My Own Skyrim-Themed Musical Score

Post » Thu Jan 30, 2014 6:51 pm

Hello Everyone.

I do not play Skyrim and don't think I really ever will, but the one thing that intrigued me the most about the game when I was investigating was its Celtic-driven musical score. Being a long-term musician myself, I was absolutely floored by how majestic and gorgeous its soundtrack was, most specifically the tracks "A Winter's Tale" and "The Bannered Mare." With an incredible amount of newfound inspiration, I set out to create my own musical score that shared similar characteristics and a similar sound with Skyrim's soundtrack. I tried my best, and this is what came out. I figured the only real place where I could get feedback on this was the Skyrim community, so here ya go! I haven't really worked out a name as of yet, but your feedback is still appreciated. Thanks.

I cannot post links for some reason, so here's the YouTube watch link: /watch?v=_tpOtN7vEiM

Dude your score is pretty awesome, I wouldn't mind looking at a tab for it so I could learn it (I love playing this kind of music).

I've always loved Skyrim's music. My favorite song to play is Out of the Cold. It's not a hard tab at all and I learned it in only a few days. I can play the piano part of The Streets of Whiterun but it'd be nice if I knew how to play the violin with it.

Thank you very much! I never really use tabs, but if I find the time I could try and whip up one for it. I don't know what it is about film score music but it always brings out things that you would never get from today's music, and that's why I love it :D

I'm not sure what you want for feedback, or constructive feedback at least, because you are only going to hear praises from me! It's so soothing and beautiful throughout. You should make more if you can.

Actually I do have a suggestion, it's not regarding the music itself, but replace the picture with some bards playing lute along the fire (or something similar) would be much more fitting than the dragonborn pic.

Thank you, I'll definitely be making more in the future. I love the Celtic theme of Skyrim's soundtrack, it's nothing but pure inspiration. I would change the image, but that would mean I would have to take this down, reupload it, replace all the links etc., so for the time being just imagine it :D
