing those power levelling skills, I want to see this on your perk tree and maybe a video even?

I agree that one on one most monsters are relatively easy (since, as with all games, patterns can be noticed then taken advantage of - this is not a TES issue but a gaming in general one).
However when you find multiple (moreso with enemy casters - hehe if players had half their power you'd never see a complaint about mage power :)) thats when the fun starts. Fighting 3-4+ can be really fun.

If you really find no challenge in master without the abuse of the crafting synergy or one of the many, many abusive mechanics then sadly it's time to reroll and try roleplaying. Though without 'self gimping' (love that term, especially in a role play game) it stands to reason you will not find challenge in this game.

*sigh* Not this again. Being overpowered to the point of breaking the game should NEVER be a choice, because if someone for some reason (roleplaying reasons maybe) wants to take blacksmithing and enchanting, they are screwed (they lose the choice to play as they like).
I'd love to see how they could roleplay the crafting abuse. Smithing and Enchanting alone are not broken, hell even together they are't that bad, it's the multiple stages.
People create something, that they then use to create something, to cre...... to create some armour. Roleplaying? An OCD Blacksmith who specialises in enchanting and loves making potions as a side hobby?

My rogue didn't invest a single perk into enchanting/smith/alchemy yet I feel the the game is too easy even on master, which I think is the point the OP is trying to make.

Play in a different way, then. Would someone that is as powerful as you are REALLY bother to take out a bunch of puny mages or bandits? Of course not! You're the Master, you order your minions to do things and they do them.

In other words, get a follower, a summon and maybe a zombie, walk into the area you want to kill and support them while they do their stuff! My Dual Wielding axe Necromancer can use elemental fury level 1 to almost oneshot any enemy in the game, so i rely on my Draugr Scourge zombies, because it's hilarious to me watching them duke it out while I toodle around the rest of the room grabbing minor health potions.

Just come up with an alternative way of playing. If a game is boring, you don't play it that way any more, you just find a different way to look at things. That's where videos like this came from: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVKfKU8D8cY

Just have fun!

Sneak is overpowered. Everyone knows it. Not only does it output insane damage, it also keeps you perfectly safe. I hope Beth does something about it.

Roleplay your armor. Like I wear robes when I'm sneaking/stealthing, or my Stormcloak armor when I'm on their missions. Works well for me.

You are telling me that you play on master and one shoot everything at lvl 40 YET have no clue how smithing can improve your combat in game. Sorry but that, for me, disqualifies about the whole topic you try to make. Either that or you are really a true master in this game, please do enlighten me

Well he might just abuse sneaking + invisibility and double power attack ppl using the x30 backstab combo.

Getting sick of hearing that this game is too easy by people who deliberately make it so for themselves. That answer you don't like is none the less the right one and the truth. And actually no, it's very good design for an ES game, those that want "a challange" can have it, and those that want to have godlike characters too if you make the effort to have it, it caters to both and is left up to the player to decide how is character and game will be, that's how an ES game should be.

*sigh* Not this again. Being overpowered to the point of breaking the game should NEVER be a choice, because if someone for some reason (roleplaying reasons maybe) wants to take blacksmithing and enchanting, they are screwed (they lose the choice to play as they like). That's bull, if you deliberately went for the "Smith/Enchant/Alchemy" exploit than you knew exactly what you were doing, and even if you didn't, you're none the less responsible if you kept exploiting it, no one else. Again, it's left up to you. Beth should never limit players options just so as to help out a handful with no self control.

Actually you don't need to abuse anything. Just lvling smithing to 100 (roleplaying a warrior who smiths all his own gear), you can hit defense cap, then with some magic resist gear and Atronach stone you become unkillable.

Smithing in general is just incredibly powerful.

And I don't think it's unreasonable for someone to level up smithing and enchanting (who cares about alchemy lvling that is hard). Just in the course of normal gameplay and thinking "man it looks cool to craft gear for myself let's try that". I did that. And it was godmode by lvl 35. Just crafting in my spare moments when I came back to town to sell stuff. No 'abuse', no powerleveling. Just thinking that a game feature might be cool. And then finding out that it wasn't.

Problem is Bethesda made it WAY WAY too easy for your character to become godlike. Master should be much harder than it currently is and the crafting synergies should not even exist at all. I should not have to avoid certain skills or armor because it makes the game too easy. That's not choice, that's a lack of choice. Terrible design.

Why are these exploits even in the game? Did Bethesda not test anything? If I want to roleplay a crafting type character that makes and enchants his own weapons/armor I should be able to do so WITHOUT TRIVIALIZING THE ENTIRE GAME. Again, terrible design choice by Bethesda.

How is that a lack of choice? You chose to level three skills that had absolutely nothing to do with what your character normally does, how does that make any sense at all?

Unless you're trying to tell me that somehow your character is both a master smith, a master alchemist, a master enchanter, a master assassin, and a master dungeon explorer?

On the other hand, by the time you reach level 40 you SHOULD be getting overpowered compared to your enemies, if you're playing the game properly...although the extent of minmaxing you must be doing to feel overpowered on a master difficulty character astounds me. My character plays on Adept difficulty, uses 2 of the 3 support skills, and feels perfectly balanced. How on earth do you play on master and have no trouble at all? You must not have any restraint at all, i just can't see another option....

It is indeed the game that has a problem. If the game does not create a balanced gameplay experience out of the things it offers, it is just bad game design. What you are suggesting is that players should purposely stop improving themselves, in order to match the games difficulty, when in fact it is the game that has to improve itself to match the players' capabillities.

I mean I literally walk around one-hitting everyone on master and it makes the game seem so boring.
I'm level 40 and I would really like to have some more challenges in the higher levels. Some tougher, meaner monsters.
I guess the only way to get a challenge is to play a pure mage or something like that...
What do you guys do to keep the game fun and to get some challenge?

Hmmm .. sounds like another person who 'power leveled' a couple skills and now wants to brag .. Why don't you post all your skills so we can be awed by/make fun of your character?

My guess -

100 smithing - all gear legendary+ with a bunch of items that increase smithing, that are only used when smithing
100 echanting - all gear has two enchantments and another set of gear that is only worn when enchanting
high potion skill - to create a bunch of paralysis / health damage potions
100 weapon skill - that was probably bought through training while power leveling the first two
Possibly a really high sneak with the assassin perks for increased sneak damage

Now none of these are cheating, build your character as you want, but don't complain if you exploited the game and now its boring.

Actually smithing alone trivializes the game on master.

This assumption that people are exploiting crafting synergies is facepalm inducing.

My guess -

100 smithing -

This is the only crafting skill you need to become an unkillable god.
