Overpowered Dual-Wield

Post » Fri Nov 18, 2011 6:22 pm

Hello people, I'll tell you big unfair advantace of one handed dual wield over two handed.

Before adding any Perk or Damage Bonus a DW is capable of doing %14 more damage, per strike(1 strike from each weapon) because 2H weapons can only do %86 more damage than 1H weapon of same class.

I did not count as DPS, it is just per strike, I believe 2H has much lower value in terms of DPS.

Looking at Perks, there are only two difference:

1-) 2H has 9 items, 1H has 10 items, that 1 extra item is Dual Flurry which gives %35 more speed.

2-) 70 kill perk of 1H gives %50 more damage with Power Attacks, 70 kill perk of 2H only gives directional swing.

Looking at Enchantments:

Enchantments in game are powerful, and 1H & 2H enchantments are not different, so DW has 2x as much enchantment power as 2H.

Plus thanks to their faster speed, they can apply enchantment effects much, much faster.

Looking at Shouts:

Elemental Fury which increases speed, at first glance it should help 2H more since it is % based, but if we add the fact DW getting 2x enchantment, their apply rates getting boost from that too, which makes DW literally invincible.

Looking at other abilities:

Yes, 1 Handed cannot use Block/Bash, but have you ever thought, you're capable of getting bonus from Stealth while 2 Handed cannot that's why I believe Dual Wield is overpowered.

2H has Block/Bash, Dual Wield has Sneaking Bonus.

2H has longer reach, Dual Wield has quicker animations so they can evade enemy attacks more easily.

EDIT: Changed whole article to further support my argument logically.

Except as far as I'm aware power attacks are broken and do no extra damage, and the power attacks are slower than normal attacks... Maybe if they fix power attacksany time soon...

You have literally no defense when using two, I think its balanced fine. Also, you attack three times in the flurry, I should know I've been using dual weapons from the start. The standing Power Attack does do massive damage though and is insanely powerful, but it leaves you open to attacks and immobile for mages and rangers.

You claim 2 Handed power attack does regular damage? Gosh. Situation just got worse then :(

2 Handed power attack is slower and leaves you more vulnurable. Also blocking is lame in 2 handed anyway, I got significant damage even though I was blocking. It was as if I didn't block.

Plus, you say literally no defense? You just can't block, you still can wear heavy armor buddy.

Animation /= strikes. The dual wielding power attack doesn't actually do 4 full strikes worth of damage

2 Handed does single strike in terms of animation.

Wow. Before launch people were complaining it wouldn't be useful and not being able to block would make it under powered compared to shield or two-hander. Now people complain it's over powered! >_<

My point is you can wear heavy armor with a 2H as well. You're taking alot of damage because your block skill is low, by the way. If I'm not careful and accidentally walk into a strong power attack from a boss, it can seriously hurt me, and has killed me numerous times. Just gotta play Dodge'em for alot of boss fights.

It still does vastly more than 2 handed power attack, and 2 Handed power attack is really slow, heavy, leaves you open for alot of time, and conserves most of your stamina!

In my opinion, blocking with one handed weapon makes sense. And they should be able to do swing multiple enemies, with only difference being shorter reach than 2 handed. Give them block, give them 1H weaker enchanments(really unfair.), and give them offhand penalty(and fix main hand for lefties).

It does not, I literally used it a few minutes ago and it does three attacks in a row with the last being the most damage. Although I do agree that it can be OP in some areas, 2H's reach is a huge advantage when used correctly.

Blocking doesn't help you [censored] with 2 Handed. Every time I block I take very serious damage. I play like you, avoiding and stuff.

I'm roleplaying a character similar to an Artemis Entreri character but with more of a bow focus. I use archery first then fall back on Sword and Dagger when I'm pressed. It's a really fun way to play but dual wielding does remove some tactics from the combat

There is no data about that on wiki, but I can see dual wield power attack does more damage, faster and takes less stamina, and they are being able to use 2x enchanments. It is ridiculous.

Just because they can't use ridiculous block, look at the damage they get.

Well, you can bash and have longer reach which makes 2h weaps a much more defensive choice.

I haven't tried dual wield but 2h works great on master difficulty so far, I would even put it above my 1h+shield toon as far as balance goes.

Look at the facts/observations I listed up there, if you think it is not overpowered, then you are not being honest.

Blocking does not work properly in 2 handed, I do avoiding instead. Also you don't get %100 more damage, faster, less stamina consuming power attack with twice enchantments, just because of you can't block.

I'm used to seeing Overpowered in a multiplayer game...but i dont see how something can be overpowered in a single player game? I mean, it doesn't affect you directly does it? :S

Blocking in 2 handed is not even half in terms of blocking power compared to 1H shield, why give up so much damage for just being able to half arsed blocking?
