Own slaves in Fallout:NV

Post » Mon Sep 20, 2010 11:33 pm

In real life i frown apon slavery but in fallout theres a difference, who thinks if you should own more than one slave unlike in fallout 3 for example instead of haveing one slave like clover in fallout 3 you can get more (leave your comments)

I'm cool with the game having slaver options. But I think there need to be repercussions for the activity. Such as communities that are against it looking to free your slaves or not allowing you safely in their settlements or something along those lines.

I thought the Slavery aspect was not fully thought out in Fallout 3.

I think the game should allow you to make use of your slave, either as a house servant, pack mule or canon fodder for fights. Of course, there should be a karma hit and some people/towns will not like you if you present yourself as a slaver or have used slaves in the past. However the game should also allow you to free slaves too so there is balance or choice in the path you play.

Since Caesar's Legion is a major faction I really hope there's slaves.

I agree largely with the idea.

The buying, owning, and selling of slaves should be a major part of the business schemes of the post-apocalyptic wasteland. As it was in Fallout 1 and 2... slave labor should be almost critical. The NCR Rangers, of course, hunt and kill slavers without question... so one might have their hands full if they choose to support the industry.

I imagine a combat slave would and should bail on you if they were sufficiently wounded, if not just shoot you in the back of the head at the first opprotunity.
Press gangs have been in the previous fallouts, but they were really only there for flavor and didn't have any gameplay mechanics beyond your buttered toast typical hostile npc encounter.

To be honest, if you choose to ally with Caesar's Legion you should eventually be able to buy a house with a slave pen so that any captured wastelanders you come across should have the option of being given a slave collar and sent back to your slave pen. This way you should be able to trade slaves like a commodity.

For example, you wish to barter with someone over something valuable and don't quite have enough caps. Offer a slave as well.

Yeah, I definitely think there should be the option, but the only problem is how to implement it. Combat slaves wouldn't really work, because with rare exceptions like Clover and Charon, most of them do have... motivational deficit. Maybe a housekeeper slave would be nice, or perhaps slaves that you capture (properly, being able to go on raids with other slavers) and sell on for a profit.

I'd rather have a housekeeper that's less.... rebellious.

there's a mod for Fallout 3 that really helps Role-playing as a Slaver and makes being a slaver much better than mezzing a NPC then hoping they get safely to paradise falls. I think its called FNNCQ but my spelling be wrong :P

yea that would be really awesome! and you could be able to choose if you're going to be nice to the slave or treat her/him badly. And the slave could get to know you and start to like you, and actually want to be your companion and help you. For the evil part I also think it would be cool if you could trade slaves your self, and make money out of it.

It would be a cool reward for siding with Caesar's Legion.

I can't stress enough that the suicide system that applies to all non player critters/people must be changed before this could make sense. Great I dea. Cr@p system where by ANYthing that sets off a negative trigger. There aren't enough levels/degrees of how npc's/monsters get aggressive. 1-5 levels maybe. Not "I see you ! YER MY DINNER !!"

Would be fun though =)

There could be a questline with the Legion in which - if you help them out - you're rewarded with a slavefollower and are given options to sell him further (with consequences later on), let him go (with consequences later on, like recieving unexpected help at some point), keep him (with the possibility of him turning against you depending on how you treat him).

In a city full of vice a more developed slave system is necessary.

These sound really good. It would definitely fit with the "consequences of the PC's actions" idea too.

Well it is said that most slaves are exported to The Pitt in the DLC, but it's a bit of a lame excuse for the developers not adding slaves fully.

I support this idea, adds a lot of role playing value :)
