OWB added traits, how about adding challenge perks in LL?

Post » Fri Jul 22, 2011 11:31 am

the OWB dlc added new traits, LR could add new challenge perks.

Invent your own new challenge perks that you would like to have :)

I'd personally love to see

Angry nerd: Your rapidly advancing stages of nerdiness allows you to rage more often!Nerd Rage 25 times - nerd rage activates at 25% health and gives +1 additional DRNerd Rage 50 times - nerd rage activates at 30% health and gives +2 additional DRNerd Rage 75 times - nerd rage activates at 35% health and gives +3 additional DR

(numbers could of coarse be tweaked, was thinking +10% range could also work, DR bonus could also be tweaked)

6. As I expected the level cap one has a positive thing, with chems lasting twice as long and you never getting addicted. Really would have just preferred a menu option patched in without DLC.

When do we get to choose traits? I just woke up and have to download it over like an hour or two.

Spoiler
You get to choose traits after you recover the Autodoc personality data for the Sink. When you reactive the Autodoc at the Sink, one of the options is to undergo a psychology examination, which allows you to reselect your traits. You can only do this once, after which the option is removed.

Oh... Great... So I can't cap myself until I've found this auto-doc module... Which I have no idea where it is... "yaaay"....
And through the dialogue with the Think Tank I went from 40 to 41...
Even more "yaaay"...

I want to like OWB but it's making it really [censored] hard for me to do so.

Disliked this aswell as I thought we could re-trait from the start. Generally it looks like a ton of people level after talking to the Think Tank. Must be a leveling kinda mood.

Actually the menu being patched to allow anyone without OWB but with any other DLC to cap 3 30/Lvl their at or even being the only option instead of the perk would of been a great idea

Oh, by the way, I could not pick the trait at lvl 42 to cap myself there, so this trait only works at 30 or below, so if you're 31, you cannot pick it.

Whaaaaat. I'm glad I have a new character for this DLC. Wait, don't you have a PC now? Find a way to cap your level from a mod. Regardless of the badly implemented trait, the DLC itself is very very good IMO.

Well yeah I have a PC but I can't buy stuff off of Steam as I don't have a "real" credit card. (I got it when I was 16 so it can't order internationally or online)
So I had to buy it for the 360 which is where I'm playing it now.
Even if I do have PC now and I can in fact use mods I still don't like how the new trait works as if I had been on 360 still I would have been stuck with the bad design decision.

Yeah, I understand. They even advertised that they would cap it at whatever level you were after 30, so very lame. Personally, I think I'll slow the experience speed to incredibly slow speeds once I am at 30 so I might level up past 30 after doing tons and tons of quests.

Yeah Project Nevada allows me to set exp gain to 30% if I want to so I'll likely set it there when I get the DLC's for the PC version.

And man did they [censored] up the Skilled trait or what! :banghead:

It would be neat if LR added a perk that allowed you to take a third trait. Especially neat with all the new traits to choose from but still being limited by 2 max :(

This annoys me too, so I'm gonna look at the trait in the GECK and see if it can be altered. Sounds like they got it backwards, so if it is adjustable it should be a simple change.

EDIT: am looking at the trait in the GECK, and it has a GetLevel <= 30 condition. This is easy to remove, however getting the perk to recognize your current level as the limit will be a bit trickier to implement. Will examine allowable results to see if I can use a conditional for that as well.

Upon further inspection, the trait has a function that multiplies all XP gained after acquiring it to zero, so simply removing the condition should enable it to be taken at any level. Alternatively, one can reverse the condition and set 30 as the minimum level to be eligible to receive it; the catch here is that you wouldn't be able to take it at the start.

Alright, after poking around a bit it turns out that it would require implementing a script effect that checks the player's current level upon taking the trait, and sets the cap to that level, in order to cap at the level the trait was taken at. A simpler alternative is to edit
iMaxCharacterLevel
under Gameplay ---> Settings to the desired value; this does have the issue of being global to all one's characters rather than a variable cap, though.
