OWB is up on steam right now!

Jeez, touchy. My comment was hardly groundless - just look at the kerfuffle when HH wasn't released on time. Doesn't greatly bother me right now as I won't have the chance to play till likely tomorrow evening at the earliest, but it's fun to chat about it whilst we wait.

Or, if you're taking offence to me using the word "yank", I've never known any of my American friends to take offence to it. Being Australian (though currently living in the UK) it's not considered a derogatory demonym - perhaps its connotations are different coming from a Brit. In any case, no offence meant.

Not touchy, that's why I said all jokes aside. I commented on it. Allowing any side to remain commentless usually leads to a point where an idea is reinforced to the point it is taken another step, where it goes too far. As it if applied to the real world anyways. Fallout also reinforces these real world values, issues, etc. which is why it makes for an interesting series. Among a treasure trove of other things anyways.

As to Valve's Steam which I'm hardly a fan of seems so. That's why I attempted to get a timeframe but apparently no one knows when Steam regularly updates. Atleast no one yet on these forums. Perhaps someone can get a timeframe if they tweeted Valve's twitter or something.

Humanity will never learn because hype... Hype never changes.

Calm down lads, we'll have it soon enough.

I had no problems downloading from Steam this morning. Well, I got *one* error when I tried to complete the purchase, but I waited about ten minutes and tried again and it was successful.

I never said steam doesnt give me problems. I have problems and issues with steam but I wouldnt say steam svcks. Not saying steam is the best but I am also not saying it is the worse.

With regard to my "Steam svcks" statement I think this new "problem" just brought back the anger from my previous Steam experience. ;)

The question is, why do we have to put up with an online service that requires it's client to run all the time just to play a single player OFFLINE game in the first place?
I bought Fallout 3 and the DLCs (as cheap 2-packs) on disc and never had ANY problem with them.

Don't get me wrong here:
If people like Steam, like to use it's online features, that's just fine. But why is everybody else forced to use it too, even for a game that has no online features at all?

As far as "DRM" or copy protection through Steam goes: That's a total failure. And people using illegal copies don't even have to put up with that annoying Steam client...
And the DLCs have no protection or DRM at all. Bethesda could simply sell a downloadable Setup program through their own or some other online software store like they did for Oblivion, without the need of that annoying client software.

In case you didn't notice, I'm old school. I prefer manual downloads and manual installation of updates or add-ons. I like to have control over what I install, when I install it and where I install it to.

As far as the cost being cheaper else where, I doubt you can get things as cheap on steam.

Might be true for small add-ons like the Fallout 3/New Vegas add-ons. I'd still prefer a manual download outside that annoying client software.
And for full, new games Steam is not cheap. I never buy games on Steam but I check prices occasionally and, at least in Europe, you can almost always buy a new game cheaper somewhere else. If you wait for a game to become a budget title you can still often get it as cheap as on Steam somewhere else.

Again, if you like to use Steam, like to buy your games through Steam, that's fine. But I don't and I just don't like it being the only option...

Now about Old World Blues not being available on Steam still in Europe, give it time after all this is just a game and your gaming experience wont change if you get it a few hours later than you were supposed to.

You're right, and usually I don't really care if I get a game a few days later. I even bought FoNV last year and didn't have enough time to play a huge game like this till last month. But now I just stopped playing a few days ago to wait for OWB before I finish the main quest. I want to continue the game. :)

I do, but I left it at a friends house, and my sneak skill isn't high enough to break into his house to get it.

Can't you just phone him and use your Charisma ?
