My own BRINK multiplayer review

Post » Wed Feb 16, 2011 2:36 pm

We have 4 servers up, all are 8vs8. Took me a while to figure out how to set them up properly and how the in game rcon works. Got the reserved slots also working. It's a breath of fresh air to have the public dedicated server files.

There's a learning curve to this multiplayer game, it grows on me the more that I play it.

I find the graphics are nice, no lagging on our servers and the no k/d stats really helps in forcing everyone to play as a team.

That new SMART moving system is wonderful to have, it plays like a charm. No proning but there is leaning. With the smart system you are able to slide on the ground and climb high objects with ease (except if you have the heavy body).

The gun selection, attachment and perks will keep you busy, not one character will be the same in game. You are allowed 10 characters of your own (you can edit/delete them any time you want), each much progress in game with the xp point system. This game is about non-stop in your face action, you are always busy doing something with the optional main/secondary objective wheel.

And no worries about snipers in this game, it's all objective based and snipers have a rare role on most maps.

This isn't COD or RO. You must have the proper classes to achieve the objectives and classes that will support the ones doing the objectives.

This is more of an arcadish game, but I like it so far. It's fun in my opinion but it's definitely not everyone's style of play. If you are willing to learn how to play it properly, it can be a gem of a game.

Nice easy on the eyes - short but to the point review....lovely.

1 question - Your on steam? How did/was setting the server up? - I dont like the way all this co-op non lobby thing is working out, people seem to be having alot of problems getting "friend" games setup.

I set up our servers using the HLDSUpdateTool. Then I made some adjustments to the server.cfg file

Easier to use the HLDSUpdateTool since your server can be easily updated in the future by just clicking a button.
