Owning property in Fallout 4?

Post » Thu Dec 03, 2015 1:58 am

I know that we can build our own settlements, and presumably our own houses.

What I would like to know, if anyone on these forums does know, is whether or not we are still able to purchase and own property (houses) in Fallout 4 IN ADDITION to the any settlements we build.

I'm not asking for anyone to post any leaked footage or pics or anything. In fact, I would not advise it. But I would appreciate confirmation of this.

I've read that you can build your own settlements from the ground up as well as gain the trust of and develop in established communities. So it's possible that you will be able to buy property within the existing communities.

I've heard nothing about being able to buy your own property, but its been in every other game. I sure hope you can, it would be nice to have a plethora of options you can spend your money on.

Agreed.

In Skyrim, we could build our own houses AND buy pre-built houses in nearly every town in the game world.

It wouldn't make any sense to do away with buying pre-built houses, IMO.

House Mods being as popular to make and well download as they are I have no doubt that these will be available right away in a number of locations that gamers will enjoy.

It is strange how in so many rpg's, there really isn't much to spend money on. In the beginning you might feel you need to spend.. However, if you are the explorer type, the only thing you really become concerned about is where to sell all your loot. "Damnit, nobody has any money!"

I have this issue also, too much money & not enough to spend it on. I thought at one point it might be interesting if you could only rent a property, that way your money has somewhere to go on a monthly basis, (in game time) if you can't pay the rent then you get locked out with your stuff still inside. You can only get it back when you start paying the rent lol I must confess though I think that might annoy a few players. Maybe on hardcoe mode have the renting system.

Todd Howard confirmed that there will be houses that you can own in the game if you decide not to build your own house. It was from an E3 interview which I'll go searching for if you'd like.

I'm not so sure this is confirmed so much as 'hopefully unlikely to of changed from previous game'. I've yet to see or hear anything about pre-made/in city houses.

it goes without saying, there's locations in all their games you can live, prob most every settlement will have some type of player housing

I think I will take a modern government approach: they either join or I destroy them and insert my own puppet leader :)
